  • hahahahaha I laughed my head off .. and Im 13 and a mormon

  • I love this parody. Stone and Parker are comedy masters.

  • 30 people saw this with their granddaughter on accident

  • @thebrandonlangston

    Implying the bible is correct

  • I belieeeeeeeeeeeeve that this is the greatest show ever!

I belieeeeeeeeeeeeve that it should get a hundred Tonys.

And IIIII belieeeeeeeeeeeeeeve that these songs are catchy as all hell.

I'm not a Mormon, but dang it, I still belieeeeeeeeeeeve.

  • Here is a note to those who have no knowledge of the mormon church, they dont even believe half of the stuff in this musical. so instead of looking stupid in this comment section actually study about the mormons first.

  • @TheBrandonLangston Name one thing in this song that isn't a tenant of the LDS church. I'm quite confident that I could direct you book, chapter, and verse of each and every one of these claims at issue.

  • @rudegar20 We dont believe that god has his own planet, we dont believe jesus has his own planet, we dont believe we get our own planet lol. We dont believe that god changed his mind about black people. So there smart ass

  • @TheBrandonLangston . God apparently did change his mind about black people. The first editions of the BOM explicitly describe the Lamanites as black and loathsome people and the Nephites as white and delightsome. While Joseph Smith wasn't much of a racist himself (he did ordain black priests), Brigham Young and Wilfred Woodruff did lay on the racism pretty thick, with official revelation. In 1978 the racism against black people was revoked, again via "revelation,"

  • @TheBrandonLangston God does dwell (and presumably "own") his own planet, a planet near the star Kolob. There are murky interpretations that say that god was as we are now, which indicates some sort of eternal progression, and since we are to mirror his actions, then the higher levels of celestial glory would suggest godhood, albeit still subserviant to Alohim and Jesus. This is so called "deep doctrine" that I was taught in my young men's quarum.

  • @TheBrandonLangston I suppose that you would be correct if you said all mormons don't actually believe these things, but the fact of the matter is that these beliefs are still characteristic of the mormon faith as a whole. Some of these things are on par with the concept of the "heavenly mother" or the Adam-God theory--which hold little sway in the mainstraeam, but the former does currently captivate some fringes of mormonism and the latter was ONCE official doctrine.

  • @rudegar20 I have grown up in the mormon church bro, I think I have a great knowledge on my own stuff

  • @TheBrandonLangston I also grew up in the church, and the church teaches a very white washed history. Most members know nothing of the Mountain Meadows Massacre or that Joseph Smith practiced plural marriage, for example. Ask yourself if you know what the church has spoon fed you or if you've investigated yourself. I recommend you read Richard Bushman (if you haven't already).

  • @TheBrandonLangston I was raised in the church and still am a member. I believe all of it, though they did twist some of it so that it would be humorous.

  • I really want to sing this at my school talent show, but I go to a really posh Christian boarding school, and I don't know whether they'd take it too seriously.

  • @jadelammusic Well this particular song is really only mocking Mormons, so unless you live in Utah it might go over well. You might have to hear this song in context to "get it" though or at least know the general story of the musical.

  • @DeltaKilo3 Thanks for the advice! I live in England, but people over here don't have a good sense of humour. They take religion so seriously.

  • I love the song ._.

  • This song ironically makes the case and rebuttal FOR Mormons and all faiths in general so simply and profoundly. "A Mormon just believes." Absolutely sublime.

  • @SpecialFester Hear! Hear! For me the Book of Mormon fails the giggle test. That said, the Mormons I've known have been, without exception, decent people.

While I found myself guffawing at several points of Mormon doctrine, I found myself rooting for the Mormon kid. He may be crazy, but he has *seriously* big ones!

  • I'm not mormon, but this song is amazing. :) LOL

  • I LUV THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (700th comment)

  • 27 people don't believe.

  • @joliemcrochet 27 people are mormons XD

  • 27 people laughed at this song, and then realized their own religion was just as stupid.

  • The beat to this song reminds me of make a man out of you from Mulan

  • Does anyone else see the many references to the sound of music in this song?

  • @Jameess06 I think it's meant to parody the song "I have confidence" from Sound of Music...

  • whats with the blow job jokes?

