  • Love the faces of the concert band behind him. "HOLY FUCK BALLS"

  • sick guitarist (:

  • fuck all of you who talked shit about the guitar. I played bari sax with this group. We all had our solos. This was HIS song. If you dont like it. Fuck off.

  • I played this with an honor band, cmpared to that it's not quite as good, but this is still a very good version of this song, well done

  • nice on guitar

    Cool

  • He is so much better now too, lol. Its ridiculous.

  • This is good. Not as good as my middle school jazz band when we play it...

  • never heard it like this our jazz band isn't as heavy on guitar but i do enjoy it very well done

  • loved the guitarist

i dident think anyone else knew the over and under technique

hey dude can you make him post a tuturial on that?

  • okay Van Halen we get it you can play, you wanna let the rest of the band play? Even when the band has the melody you are kinda loud? I have this song and i know the solo can be repeated, so try giving some of the lime light to another player, but that was pretty good and solid, you must know your stuff, i just play the suggested trumpet solo

  • were playing this song for jazz band not really jazz tho, and jeez that guitarist is kinda dushy..

  • jazz bands traditionally play this song, but that doesn't mean it has to be in a swing beat or anything like that. the rhythm of the song is literally labeled "driving rock".

  • ya'll are stupid, the AMHS solo sounds like pure shit, like the guitarist there was on acid, ya'll are just plain stupid

  • kool solo but it kinda didnt fit the song

cuz its like a rock song but fer jazz

cuz u cant make a trombone and a saxiphon have a rock sound to it

  • BADASS

  • Wow yeah the gutiar, no way. It ruined the song. I can't hear the ensemble because it's too loud and distracting. Small jazz bands, wow. Ours is huge! 40 people and we are high school. I play trombone.

  • Seriously? My band is playing this song and we have like only 16 people. And seriously the guitar is too loud. But either way, I love this song!

  • @kit1996returns Yes, lol

  • awesome.

  • thats a huge jazz band!!! we only got like 12 people lol

  • weve got around 17

  • I played in the RCHS jazz band this year, Donovan Scott is an amazing musician, the best guitarist I've ever seen, he has a great future ahead of him

  • To much guitar.

    ruined the song.

Normally I wouldn't be caught dead saying that but it totally ruined Area 51 and high/middle school jazz band in general

  • check me out amhs area 51 guitar solo im beast no?

  • brendan ur a jerk lol

    stop being conceited

-its ryan by the way hahah

  • that is good technique but basically bs tricks and flash crap...nothing to do with the song...AMHS gtr playa eats him for breakfast!!

  • AMHS guitar solo kicked this one's ass!

  • my school is playing this song. to much guitar maybe try and putting him next to the band and not in the front cause he is overpowering the band especially during his solo (hard to hear the backgrounds)

  • Alright... To all of you little homos posting that it was too much guitar maybe you should learn more about how our jazz band worked before you start judging and talking shit... Each of our songs had a feature of a different instrument... Donovan made up a completely different solo every time he played this... So what he decided to do some crazy metal shit... He is still an amazing player...

  • nobody said he was bad...

its just that it wouldve been better

if he chose to do a soft rock solo

  • That was an awesome solo, but really, TOO MUCH GUITAR. I agree with Detroid, Jazz bands are meant to feature the band, not the rhythm. But no offence to rhythm players as they are essential to the band's success.

  • Learn How to play that homo stick

  • im playing this song too haa if my class sees this comment all i gotta say is hi haha so yeah uhh i dunno the solo was good but its jazz not crazy guiar man band so yeah it sounded good but it needed not to have the guitar solo ary but that s how i role haha i play bass so yeah its fun on this song its kinda hard but i can do it haha so yeah....

(by the way i was the original poster of this but i dunno how it came up as the trubucco37824 guy haha weird)

  • i dont care if its rock band or not he is really good so stop judging all right i play guitar and im in jazz band and you can shut your mouth about how guitarists try to take over the band screw you why dont try to play OK ironman200X!!! FAG!!!

  • im playing this song in jazz band and i play the drums for it. were ahight.

  • my middle school jazz band played tjis, although it wasnt as good

  • ha...we played it with 7 trumpets in our concert and with the bass ripping ah man it sounded great....once i got the hang of the song the trumpet melody was nothing and i had the part memorized...which made it fun because we could do stuff while playing without looking at our music

  • Good guitarist, but his solo ruined the song. It's Jazz Band, not Rock Band. I don't like it when guitarists take it over because they think it's their gig. Don't get me wrong, he is a fantastic player, but guitars aren't the showcase instrument in a Jazz Band.

2:17 was ultimately the worst part of the song. That's the trumpet accappella section, and he ruined it with pinch harmonics...

  • personally I thought it was a nice touch.

this is a rock song, asshole. and anyways, jazz is known for being able to branch out, hell, miles davis had sitars sometimes. and bass clarinets!!!!

  • honestly i agree

i am indeed a metal palyer in my own right and i am in my school's jazz band

and i know when its time to cool down the axe and let the melodic instruments of jazz do their thing. Guitar Bass Keyboard and drums serve as rhythm. they are the rythm for jazz, guitars dont play main unless for some special occasions.

now the solo.. it couldnt have been more metal

  • hes a great player

really .. just ... its JAZZ band

he needs to cool down on his metal

  • this song was meant to have a rock swing to it

  • ?

i did a soft rock solo

    for my concert

    no swing

  • nah it isnt. Straight rock im 'fraid.

  • were playing this song in my jazz band too. Except the guitar isn't the only thing that you can hear...

  • Were playing this song in my jazz band class... we sound much better though... I love the first trumpet part! its so pretty! haha. the tennor part is great too... and i'm not just saying that cause its what i play... haha.

  • such an enthusiastic crowd

  • omg i love that song we played in our jazz band too the solo was awesome !!!!!!!!!!!

  • ahhhhh i played this song in jazz band!!

  • yea well played, every part about it. i really enjoyed the pinch harmonics he did, sounded GREAT. however in the last 2 measures of the song (first trumpets) its supposed to climb the scale up louder, it goes into FF so its supposed to stay loud with trumpets. my middle school jazz band played this and it was a fun song, except we used a drum solo instead of a guitar solo.

  • Haha... Thanks for your comment man... Our guitarist is amazing... Our entire jazz band would be amazing if we actually had some decent trumpets... Only one of the five can read music haha

  • my band is playing this song i play trumpet

  • Nice donovan always showin off but he is a great guitarist we used to hang out all the time and play guitar

  • This is a pretty fun song to play. My middle school jazz band is actually playing this. Sort've slower... and no guitar solo, which was really good. We are one of two middle school jazz bands in the city.

  • another great song. one of my favorite jazz songs.

  • What a great jazz band!!. That guitar player is awsome too. But then,.. come to think of it, I guess it does`t hurt being the grandson of Tony Rice does it? yeah, thats what I thought!!!. D.N.A speaks volumes

  • very talented young man & the entire jazzband sounds great.
