@DoctorMGinius i have a few video game music vids like this on my channel that i don't really want on there anymore so instead of deleting them i made them unlisted
do you guys remember one of the first missions "block the raptors entering the visitor center" ? i took me forever to figure out that i had to push that stupid crate... LOL.. when i did it by acident i swear i reseted my snes just to do it agian, after that the game was easy :) ... there's one thing that i also remember.. in the back of the cover, it showed diferent levels than the ones in the game.. anyone noticed this?
The lack of a save feature and the overall difficulty of the game combined with that, plus the fairly easy gameplay against the dinos made this one mediocre, but I always thought it had some cool ideas and, of course, some great music.
@outtagoodnamesdangit Yeah, the lack of a save feature combined with the games length made it a brutal playthrough (not to mention the general confusion about completing mission objectives). The ending was anti-climatic, as well. You didn't even get to see the helicopter that lifts you away to safety.
I wanted to fight the t-rex, always wondered why you never battled him at the end of the game (after all, the 3rd gate you released would have allowed him to wander out of his paddock).
@TheJamesrocket The game was mediocre, but not because it was "meh" all over. It had a mix of good and bad. It had great music, it set up a daunting atmosphere, the gameplay was involving, really giving the sense that you were there.
But once you figured out how to farm up huge amounts of ammo, killing enemies in one hit became easy and the 3D parts were way too simple. And again, the stuff you mentioned. The Sega Genesis version wasn't the greatest game ever, but it was much more rewarding.
I remember back in 4th grade, we had a school field trip to explore some indian cave up a mountain. I spent the entire hike playing these tracks in my head :D
Since I saw a few people who wanted to know where to find this music, and seeing as I just spent the last hour feverishly trying to do just that, here's how:
Go to Zophar's Domain to download the .spc's (snes music file format) for the tracks, + for any other games you'd want For windows, apparently all you do is download a plugin for winamp. But for mac's, use Game Music Box, load the files and do 'record track' under File.
Man this was great music! The game was almost impossible to beat, especially with no save function. It took me many, many hours. But after a few game freezes and a kick-ass map/chart that I drew up with all of the info, I finally beat it. One of my great achievements in life. :P
Loved the tunes on this game, even though i was sitting in the dark at 12 years of age with nothing but that catchy elevator music frustrating me as i went about the lonely park....SHITLESS......and of course the no-save function....so one day i got my shit together and set out to finish it....took nearly 13 hours with a few pause breaks.....i only done it once, but i was damn fuckin proud cos this game took no prisoners
The game was very popular back in 1993. The downside to the 3-D is not enough graphics like id Software DOOM, as in raptors not walking through a door or elevator. Like the raptors see you, but they don't come after you, they just stand. But it is kind of eerie with the Indoor 3-D music playing.
@ADMPirata Yeh totally!! Bethesda shud make it, using their same engine thats used for the Elder Scrolls game, so Imagine Skyrim as the Island, the visitor's centre, and all the places in glorious nex-gen graphics, big and open to explore, proper survival.
This game rocked my world as a kid!! I would play it myself and fail horribly, but my father rocked at it. He also recorded beating the game on a VHS. Gotta have proof I guess. :S
@uakronkid Tell me about it the game actually followed the story and built on parts the movie hinted on like the ship. Now I don't even bother even looking at game tie-ins
@DemiLoc ya, that was actually the one i was talking about. we had both of them, but when i played them when i was like 3 i liked the rampage one lol. every few years i get the sega out and play those games again and a huge wave of nostalgia hits me. those were good memories...sigh
game was awesome, well thought out, very hard to master, took forever but really made you think, music was badd ass!!!!! dont remember if i actually ever got all of the eggs!!!
I used to hate this game as a kid because I had no idea of what to do. Dicking around was all I really did. Eh, at least A Link to the Past had a map screen and clear objectives, this game felt cryptic like the original LoZ.
Now I'm an adult and I really appreciate this game a lot more now than when I was a kid. Music is freaking awesome, and now with the internet of today if I'm ever lost I can get a walkthrough online to help me out.
@necros782 wow, I never was able to, I'd have to try again.. I got to messing around with the dino eggz in the boat, that's all I remember from 15 years ago...
@HanzoHattori15 Insanely long and hard, but yes. As far as I know, there is no save... so once you started, you HAD to finish it. Which ultimately turns the game boring and repetitive.
Anyway... still a great game. :D Spent several hours playing and don't regret about it.
Yeah I know me too. But whenever I would do it I would just turn the lights on volume down and Some techno music of mine on lol. But damn this game is the longest game ever. I beat it once and I don't feel like doing it again.
@mastersirus1985 i am sorry, but i disagree with you. the genesis game is even more frightening. need more proof, just look for some gameplays of the genesis version.
yessss it was... the same happens with the end of Jurassic Park 2: the chaos continues: the best super nes intro EVER, and a REALLY silly ending. But the game was good too.
I did it, but I had to call the Nintendo hint line twice, and it took over eight hours. And the ending is basically a screen that says "congratulations." I was a bit ticked off. Still a good game, though. It just REALLY needed a password system or save function.
Man this takes me right back to my childhood...The composer that made the music for this game really and I mean REALLY out did themselves, They certainly earned their paycheck here. Great game!
I was lucky beating the game because I could hardly read, and when I did I was so excited, and then it said you escaped the island... I was for all of that!