  • @twilightgirl4343 no idea

  • @twilightgirl4343 hahahahahaha

  • @twilightgirl4343 It was in an episode of South Park called 'Broadway Bro Down', it was how all the musicals use subtext to subliminally tell women to give their guys blow jobs.

  • @averagenerd Thank you! I've been wanting to know too lol.

  • I believe Mormonism is counterfeit Christianity.

  • @MyMusicalProject I believe that any form of religion other than mine is wrong.

  • @MyMusicalProject Mormonism believes in the holy bible, they believe everything a christain believes. The only difference is that mormons have another book, they believe in the holy bible and they also believe in the book of mormon. So how about you get your facts straight kid

  • @TheBrandonLangston If Mormons believe everything that Christians do, they wouldn't call themselves "Mormons." Also, it states very clearly in Galatians 1:6-9 that there is no other Gospel than that of the Holy Bible. That's just two little details. The Book of Mormon contradicts the Bible on numerous accounts; therefore, the Book of Mormon is entirely obsolete. The Bible doesn't need another book to support it, the Book of Mormon does.

  • @MyMusicalProject if you read my stuff correctly instead of being so assumptive I said that mormons believe everything that christains do, and they also believe in the book of mormon, yeah so read and learn before looking like a biased moron

  • @TheBrandonLangston Really, Brandon? And when did I say that that's NOT what you said? It's also funny that you have to use words like "moron" and "kid" to validate your point. In all honesty, that only weakens your argument. Oh, and what assumptions did I make? I want an exact quote.

  • @MyMusicalProject I think Im winning this argument, you know since I was born in to a mormon family and all, you are just a speculator

  • @MyMusicalProject The controversy of The Book of Mormon is its existence, not its doctrine. It's heavily reliant upon the Bible, in fact, it has several lengthy stretches that match the Bible (KJV) word for word. To Mormons reading this, I'm not only referring to 2 Nephi, as that is only one of many sections that is word for word identical. There are explanations that Mormons will give you, but it is most likely that it is what it appears to be: plagiarism, plain and simple.

  • @rudegar20 Yeah, I think about 1/3 of it was actually just bits and pieces of KJV rearranged to fit Joseph Smith's preferences.

  • just got done listening, and now the girlfriend wants to give me a BJ...

  • @wschmrdr I see what you did there.

  • @wschmrdr awesome reference!

  • @wschmrdr Well done good sir!

  • I BELIEVE.

  • @jakeriding53 mormons love this shit

  • @marmar6489 really? having the piss taken out of them?

  • i think i can safely say, that in the eyes of Mormon's (i'm a christian by the way) that parker and stone are going to hell

  • @jakeriding53 something tells me they'll be welcome with open arms.

  • @jakeriding53 Im a mormon and this makes me laugh my ass off, the way people actually think everything in this song is wrong to what a mormon actually believes in lol

  • @TheBrandonLangston i get it's just making a joke and everything, but i just don't think making a joke at the expense of an entire religion is funny

  • @jakeriding53 Shut up, faggot.

  • @bitchgetsuckin fine words for a mormon, you cunt

  • @jakeriding53 If people don't want their beliefs to be ridiculed, then they should not have such bat-shit-crazy beliefs. If one individual thinks that he is Elvis , should you not (while summoning psychiatric aid) mock? But if there are millions who believe themselves to be Elvis reincarnate, then you can't say anything that may upset them? That is a travesty to any clear-thinking person. The mormons shouldn't be singled out, because they do not have a monopoly of crazy ideas.

  • @rudegar20 that's the point i'm trying to make, and according to some people this makes me a faggot, all i'm saying is show some fucking respect to other people

  • @jakeriding53 There is a crucial distinction you must make between an individual and an opinion. If individual X is of the opinion that the holocaust never happened, then individual Y should probably still respect individual X, because individual X is still a human being (presumably;). However, individual Y is under ABSOLUTELY NO OBLIGATION to show any respect for individual Y's opinions whatsoever. This musical mocks the beliefs, not the individuals themselves. No hurt, no foul.

  • I have goosebumps!

  • This man has a beautiful voice.

  • @McBlaggs yeah you kind of do a bit, it's okay, everyone gets a bit low and a bit drunk sometimes, i hope you feel happier and more in control of your life soon.

  • i believe- i just broke the replay button

  • @jgkeys1995 Regardless of our religious beliefs, I think we can all agree that "arrow to the knee" guys are going to burn in whatever form of hell we believe exists.

