@ThomasRC51 i have an sp-1 and i might fit a sp-2 swinging arm to that but not the other way round lol.....it's clearly an sp-2 swinging arm fitted to your sp-2 only a person that knows nothing about these bikes would mistake them......i have owned mine now for 7 years... yea it's not the fastest thing out there and I have ridden the lastest gsxr's R1's etc and great as they are , they just dont feel as special as my sp-1.....it's staying with me
@scorpionkk I agree with you. The SP1 had that swingarm and 133bhp I believe, and then the SP2 had a much nicer swingarm and about 136bhp and better fuel delivery. So maybe this is an SP1 lmao because I don't know why anyone would put a SP1 swingarm on it. Easy to tell, just find out the year
I drove many bike, whetcher Harley, Ducati or Aprlia, this bike is an very reliable bike from all the others. I have now 2 RC 51, one for every day an this one just for normal use. The best decision I ever made from all of my V2 bikes
oil, filter, pads , chain, sprocket..thats all u need to change on a jap machine...But i know where u come from a Ducati..haha..Ducati is badge, not a well built machine to last you for years..How many engine services, repairs yo had on your ducati so far?belts, tensinors, valve adjustments?
none to be fair. It's lasting a lot better than my mates jap machines. The only thing with it is that the belt change intervals are closer than i would like - being only 6000 miles apart, and the service costs are higher than a jap machine - but knew this before i brought the bike, so i can't complain really. Do you have a bike yourself?
Ye, i have a custom Z 750 ..Regarding its engine the only maintenance is an oil and a filter change and thats all..Runs like a swiss watch. You can check my bike il send you the link to my vid.U never seen one like mine im pretty shure :o)

that high pitched engine chatter......i have been hearing it on a vtr i recently bought and its been worrying me. i have heard it on pretty much every video i see. so i should stop worrying?? it is absolutely normal? :) if you ignore the rumble of the pipe you will hear what im talking about.
This bike pushed everybody to step it up on the Superbike circut! It's not a bike you see everyday which is the best thing about it. Kudos to Honda! Great motocycle! I miss watching Nicky Hayden battle Ducati on this bike. And thats coming from a Kawasaki die hard fan!
It's a huge shame Honda never continued production of these. They were building them at such high standard, they made a loss on nearly every one they sold.
It's not just the best sounding sport bike ever built. It's a piece of racing history. If I had the time, I'd get myself one and restore it to full glory.
So true! Not everyone likes that sound of a Vtwin but for people who know Racing, they would really appreciate this bike. It was the only bike able to take down ducati at the time. I think people are more into the straitline top end speed of the inline 4's over the torque, and cornering of these bikes. Amazing bike though! I'm a Kawasaki fan but actually want an RC51.
I'm agreeing with that! Personally I think that chunky, throaty noise produced by Vtwins is without a doubt superior to the 'wooosh' of their cylinder bretheren. It's a huge head turner, especially in the highstreet.
Built to take the crown of the most highly regarded winning team of the centuary, and it did just that.
I think it's down to people being scared of the temprament of a V twin. They're a lot more fussy with correct gear shifts and such.
AMEN Brotha! So true! When it first came out and Hayden was dominating Eric Bostrum on the mighty ZX7R which was my favorite rider and brand of bike! I hated this bike lol! Then when it started taking down Ducati I began to respect it. They should bring it back!
i hear you on the shifts being clunky. but then again it adds to the experience of a twin. i mean who wouldnt want to ride a a barking beast over a whining toy. btw the whining toy is still fun
hi,i bought a sp2 a little while ago.sadly, its not in a very good condition. i would like to put some tlc and a lot of money into this bike. unfortunately, i dont know how to make this bike unique, performance and chassis-wise. im also living in south africa, wich makes good parts hard to come by. if there is anyone who can help me with a couple of ideas and names of trustworthy suppliers,i would be thankfull.
you didn´t understand anything why this bike is made like this. Keep buying yourself an stock bike, most of the guys like you go and put some aftermaket japanese parts on it and feel like kings. To take a risk and change a colour you´re to much of an chicken because you´re afraid someone wouldn´t like. Come overhere and I show you who is gay. 4 line sure don´t even know anything about SP2
Well considering they still make Ducati's that are faster than the RC51 I don't think they would stop making it because it was too crazy...did it really make 180hp??? That's crazy!
So the race edition was probably around the same as the Ducati 1098S then as far as horsepower? Well no one seems to know WHY they stopped making it or if they're going to bring vtwin sportbikes back...
Friend of miine has an 1098 S, he drove it on the track last summer, and I drove an RC 51 with full HRC Kit. He had no change. I was hard to believe for me either, but the italien are better in design rather than engineering
You guys are killing me! Race Edition? You mean the 2004 Nicky Hayden? That was just stickers. If you tune an RC you might get 130hp out of it @ 10,250RPM. Stopped making it in the states in '04? Killin me! That bike was avaliable until it was discontinued in '06 in the States. I know cause I got an '06 in 06 in the states. Instead of making yourselves look more dumb that you already have go and search for RC51 horsepower. There is an article that a very reputable mag did on the RC.
That bike paint must be expensive. I prefer a low profile option about paint. Like a race machine with no sponsors. But to sell it, gulf style, you will take a few hours.
because this guys wait and see what Ducati is comimg up with and than they burn the italains with an new V4 or V5, just wait, Honda is coming up with something really nice prtty soon, they always did in the past
these are great sounding pipes, and i assume they have a deeper sound than what you have recorded, i have satos on mine. The satos sound good but these are very clean and deep, i would like to hear you do a fly by with them.
is not quiet finish yet, we´re just putting in an new MV Agusta F4 1000 58 mm forks stage 3 Oehlins springs & oel, optimated from Hubert Hoffmann, complete for racing purposes, with Nissin 6 piston brakes also from MV Agusta F4 1000 Ago, custom made yokes, CRC Clip ons, Matis M4R steering damper, duo Xenon lights, Rizoma mirrors
Carbon pipes arent recommended on the SP2 because the engine destroys them. I have an SP2 and my dealer told me to get titanium pipes rather than carbon because they lose their color very quickly on SP2's.
you just have find the right set up, with the right map you`ll will be alright, they are many fuck ups who are talking much but don´t know what they´re doing, we are doing this for many years and just getting good feetbacks,
that´s a big difference, the other VTR 1000 Fire Storm or you call it in the staates Fire Hawk has only 125 hp and is an Touring bike, all other VTR 1000 SP are Super sportlers
In that case I will get the carbon pipes. Im getting the fairing replaced with carbon fibre and all the frame and swingarm are gonna be powdercoated black. Im also looking into fitting the Ducati 1098 mirrors with built in indicators onto my Sp2... if it works it should look really slick and unique :)
What? What can you do exactly? Powdercoat the swingarm and frame and make the mirrors fit the fairing? You in Germany yeh? Im in Italy. Time period? How long would it take for that work?

