@WebPope, Thanks for your comment! a user by the name Xandelsa mentioned a way to change that of the unity launcher in his/her comment below. Though I haven't tried it myself, it might do the job. If I find a way, I'll post an update here, so watch out.
Really cool video! I finally have a launcher (and beautiful icon) for sublime text 2. Quick question though, have you found a work around for the unity launcher?
@OsboView Glad to know i didnt offend you...by the way, i know how an accent feels cuz i also have an accent...btw, how did u get the thing at the bottom? what is it called?
Tried to reply before, but something was wrong with youtube. The panel at the bottom is know as GLX-dock(with openGL) or cairo-dock. You can download it from the Ubuntu software center on your computer.
Thanks!!! I also used your method in KDE for Kubuntu 11.10. Only difference was the location of the Desktop folder. It worked so well, I needed to create some launch scripts for mounting, unmounting and formatting floppy disks which we still use here for some of the cameras.
Great video! If you would like to be able to add your new shortcut to the launcher bar on the left and still retain the icon do the following: (I don't have enough space in this comment for too much detail so here's the short version)
Edit the .desktop file which represents that shortcut (you will find this by listing files in your Desktop folder from terminal). Change the value that says "gnome-panel-launcher" to the path of your icon file. :)
If you are installing items through Ubuntu Software Centre then when you choose an item to install you have the option to add it to the launcher .Otherwise this is the only way I have seen to add one. It doesn't even appear in the search without doing this. You have to launch your program via a terminal. This seems to be a really bad thing for Ubuntu
Thanks for the video. I really can't believe that Canonical has removed this feature. It seems like being able to create a new launcher by right clicking on the Unity panel should be a no-brainer. I went ahead and created a script that runs the command and associated with with a keyboard shortcut to make it easier.
Good video. You should have never needed to make it. I simply cannot say enough bad things about Unity. I need a new favorite distro, and I want to cause an impeachments in Gnome.org. That will help.

@1tirth
Accent is a cultural thing: the world is made of different cultures.
Thanks for appreciating the video. I'm not offended in any way.
