  • is it possable to add the ps3 to the slingbox for video capture ???

  • i want to play xbox 360 games and edit them on my macbook in imovie then send them to youtube i have a wireless connection my connection is not the fastest !! i dont mind the delay of the signal but would it cause lag or interuption while i am playing the game on my tv?? this seems the only quality way i can record 360 on a mac plz reply thanks

    Dom

  • Can you actually just use the slingcatcher on its own without the slingbox.

Slingbox- 300+sling catcher+ Sling link+ other accessories comes out to be alot no?

    Peace

  • so one needs to spent almost a thousands dollars in order to have worldwide cable?

  • costia321,

I'm sorry, but where are you seeing $1000? -- This was a $200 box... two years ago.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • lets say if i record gameplay from xbox 360 using slingbox pro hd, could i import the recorded flim into imovie to edit it? (macbook)

  • so what comes in the box of the PRO

  • Blah Blah blah... it's obvious that you're not interested in any sort of intelligent conversation or religious dialogue, so I'll just say... "I'll pray for you."

  • okay so how do i play it on my cell phone i have a slingbox wtf am i spost to do

  • MASTERLINKX1,

Go to the SlingMedia web page and see if they have a client for your cell phone. Peace, Fr. Robert

  • okayy...so does that mean i can watch my own channel on my laptop or some other devise while another channel can be watched on the tv itself by another person simultaneously???

  • Yes. The SlingBox has its own tuner, leaving you to watch your TV without worrying about what the SlingBox user is doing.

  • I guess what I want to know about this is can I record from XBOX 360 to my comp in HD? It looks like I can. Reason I ask is because I want to record my footage and use it on YouTube. Thanks....

  • i dont see why you would want this to stream to another room, and them play a ps2 game...geez talk about waste of money......now streaming this thing across the city, state, anywhere in the world to watch tv...and now i see the point. its no where near hd quality however(less than sd actually), even though they want to to think that. The slingbox does have a purpose/market, and is a really neat device if you can put up with the sub par video quality. audiophilers and videophilers stay away.

  • ilikecheetos12 --- Well said.

This is DEFINITELY not a device to port your HD to another location at audio/videophile quality. The HD definitely does look better than the SD, but the selling point of the SlingBox series isn't that it can compete with dedicated HD sending units, but rather that it gives you remote access to your content sources.

  • The only bad thing I see with these products is when I hook my 360 up to it their is about a 4 second delay from when I do something in a game and when it shows what I did on my PC screen which makes it impossible to play a game. But other than that I really think this device is worth getting. Thanks for the review!

  • so you can use your laptop like a tv so you can play your ps2 on it right?

  • You COULD... but remember that depending on the sped of your network there will be a slight delay. (The signal needs to be encoded, dropped onto the network, and unencoded on the other side) --- This isn't the best way to play video games!

  • Really it does all that, plus buffers about 10 seconds worth, so you can't play video games since you will see a 10 second lag. If you use control mode, the buffer is eliminated so the lag is slightly less than a second, but the video is reduced to less than 5 frames per second. (Good mainly for using the remote control from the remote PC on a cable/sat/DVR box)

If you use the new version 2 software that is in beta now, that buffer is adjustable between 9 seconds and 1 hour.

  • an Xbox =P

  • How Much Is Slinglink and Do U need The Sling Box Pro For Importing the video game to the computer?

  • love the way he just disses us XD

  • Who disses whom, how? (Seriously... I think my buzz might be wearing off!)

  • i think he dissed canadians..?

  • Really? He dissed Canadians? When? I don't remember hearing anything about Canada

  • how much is the sling link?

  • I've seen them online for as low as $160 for the PRO (The HD version) You can also get the more basic models (no HD, but same function) for ~$100

  • ...looks expensive... but nice!

  • What's the point of having that?

  • The point of having a Slingbox? --- It gives you access to your LOCAL channels, ALL the content to which you subscribe, AND you DVR/Satellite TV --- NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE IN THE WORLD! --- Not bad for a $100-200 box

  • Don't you have to pay like $200 monthly?

  • No. There is no monthly fee. You own the device. You own your cable/DVR/Satellite connection. You own your Internet connection. Once you buy the box, it's yours! --- That's one of the things that I really like about the SlingBox

  • coooooooool! I've been thinking about getting one of thse for a while now. I wonder if you could interface the sling box with that Netgear box you reviewed a while ago.

  • Not your best episode --- looks like it was cut up A LOT. I checked TheTechStop and you say that you're already in Hawaii... so why do you say that you are still in California?

  • Good review... but what about the price?