  • @MainiacBrainiac Once you take a arrow to the knee you dont burn u bleed.

say what u want but I clearly just made sense.

  • @MainiacBrainiac unless we shoot them in the knee's with arrows

  • @MainiacBrainiac They were going to burn in Hell. Until they took an arrow to the knee.

  • @ShadowBladePhenom I was going to make that joke, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • @SClArKCa A friend of mine told that joke, then he took a bullet to the face

  • @MainiacBrainiac I used to think that, then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • @MainiacBrainiac i used to agree with that but then i got an arrow to the knee

  • Comment removed

  • And I believe! That youtube arguments are stupid

  • @SleeperJauffre thats not a believe, thats a fact of life

  • 24 people aren't ancient boatbuidling jews

  • Atheism, along with conventional religion, Christianity and Islam, has been used by humans in their fear and ignorance, to attmept to justfiey the actions they take against other humans. They don't want their actions to appear as basic fear, basic ignorance, basic hate, because it makes them look bad. So they say God told them to do it. Don't confuse it with the notion that they would have only done it if the ancient "church" required it of them. As if they were so high minded.

  • @BillaWoh I agree.

  • I just saw Book of Mormon on Broadway. Awesome cast and production from beginning to end!

  • I have to tell you guys that Im happy for all you believers of whatever spiritual discipline. I am a Christian myself, but the important thing is not to be a specific religion, but have your spiritual needs met. In my opinion, there is no doubt that humans have a spiritual nature different from other animals. If you are an atheist, I urge you to reevaluate your position. Atheism has been used just as much as religion to control people, just look at any communist state in modern times.

  • @Imisstheoilers

first, atheism has been used as much as religion to control people? even if communist states used atheism to control people (demonstrably untrue) that would be about 50-70 years total.... second, I guess as long as you realize that religion has been used to control people I guess you are on the right path. third, atheists, deists, theists, etc. should All be reevaluating their positions constantly. There are always new discoveries to find. cheers!

  • @tglass55 Atheism is a major tenet of communism. In fact, Karl Marx said that morality and ethics were human conceived notions that had no chance of removing the unfair institutions that ruled the world. In practice, this is used by totalitarian governments to demoralize the populace, such as in the old Soviet Union.

What I mean was that Atheism has been used to that extent, not for the same duration of time. Check out the CIA factbook on various Communist countries.

  • @Imisstheoilers

What is your point Karl Marx also believed in the equality of women. I am sure he drank water and ate food as well. All those things must be bad because a communist thinks they are good? Totalitarian states often dont like religion because they think it takes away from Nationalism. They want to leave a vacuum in peoples lives and fill it with their own ideology. But it isn't the atheism that is controlling peoples lives it is the new ideology that is taught as a religion.

  • @CharlesNauck I think that is a pretty big stretch calling Nationalism a religion. It has none of the qualities of a religion and you are making only a correlation between what you view as a negative aspect in religion to the negative aspect of that nationalism. Nationalism is not a religion, it has no quality of spirituality. Secondly of course they hate religion because it gives people hope to fight against their despotic regimes. Thank you for your response brother.

  • @Imisstheoilers

    1. I wasn't saying Nationalism was a religion. Were you calling Atheism one? (if so SMH)

    2. I was referring to unwavering belief or faith which both can share and this faith along with fear keeps people in line (fear isn't always apart of religion but it is when you look at the the Abrahamic religions)

    3. They hate it because it is competing idea a power structure not completely under their control... all competing ideas are stamped out

  • @CharlesNauck Im not saying Atheism is a religion, although alot of modern atheists want to try and recruit people into the Church of Atheism, if that makes sense.

The use of fear in those religions is vastly overplayed, especially taking into account the New Testament. While I dont tell my brothers from other religions that they are wrong, alot of the teachings in Judaism and Islam I am not in agreement with.

You are right, religion could cause unrest, and they cant have that.

  • @Imisstheoilers

I am sorry but how do you think Christianity and Islam spread? Mostly, through force conversions with a large part of Europe an exception for Christians (though Poland and other areas were force to convert). People are no longer burned as Witches for following Non-Christian beliefs in Europe and low and behold Christianity is losing ground in the industrialized world. Even within the religion of Islam and Christianity you have Hell as a fear based method to keep people.

