It was directed at black people so there was alot of swearing which I thought they should have kept out of there but other than that I liked it. Mostly I liked the parts with James Marsden. Overall most people don't like black comedy (as in dark comedy, jokes about depresing things) but I can get behind it cuz I'm kind of cold.
The 2007 version is much, much funnier. Its much better at satire than the 2010. The 2007 is far more wittier, intelligent and has interesting characters. The problem with 2010 is that its like any other typical American comedy. Sorry, but its fact. It lacks a bitter tone with a clever use of direction and subjectiveness. Without being too biased, British comedy is much more sharp-witted and humourous than Americans. (Not trying to start a war here!) (Want to argue - Shaun of the Dead, anyone?)

What 'screenwriting'? They just copied the script, almost EXACTLY from the original British (although I heard that the British one was a remake of a hong kong one but fair enough.) If they were going to remake it, they could've at least attempted to put an artistic spin on it. Instead they copied the other one scene for scene and just added a disgusting element to the potty humor. Maybe THEY were the ones who were high when they made it, and therefore thought it was hilarious.

This movie gets a negative 3 stars from me. It had no good plot the characters were just out of wack. It was just hype with all those big names but it was horrible . It shouldve been " Death at a movie". Tracy Morgan over did the stupid role as usual.

Tyler Perry dosent have to worry. The sad part is that I was looking foward to see Death at a Funeral but its look likes Seth McFarlen made that im surprised that Cleveland Brown was not in the movie. I dont like that kind of joke @ work why would I love to hear it at a movie.

Death a Funeral was already remade in 2009 before Chris Rock's remake the Bollywood film Daddy Cool which had exactly the same story and the same poop jokes. check it out it's probably better than this.
I saw the original here in America and I thought that it was really funny. I don't think that Americans should do remakes of British films, especially comedies, so when I heard that they were doing this I thought it was going to turn out really bad. Now my suspicions are confirmed. I'm going to rent it though just to see what they did with it.

OK, here we go. I JUST saw this movie about an hour ago. A BIG dissapointment. I found that the jokes were stale, overused, and kinda disgusting. Also, I think that the plot was too twisted to me. I was thniking of this plot as a weird and twisted thing here. Same opinion with Clash Of The Titans, I was expecting WAY MORE!

"I don't know when it became okay to show actual poop on screen". Funny, I had the same thought after seeing the British original. Also, when you mentioned that James Marsden was creative playing high, I'm not sure if I can buy that. This is literally a shot for shot remake, like Psycho. I don't praise the original, either, in fact I had a hard time staying awake, but it was pretty late.
Just as you'll observe in most of Tyler Perry's stuff, the trailer for this film suggests that yet another African American comedy is going to be working hard to make white people look ridiculous by comparison. Just look at the poster, even. Everyone's sharply-dressed except....yes, James Marsden. Not only is he without proper attire, but his mouth is wide open and he has a lunatic look on his face. Meanwhile, everyone else looks rather smug.

I saw the movie today on exclusive-movies.co111m (delete the 111) I've seen other comedies this year but this by far has to be the funniest! Hilarity abounds at this funeral. It's a great time to be had by all. Laughs galore! I wanted to see this movie hoping to just be entertained. But,Wow! This was a great movie. Yo there is no point starting a racial debate on this shit for real... but to be honest the movie is an African-American comedy mostly likely directed at Black people. And to get the opinion of none other than White people might have been a mistake. 5/10??? really??? with a line up like that not possible!!!

@BeyondTheTrailer if anyone had ever seen the original there are grounds not to see this. although the British one wasn't received well here in theaters (information from this video) my friends and I loved it while our tastes go from fanboy, mainstream only and the occasional indie flick.
it sounds like they actually stuck to the general storyline and little twists as well, so it could be BeyondTheTrailer who just doesn't like this

There is no such thing is Black Humor Funny is funny and a good film is a good film. The Film was not bad but in a directors point of view " Not a white persons" the Movie was not great. This movie gets a negative 3 stars from me. It had no good plot the characters were just out of wack. It was just hype with all those big names but it was horrible . It shouldve been " Death at a movie". Tracy Morgan over did the stupid role as usual.

Black people can have a different view on things because they might relate to the situation or have different views. Sorta like how white people think a dog should eat off the same fork as them right after they just licked their sack * please note all white people do not do this...but its plain naasty.stuff like that (some) white people feel is normal is humor to the black community. Different struggles give people different sense of humor

I saw this movie..... it was hilarious! the whole theater was laughing.......... all the funny parts where NOT in the tailer.... and there was not poop all over the movie!

Tyler Perry dosent have to worry. The sad part is that I was looking foward to see Death at a Funeral but its look likes Seth McFarlen made that im surprised that Cleveland Brown was not in the movie. I dont like that kind of joke @ work why would I love to hear it at a movie.

Death a Funeral was already remade in 2009 before Chris Rock's remake the Bollywood film Daddy Cool which had exactly the same story and the same poop jokes. check it out it's probably better than this.

I saw the original here in America and I thought that it was really funny. I don't think that Americans should do remakes of British films, especially comedies, so when I heard that they were doing this I thought it was going to turn out really bad. Now my suspicions are confirmed. I'm going to rent it though just to see what they did with it.

Any film with Martin Lawerence is bound to be awful, even if it was stared Daniel Craig, Helena Bonham Carter and Morgan Freeman, and directed Martin Scorsese.

OK, here we go. I JUST saw this movie about an hour ago. A BIG dissapointment. I found that the jokes were stale, overused, and kinda disgusting. Also, I think that the plot was too twisted to me. I was thniking of this plot as a weird and twisted thing here. Same opinion with Clash Of The Titans, I was expecting WAY MORE!
My Grade: a 5.5/10
- Twisted/Odd Plot
- Overused Jokes
- Made Chris Rock and Zoe Saldana look BAD!

"I don't know when it became okay to show actual poop on screen". Funny, I had the same thought after seeing the British original. Also, when you mentioned that James Marsden was creative playing high, I'm not sure if I can buy that. This is literally a shot for shot remake, like Psycho. I don't praise the original, either, in fact I had a hard time staying awake, but it was pretty late.

Just as you'll observe in most of Tyler Perry's stuff, the trailer for this film suggests that yet another African American comedy is going to be working hard to make white people look ridiculous by comparison. Just look at the poster, even. Everyone's sharply-dressed except....yes, James Marsden. Not only is he without proper attire, but his mouth is wide open and he has a lunatic look on his face. Meanwhile, everyone else looks rather smug.
