You will probably get more efficiency at the low speeds encountered with a bike from a single large-diameter ducted fan running at lower RPMs than a bunch of small ones. Also you might want to look at Fankart.
@Entropy512 checked out fankart - cool! yes - lower wind speed over larger area would probably work better - haven't found anything like that on the cheap (sub-$200 for 6+lbs of thrust) yet...
Hi its not a bad idea the efficiency is only 30% of a direct electric drive and the noise is a bit of a hazard as you cant hear the traffic coming.
But a chain drive makes a noise too and has mechanical wear issues this system can be very reliable and the efficiency losses can be tolerated as its not much energy consumption anyway
Here is an 8kg thrust ducted fan which would make it more interesting
you arent really going to get any real help with those too small i love the idea man but the power required to run those and the cost and how much help they would actual give is not enough for all the effore :)
You need the jet "ducts" your missing the "D" on your EDF!!

You can use one or two 120mm fans, enclosing to create a scoop on the front and a silencer in the "exaust".