  • @CharlesNauck Christianity spread because of the Roman Emperor Constantine converting to the religion. Otherwise, Christians would have remained a persecuted population, as they were under every previous emperor. The religion spread like wildfire due to the roman empire's far-reaching influence. Things like the Crusades and the Inquisition happened after Christianity was established.

I agree with you about Islam, it has spread mainly through force, and that is a travesty.

  • @Imisstheoilers you sir, are possibly the smartest person i have ever seen on youtube.

  • @Brockatista Well thank you my good man.

  • @Imisstheoilers

Christianity was persecuted in the Roman Empire because it was believed to be hostile to the state. Soon after The Christian Roman Empire took hold the pagan temples were ransacked sacrifices to pagan gods was punished by death and Paganism was prohibited. The expansion of Christianity outside of the Rome was done in much the same way as Islam. If you didnt convert you were put to the sword. Look up the Swedish and Wendish Crusades.

  • @Imisstheoilers

Now after Europe was converted either through peaceful means or by force Christianity was spread through Imperialism. The Americas, Africa, Asia... ect conquered lands that were then converted. Now it might surprise you to know that often Islamic kings conquered lands and then converted by similar means. I am often surprised that so many Christians have such a poor understanding of their history and their religion. I guess it is easier to just listen to the pastor.

  • @CharlesNauck Christianity was persecuted because it caused unrest in the parts of the Roman Empire that worshiped Judaism. This came from the Jewish sects viewing them as blasphemers. Rather than be executed by the roman emperor for failing to control their citizens, most governors chose to demonize Christianity.

While you try to throw both Christianity and Islam in the same group, they are totally different. Jesus never preached Imperialism and harming his fellow man.

  • @Imisstheoilers Frankly that is just a very poor understanding of history it wasn't persecuted because of the Jews. What anti-semitic garbage did you learn that from? It was persecuted because it didn't accept that the gods of the romans and would not sacrofice to them thus would not show their allegiance to rome. The Jews might have persecuted them on their own but to think the Roman Empire would bow to the wants of the Jews HAHAHA.

  • @CharlesNauck Mohammed and Islam, however, speak of Jihad. In fact, after converting people in Medina and raising and army, Mohammed took over Mecca, the place that had spurned his attempts and sent him fleeing in the first place. Jesus' teachings never said anything such as this was acceptable.

Brother I hope that you open your mind, and put the blame of those imperialistic and intolerant actions where it belongs: on the government that did them. They are not Christian beliefs.

  • @Imisstheoilers

What they preach wasn't what I was talking about (that is a completely new argument which I be happy to discuss with you after we finish the first). This is called a red herring it is an illogical argument. What Christianity teaches and how Christianity spread are not the same. I feel sorry for you that you have to use logical fallacies to worm your way from the truth.

  • @CharlesNauck Actually its the same argument since you were using the way that Christianity was spread as a way of invalidating its teachings. The hard truth is that much of how atheists view Christianity and religions comes with fallacious arguments based on the acts of corrupt humans. They then place the actions of the few as characterizations of the religion as a whole. But if you take the teachings for what they really speak, you can see that those arguments hold no water.

  • @Imisstheoilers

No, but God did. Several times. In the old testament. When the Jews were lead out of the desert they were to cast out several nations and not to show any mercy.

  • @Xerock You are right. The Old Testament is exactly that. Old. It no longer bears any significance other than a historical account of Jewish civilization and where Christianity came from. The New Testament indisputably overruled every harsh and merciless practice and law, and preached God's reconciliation with mankind. Knowing this far superior update and looking at how the Old Testament is written, basically a biased history, makes me question what was divinely inspired and what wasnt.

  • @Imisstheoilers

No it didn't. Jesus healed only a handful of people, meanwhile God killed millions. There's not one mention of any reconciliation between God and man in the New Testament. In fact, Revelations says that only 144,000 people will be saved and the rest of the world will not die well at all.

Its very simple to know what wasn't divinely inspired. The existence of god or the birth of the demigod Jesus. Its all metaphor based on old dead people not knowing jack shit.

  • @Xerock Brother I really wish you would read up on your New Testament before replying in such a way as to mislead other people. The entire New Testament is about reconciliation with God. Jesus is our bridge back to him, when we were separated by sin. You make the point that God killed millions, but if you use the Bible's acts, then you must also use its premises. Those killed were completely wicked people, the equivalent of unrepentant, rapists, killers, thieves, child molesters.

