I'm sorry for your families loss, it doesn't matter the age of the kitty it's still such a sad thing to happen. Your son seems to really love the kitty and it's hard to see our kids get upset as much as we do as parents . Sometimes we're the ones who have to show a brave face, I'm not one of them. :< Animals teach us all how precious life is and it should be respected as such, weather it's an animal or human .

Hello, Iamphoenixrising. I had a pet bunny (Pearl) who passed away a year ago (she was 10 years old) because of problems with arthritis (and basically old age). Seeing this video makes me happy to know that there are others in the world who really care for their pets as much as you and your son. Thank you very much for the video.

My son's favorite of our first "set" of cats died after a painful, fatal illness & it was so horrible to lose him (our 2nd died a yr later). My son bought a plaque that said "Best Friend" ; we buried him in the back yard. Sometimes I still cry over the loss of our beloved kitties &, even though we have two more now, we'll never forget our first two. They were Family. And yes, it made us cry & we're not ashamed to admit it. Agreed: Real men DO cry. Something's wrong if they don't.
I an agree to that. I used to have a Dog named Willy that we had since I was in Elementary School. He died on May 10th 2010 due to Tumors in his Bladder and he was in Pain so we had to let him go. I was depressed for a long time. I kept crying in classes, not even wanting to move along. Even when he was gone, I still think I will hear him bark in the morning and maybe play a good tug-a-war with him but no.
He still makes me cry still..sometimes I can feel him with me right now...
to day my cat got hit by a car. his name was max. it was verry hard to say goodbye. at first i thought i was dreaming. i might be boring you but that cat was my little buddy.

Our Fatty lived 5 or 6 years past the point the vet said he would make it - fully & healthfully too! Just cherish each moment knowing it may or may not be the last you have... death is merely a natural extension of life - those we love carry on within us forever... feline, canine, or human!
It is hard to say goodbye. I never got the chance to say goodbye to my tabby who'd been with the family for about 14 years. She passed away at the vets. When I got home, Dad had brought her home. She was on a blanket in her basket. She looked as if she were asleep. Cats bring so much love and joy into our lives. It hurts so much and leaves such scars when they pass away. Every life should have nine cats.
and he died very tragically. he was bery sick and his lungs eventually filled up with fluids so he drowned. he had seizures right before he died and i was holding him close to me when he died. its really hard for me
I know how your son feels. I had my cat, Midnight, for 17 years. He was killed in a tragic accident on 9/11/08. He hid under my mother's car and she didn't even realize he was there. I feel bad because she can't forgive herself. He had some kidney problems too, but he was a feisty little guy. It's hard to think about it, because everything I see reminds me of him. My mother got him for me when I was 10 years old. I had tore both of my acls and she got him to help comfort me. I miss him.
My fat cat was 14 years old....He was the gentlest thing you would ever come across....he wasnt real fat but he had a tiny bit of extra on him.. he used to be around me all the time when i was a baby

i bought a cat teddy for my grandma when i was 15....he lived for 20 years, and i cried really hard when i put him down just 3 weeks ago....this video is beautiful.
it hurts me just to watch this through, hes now in gods kingdom so really its okay, just be prepared to meet him inthe next life where he'll want you to do all that 'cleaning his shit/ putting out new food' etc for him daily :)

@Iamphoenixrising I have two, when my first died it hurt like hell, it still gets to me. I have a bengal and a tiger, the bengal was found near death, the Vet said to put him down, but the person that found him told the Vet to give it a try. He was infested with everything you could imagine and he not only made it, he became a terror (in a good way.) I have had him since the Vet ok'd me to take him when he had just turned 8 weeks old, that was int he summer of 2001.
@Iamphoenixrising He will be 10 this July and I know he is hitting a milestone in his life and it's scaring the hell of me. The Tiger is 5 years old, it took them exactly 24 hours to get along, never a fight, never a hiss, nothing, the best of friends. I know when they are gone, this will be it for me as well, I can't go through this anymore, it just hurts too much.
Fat boy certainly lived a long life. And by looking at this movie, it was a wonderful long, long 16 years. I hope he passed away quietly and may he rest in peace.
Remember that even though he does not walk this earth any longer, even though he is not alive for you to hold or touch him, he is there in your heart and in your memories, as is everyone, humans and pets, that we love truly.
Very touching tribute to your baby. I cried all the way through it. We just started sub-q fluids on my baby a few days ago, although she was diagnosed with with renal failure very early almost a year ago.
She also has chronic asthma.

