"Morgoth Bauglir" is the final boss, while Sauron himself is beaten a level earlier? Better make Saruman the wizard-boss before and Sauron the final boss, or am I missing something?

2. Sauron was just a servant of Morgoth, Morg is "ultimate badass" in Middle Earth world. Just because Sauron is "last" boss in LOTR movies doesnt mean there was no more powerfull villains in Tolkien's books. In Middle Earth story Morgoth was defeated much earlier tho.

@kalaisaga I am aware of that, I read the Silmarillion. But Morgoth Bauglir is an Ainur and virtually unbeatable. Even High King Fingolfin could only harm him before dying himself. It would baffle belief that just an adventurer would be able to defeat him. Also his size would be a problem in the Diablo1 engine. His skin in the mod is quite disappointing. He is described as huge in all cases, ranging from the size of a mountain to the form that fought Fingolfin, which was many times his size.

yeah, but mind that modding back in the '97 was really hard, not like today, publishers of games often gives you editors. Modding Diablo required reverse enginering and hex editing. Today it is a bit easier coz there are some editors made by fans etc.

Belive me, playing that in 97/98 was great adventure and you could really feel the Middle Earth atmosphere + defeating morgoth on hell/hell is really hard. It was way better balanced then original Diablo imho.

I think it's kind of funny how in the chain above you can see quite clearly from the guy's saying the last boss is this "Morgoth Bauglir" in quotations like its some shit you just pulled of your ass and saying sauron needed to be the last boss with saruman as his sidekick

and then you reply to him and explain who morgoth was and he comes back with a bunch of quotes off of morgoth's LOTR wiki page XD

@Crusader2010 Just FYI, Morgoth is more than just an Ainur, he is one of the Super-Ainur known as a Vala. The Valar are the gods, the rest of the Ainur are just demi-gods. Sauron belongs to that lower grade of demi-god Ainur that includes specimens like Gandalf and Saruman.

@Kihlberg90 because many of mobs in this mod have ability of life stealing. 772 is current hp, 383 is base hp of it. If it hits u many times it can have 20k hp or so...

golem and guardian is a nice combo. put out a golem fast then guardians as many as u can spawn til the golem dies, then make another golem and make more guardians and so on and so on til hes dead. just gotta make sure time this. will be really fast switch :D

No, they changed the entire game play, atmosphere, Unique Rares, and even gave the final boss a killer drop ratio and allowed you to hang around afterwards to mop up whatever you left behind. (whereas in the original version you killed Diablo, game over, have a nice day, cut to endscene scenario).

I miss this game greatly. A Buddy and I played it for 9 months straight, used to HATE dying as we couldn't shut down our computer til we got our stuff back. I've tried many times to somehow play it again, and never was able to resurrect it, sadly.

Unfortunately ---- I live in Taiwan. not as cheap or available as you'd think. And through Ebay ---- shipping is a killer for overseas. I found an Online download after making this comment and have been happily playing Middle Earth ever since.

BTW: Was talking about playing Middle Earth again, not just Diablo. ME only seemed to work with the 1.07 patch and required (originally) an external program to switch the base mod in order for you to play ME rather than just straight Diablo. Worth the effort though, truthfully.

Just coz there's a diablo 2 doesn't mean original classic Diablo sucks! Diablo one is an amazing game and helped shape alot of the new RPGs. It was very well done, and believe it or not, there's a eerie sense that sends shivers down my spine that DII can't replicate! I just bought diablo I again to relive it. AMAZING!

umm, i am not the author of this mod...

and imho this mod is very good, u should play it and compare with original game. it has better balance between classes, lot of new (usefull) items, prefixes, sufixes and you can feel middle earth world there i think, espacialy when wolfes arrive :)

sure, it is not perfect mod, but remember - this is very old mod for very old game, modding these days is much easier than in '90ties

well ok but even though it does have gameplay fixes i still dont think it should be a middle earth mod just because of new monster names. I reckon they should come up with thier own name than leech off Middle Earth's popularity

in times when this mod come out, there was no "lord of the rings" movies, so it wasnt so popular like those days... there was only books, and I think diablo world was not bad to implement middle earth mobs, npc and items... i wouldnt call that "leeching middle earth's popularity", more like expanding fanworld... lot of ppl was very satisfied with this mod... even today most of ppl from first diablo scene will tell u, thats ME mod is the best

no, i quited KO few months ago, sold all items/gold bars and not gonna back to KO for sure

got bored of this game. Every new patch unbalance game, old KO was much better, my friends quiting and with every day there is less and less nice ppl, i dont like new community which doesnt speak english...
