You sound like you work for Lush (no offence intended) I enjoy meat, I care and know where my meat comes from, and will continue to enjoy it. But that doesn't mean I don't care about the environment. I hope this doesn't make me a pariah.
About the video generally of the people I know meat eaters found it a little preachy, and the veggies see it as great. Also Jason Schwartzman isn't looking particularly healthy.
Just to clarify: animal agriculture accounts for 18% of greenhouse gas emissions. 18% being the highest percentage. Animal agriculture is the leading contributing factor to climate change. It contributes higher than all forms of transportation on the planet. And this is one aspect of animal agri's vastly environmentally hazardous and unsustainability. There is also the aspects of: environmental violations, waste of resources (including our clean water supply), deforestation (of the rainforest).
@Blonde88Acid You're right about the scale of farming, over producing to a sub-standard to meet "commercial" needs is a real problem which I agree with in the film. But... My ex was a vegetarian and a very good cook, but she could never make a veggie lasagna that tastes as good as a regular lasagna or meet the dietary requirements I need. I enjoy vegetarian food but I can't physically live on it alone, and I find vegetarian food that isn't trying to "meatless versions" much tastier.
I was actually enjoying this untill it turned into another "look how much being vegetarian rocks and you're awful for eating meat". It's the type of farming that is wrong, not eating meat.
@GRZZLYMUFFN There is no such thing as sustainable animal farming. Nor is there such a thing as humane animal farming. There is only "sustainable compared to" and "humane compared to" intensive farming - which accounts for 90% of farms. Most people consume 100% of their animal products from intensive farms.
However, your interpretation of "look how much being vegetarian rocks and you're awful for eating meat" is not what I got. I got: "You have a choice. It's your life." And, it is.
Wonderful to show that plant based foods can be very satisfying and nourishing too! And certainly better for the planet and the animals - It's a win/win all the way around! ;)
First off, bravo for Jason Schwartzman doing this for Farm Sanctuary. I hate to be critical of anything pro-vegan but this just seemed rather bland. Phrases like "greenhouse gas emissions" are meaningless to the mindless masses. (Sorry, those grocery store vegetables looked like Monsanto waxed fruit especially the white lettuce & tomatoes) Overall I'd say this was more cute than effective, since it's too long to be TV commercial. What a shame actual factory farm footage is too 'graphic' to show!
DUUUUUDE Modern agriculture is just plain dangerous. Meat is not the problem. people who eat wild game only are extremely healthy!

I think it's important to make aware what we put in our mouth every day!
You shoud try to find out where you meat is from.
You can't? Don't eat it.

@thestreetsempty Actually, I think the estimates are much higher than that, but the EPA can't get close enough to test factory farms.