  • @Imisstheoilers

Really? The children and the unborn fetuses were all child-molesting murderers when God flooded the earth? Pharoh's first born child was a 'monster' deserving of death for his father's crime? When David took Bathsheba, God killed his child.

No rational person in their right mind could think that man would or even should reconcile with that monster God of yours. Your God is a child murdering monster and by your own rationalization should also be put to death.

  • @Xerock Continuing on, you make a statement on the 144,000 saved to go to heaven, like from a Jehovah's Witness standpoint, but not even JW think that the rest are going to die horribly and burn in Hell. They just believe that the Earth will be converted to paradise again and the majority of people will live on it.

Although, I would never judge anyone as Jesus instructs, God IS in a position to do so, and he also has the freedom to reevaluate any choice to change his mind.

  • "And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour were released to kill a third of mankind. "

There is no mention of this rebirth, just as there is no mention of an actual afterlife. Just like this reconciliation you keep imagining; you are making things up. Like the Jews had in the old testament, and just like Joseph Smith said about the book of mormon, you are making your own biased history of the world based on words in the bible that simply do not exist.

  • @Xerock Xerock I really feel for you, you seem to have your mind set on your beliefs, for whatever reason, and thats fine. But quoting revelation, especially out of context, and in the face of a presumed war that is going to happen between mankind and God is really not the best way to understand a religion.

Moreover, Revelation is highly symbolic, with few, if any passages being literal. Instead of just reading what someone says about the Bible, I challenge you to read it yourself.

  • @Imisstheoilers I hope you take an arrow to the knee, because then you could post something sensible on youtube...

  • 23 people did not get their own planets....

  • @RachTrinity This show was created by people (Matt Stone and Trey Parker) from the right, who have actually made known their hatred for the left. So there you go.

  • When they decide to make "THE KORAN" let me know then lets see how fast everyone thinks it's great.. I am over this mocking of people's religion.. granted I despise religion but embrace faith.. and this 'reception' is all about one thing.. the need of the left to constantly mock and belittle. shame.

  • @RachTrinity what, are you a girl or somethin'?

  • de fuck is dees!?

  • I am an atheist, and atheists just believe that their version of reality is better than everyone's because it isn't faith-based even though it is faith-based we really just like feeling superior to other people.

  • Does anybody else realize that this song is EXACTLY like I Have Confidence from Sound of Music. Seriously, go listen to it! It's hilarious!

  • @TameCats I think it's supposed to be like that, I think this is suppose to be like a parody of the song.

  • i used to believe then i took a arrow to the knee.

  • @jgkeys1995 hahahahhAHAHAHAHAHHAHANO!

  • @jgkeys1995 I believe that you should shut the fuck up. Thank you.

  • @TheDarkCockRises U MAD BRO?

  • @jgkeys1995 Ya think? XD

  • @jgkeys1995 fuck you.

  • @eggertstwart I know you want to but i dont roll like that.

  • I beliveeee of being FAMOUS

  • Lol, when I went to see this, I thought the part about him wanting his own planet was just because his character was childish.

But it actually is taught in Mormonism! Incredible!! I didn't even think for a second that anybody could believe something so silly!

  • Comment removed

  • @wetterdew It's a good thing you got the details about the afterlife figured out. Otherwise,

I would think this is a really arrogant, childlike thing to say.

  • @bzabrisk You know what's arrogant, childlike, AND delusional? Believing you will get your own planet after you die when there is no reason to think that.

  • @wetterdew Yep nowhere as believable as any other religion....they all sound crazy but that's because most religious books are ways to live your life...and if you don't get that...you are ignorant as fuck.

  • exactly what I say when mormons come to my door 3:20

  • 22 people are dead inside

  • and I believe that ancient Jews built boats and sailed to America

  • Andrew Rannells Y U SO FOXY???

  • Lol, subtext just means buttsex... subtext is an anagram for buttsex. Subtext is a hidden relationship between two fictional characters or possibly real people, most often male.

  • i started listening to this soundtrack just to listen in for the "blowjobs!"

...guess the subtext is just really subtle :)

  • @chimaster9 no, 21 people ARE mormons xD
