Norodom Serey Vudh does not have this kind of nice voice! Panara SereyVuth is the singer in this song, he used to have a band called Apsara in the mid 60's era and that's what the Bat Oun song originally came from! I grew up in that era myself and I know for the fact; when posting singer name, please do it correctly, if unsure you should not put the name.
Hi again. Any chance anyone can tell me where to get a copy of this song? I really dig it, but don't want to open a YouTube video every time I want to listen. It would be great to know where a better version is, too - the guitar must sound terrific at higher quality. Thanks for your time!
sorry if dat phrase "whatever de fuck it was" hurts your feelin'. frankly when i wrote it i simply wanted 2 insert some fun without tryin' 2 think dat it might hurt de feelin' of some people. again sorry.
funny, in the late 60s when i was a kid, i thought it was "korng keb"!! now the sub-titles in this video say that it's "hvo-ung kha-ek", & i listen 2 the song carefully 2 verify, & yeah yeah it's indeed "hvo-ung kha-ek"!! d'ohh!!
sad but sentimental & great song!! makes me nostalgic of cambodia. actually it was a famous song back then in the late 60s. in 1972 or so cambodian tv broadcast a french music film that included this song, sung by sereyvuth himself, altho it was probably a lipsynch.
I really doubt this is HRH Prince Norodom Sirivudh's voice. As far as I am concerned, I would rather say this is Prince Sisowath Panara Sirivuth alias "Sirivuth" of group "Apsara", who created the very well-known song "Anny" in the late 1960s...
in the late 60's when i was a kid i knew that it was sereyvuth. i've never heard of "norodom sereyvuth" or "sisovath sereyvuth" or whatever de fuck it was. it was just "sereyvuth". now i believe that if indeed he's a royal then he must've been a good & humble man because he didn't show his royalty 2 try 2 use it 2 promote his music.
b4 he moved 2 france, in the cambodian "guitar band" stream music he was #1, & in the cambodian mainstream music he was #2, 2nd only 2 sin si samouth.
I really don't understand the way you are using some words such as "whatever the fuck it was"! At that time, Prince Sisowath Panara Sereyvuth only used his first name "Sereyvuth" while he was in the Apsara Band. I did not mean to be agressive but just to add precisions that might be useful.

Thanks for telling. I did a search and was able to listen to Sereyvuth's version of Anny. I like the music of Sereyvuth's version but the vocal, I have to give it to Sin Sisamouth. Heh.
I met Norodom Sereyvuth at NIU for the play about the king Sihanouk in 2000 . I have no idea he can sing .. lol .. my sister and I spoke with him . He is cool guy and well repected to us . We talked like normaly . We called him Log Pou .. lol ..
this song was very famous among non-sin si samouth songs in cambodia in the 60s. a couple years after serey vuth moved 3 france it was featured in a french song movie, which was broadcast in cambodian tv several times in the 1st half of the 70s. its segment was acted on by serey vuth himself, who lived in france. so the song must also have been famous in france.
Great song - it's one I've been looking for! Pkving, do you remember what the French music movie was called? I'd love to try and find a copy. Thanks for your help.

I agree with Prince Ravisisowath, this song was sung by Prince Sisowath Panara Sirivuth! Not by Norodom Sereyvuth! people mixed up with the name.