Nothing to worry about.
Having dual overhead cams on a v-twin that can rev requires a lot of gears. They cut the teeth straight for power, which increases the whine.
Many of us think the sound is cool.

Oh my!! Great sound!!!

these are great sounding pipes, and i assume they have a deeper sound than what you have recorded, i have satos on mine. The satos sound good but these are very clean and deep, i would like to hear you do a fly by with them.
liquidgd 4 years ago
you should shorten your satos about 7-8 cm, give them even an more aggressive sound

Carbon pipes arent recommended on the SP2 because the engine destroys them. I have an SP2 and my dealer told me to get titanium pipes rather than carbon because they lose their color very quickly on SP2's.

if you're running a power commander to adjust your fuel:air ratio, you should be fine..
dentrecords 4 years ago
it's the heat that kills the pipe. the carbon fiber becomes brittle from the heat. i put high mount titanium harris on mine.

you just have find the right set up, with the right map you`ll will be alright, they are many fuck ups who are talking much but don´t know what they´re doing, we are doing this for many years and just getting good feetbacks,

whats the difference from the SP2 and the vtr 1000 without SP2?
Nuggerz 4 years ago
that´s a big difference, the other VTR 1000 Fire Storm or you call it in the staates Fire Hawk has only 125 hp and is an Touring bike, all other VTR 1000 SP are Super sportlers

ENightmare69 4 years ago
If you want it just like it just let me know, we will do it for you, cheers Thomas
ThomasRC51 4 years ago
What? What can you do exactly? Powdercoat the swingarm and frame and make the mirrors fit the fairing? You in Germany yeh? Im in Italy. Time period? How long would it take for that work?
ENightmare69 4 years ago

cheers Thomas