I came back and watched this again, this time reading the About This Video description. It is extremely moving, and yes, the title is so accurate: it's not easy to say goodbye. Those of us who have shared your experience - a fair number here on YouTube - know this from our hearts.

That was so lovely, I think my old cat might have kidney failure, we are going to the vets on Wed, she has blood tests 3 times a year and last month they were normal but I realise nothing shows until the disease is 75% advanced. As i was watching this, my cat was lying at my side, and she hates me crying, she looks up an puts a paw out looking very concerned, so ive had to try and hide the fact im crying.
I am at work and had to close my door so my co-workers would not hear me cry. I lost two cats within one year, and I really will never be the same. Some people doubt that animals have souls. They do. And they teach us about life and love and loss. I love you Asher and Laliah, and I miss you very much.

we had a little dog for 13 yrs, it was so difficult to let go when her time came up. hardest thing i ever did was have her put down, due to her renal failure. there was nothing the vet could do for her.
I had my cat till he was three and he's been gone for almost two years,he......had to be put down for bladder problems and i still miss him to death i was in the fifth grade so now im in the seventh grade and i wish he was still around im eleven so i was ten when i lost cause im turning twelve...so i feel deeply to your loss but eventually you will get over it,it's hard and it takes a while but.....eventually get over it. so im sorry about what happened.

I'm an ole softy - I cry a little with each fish I lose too! We miss our loved ones (animal & people) - but the important lesson is to know that death is simply an extension of life & those we love are not gone as long as we hold them in our hearts!

this song is one of my favourites ever and i want it played at my funeral. i had a cat Sammy who was my best friend when i was younger. we went on holiday for 2 weeks and she got really ill, but we didnt know. i believe she held on until we got back. she was put down the same day, i dont know how long i cried for :( she died at 18. and now my grans cat Podge (15) is going down hill and i cant bare to think of loosing her to :(

I guess it touched a personal side of me because I too lost my cat three years years ago and I still miss her terribly. She was beautiful just like Fat Boy was. I lost my cat yesterday for chronic renal failure. My cat-boy lived with me 11 years. 5 days ago died him cats mother for FIP. I am destroyed but I will never forget. Thanks for this beautiful video.

oh this made me cry, I have three cats and the oldest one is my best freind. He always sleeps at the foot of my bed, and always comforts me when I'm sad. He's sleeping onn his fave pillow right now. The vet said he only has a few more years left before he dies of old age.

Our Fatty lived 5 or 6 years past the point the vet said he would make it - fully & healthfully too! Just cherish each moment knowing it may or may not be the last you have... death is merely a natural extension of life - those we love carry on within us forever... feline, canine, or human!

It is hard to say goodbye. I never got the chance to say goodbye to my tabby who'd been with the family for about 14 years. She passed away at the vets. When I got home, Dad had brought her home. She was on a blanket in her basket. She looked as if she were asleep. Cats bring so much love and joy into our lives. It hurts so much and leaves such scars when they pass away. Every life should have nine cats.

he meant a lot to me
and he died very tragically. he was bery sick and his lungs eventually filled up with fluids so he drowned. he had seizures right before he died and i was holding him close to me when he died. its really hard for me

I know how your son feels. I had my cat, Midnight, for 17 years. He was killed in a tragic accident on 9/11/08. He hid under my mother's car and she didn't even realize he was there. I feel bad because she can't forgive herself. He had some kidney problems too, but he was a feisty little guy. It's hard to think about it, because everything I see reminds me of him. My mother got him for me when I was 10 years old. I had tore both of my acls and she got him to help comfort me. I miss him.

