I used to work in a pet shop in H.S., and we used to feed the hard Eukanuba dog food samples to the pacu we had (about 14"long, 9 or 10 "tall) and he would crush those things to dust in the water! I won't talk about the lizards...
Ok, forgive me, either I'm clueless here, or this is total coincidence, but I'm here in Homestead too...we're out there every Friday for TnT. LOVE your videos!!
Yeah, the Pacu's are pretty intimidating! Thinking I need to find a new home for them, but they really are pretty cool!
I have a buddy from South America who says they eat those things over there. Be careful who you give them to, especially if they also want to invite you to a fish fry!
Do you have a heater?? and do you think i could have a pacu in a pond without a heater if i live in california? (since there kinda hardy fish) Thank You!! : )
Hi- I do not have a heater- but I live in deep South Florida. The pacu and others were fine. I'm not sure how cold it gets where you are, I know as a rule CA is colder than South Fl especially at night, so I'm not really sure about Pacu. What I will tell you though is if you like to hand feed your other fish, do NOT get Pacu! Their teeth are made for eating fruit, but they can tear up your fingers too. And they are FAST!! Good luck!
when I grow up I want a pond with piranhas and pacus but I am second guessing myself because I am afraid a cat or a racoon will fall in and get eaten(or maybe even one of the neighborhood kids! :-8)
