When I was in high school, I kept being amazed at the pointless discussions kids got into about which game console was better (nintendo n64/sega Dreamcast/ Sony PSX / Sony PS2). People who obviously didn't have a clue would spout random nonsense about FPUs, GPUs, triangles/s, vertex shaders, etc. just to trash a system they of course only played on for two minutes in the shop, just because they owned "the other one".