Aww I miss my Smokey =( My parents had him long before I was born and had to put him down a few years back when I was 20. He had a long life, but I miss his company so much =( This is a lovely video and I feel for your loss, animals really are the most special of friends.

As much as I've grieved for my cats who have passed on, I can't even imagine how it would be to have the same cat in your life as you grow from a toddler to a young adult. Sadly, on Sunday 11 May 2008, Baby Gurl (the Siamese in one or more of these photos), who was 17 or 18 years old, died suddenly in her sleep while we were away from her & she was staying w/ a friend.
No better words than those of this song to describe how it feels. I can fairly safely say that this is the end of the line of "pets" I bring into my life. It's been a long journey & this has been enough.
Get your pet spayed or neutered & love them well - whilst you can!!!

@Iamphoenixrising I have two, when my first died it hurt like hell, it still gets to me. I have a bengal and a tiger, the bengal was found near death, the Vet said to put him down, but the person that found him told the Vet to give it a try. He was infested with everything you could imagine and he not only made it, he became a terror (in a good way.) I have had him since the Vet ok'd me to take him when he had just turned 8 weeks old, that was int he summer of 2001.

@Iamphoenixrising He will be 10 this July and I know he is hitting a milestone in his life and it's scaring the hell of me. The Tiger is 5 years old, it took them exactly 24 hours to get along, never a fight, never a hiss, nothing, the best of friends. I know when they are gone, this will be it for me as well, I can't go through this anymore, it just hurts too much.

Fat boy certainly lived a long life. And by looking at this movie, it was a wonderful long, long 16 years. I hope he passed away quietly and may he rest in peace.

Very touching tribute to your baby. I cried all the way through it. We just started sub-q fluids on my baby a few days ago, although she was diagnosed with with renal failure very early almost a year ago.
She also has chronic asthma.
Watching this has made me realize that the end maybe nearer than I thought. :-(

i still cal my cat inky baybee cat even though he is about two years older than me so he's about 15 which got me thinking how long does he have left. i ran to the living room in tears nd held him for about half an hour and he stayed on my knee for hours bcuz he knows im upset. very well made!! thanks for sharing with us. xx

That was so lovely, I think my old cat might have kidney failure, we are going to the vets on Wed, she has blood tests 3 times a year and last month they were normal but I realise nothing shows until the disease is 75% advanced. As i was watching this, my cat was lying at my side, and she hates me crying, she looks up an puts a paw out looking very concerned, so ive had to try and hide the fact im crying.

we had a little dog for 13 yrs, it was so difficult to let go when her time came up. hardest thing i ever did was have her put down, due to her renal failure. there was nothing the vet could do for her.

I had my cat till he was three and he's been gone for almost two years,he......had to be put down for bladder problems and i still miss him to death i was in the fifth grade so now im in the seventh grade and i wish he was still around im eleven so i was ten when i lost cause im turning twelve...so i feel deeply to your loss but eventually you will get over it,it's hard and it takes a while but.....eventually get over it. so im sorry about what happened.

That was a lovely video. it's so hard to say goodbye to such a true friend. We lost our little girl Marbles a couple years ago and miss her so much. Great song. Very touching.

I had tears in my eyes as I was watching your video. Your cat Fat Boy may he rest in peace was simply beautiful. I guess it touched a personal side of me because I too lost my cat three years years ago and I still miss her terribly. She was beautiful just like Fat Boy was. The song who I hadn't heard before was very sad and sentimental but truly lovely it went perfect with the subject your darling and precious cat. Oh and yes REAL MEN DO CRY, like I said I lost my cat and I cried a lot too.

I'm glad to hear other people, men especially, reaffirming that emotions other than anger are healthy for our boys & men to express! Feeling hurt, pain, sorrow & being able to express it in a healthy manner are vital to all of us. Frankly, I believe it makes males far greater MEN to be able to do so...
