I loved this show when I was little, but I didn't get that it was called "Perfect Strangers." My parents just knew I loved Balki, so they would say "wanna watch Balki?!" or "Balki's on!" leading me to believe the show was simply "Balki." I was too little to get that he was supposed to "foreign" either, I just thought he was silly!
@pecky143: Because its easier to destroy than to create. If only 5% of what is available influences to evil, then it will dominate over the 95% that influences to good. If something like 55% of the content brought into people's minds is whole some and good, then the 45% will overwhelm it. It's not conspiracy theories or anything of the sort, and those numbers can't be used to say 95% of people are good and 5% bad (which is more unwholesome thinking). The small evil you do undos the good.
Ah nostalgia. :-) One of my best friends and I used to do this all the time back then! We loved this show that much, lol!! Great times. Great memories.
me and my sister (23 and 21 years old) actually dance the DANCE OF JOY!!! but just in the swimming pool, that jumping in the arms thing at the end can be dangerous you know XDDD
@afghi420 You're def' onto something. I work for a not-for-profit that works with kids from 10 - 6. We had set up a toy farmer's market with stuffed vegetables and play money. One of the 9 year old girls held up the fake money and said, "I'm Snookie from The Jersey Shore lets go to the bar!"... true story... O.O
This is show is innocent. In this show, there was NO gangsta-type talk, fashion, violence, and behavior. None of that baggy pants half-way-down-his-ass type of thing. It is simply about a very nice, foreign guy (Balki) who traveled all the way from Mypos to start a new life in the U.S.A. (namely Chicago, IL). There he meets his long-lost American cousin (Larry) and moves into his cousin's apartment.
@afghi420 I agree. None of the Saturday Morning Cartoons are good anymore. Nothing impressive about today's cartoons. As a matter of fact, they're just repeats that goes back to 1999 and they never made anything new or groundbreaking. The 80s and 90s cartoons are way better. As for live action TV, all we ever see are reality shows that would do nothing but make me sick. I wish to go back in the 80s or 90s for high-quality TV.
TGIF!!!! i miss those days, the good old days. before taxes and bills and we had no idea what rent or mortgage was. I would never want to be a teenager again or live through high school again, but I would LOVE to be able to watch these types of shows again. a million times better then the crap thats on now!
my uncles do the dance of joy when they were teenagers when they would win a baseball game and they still do it and they are in there 30's now :) WIERD
@contact1araya It's not just Flavor Flav though, all these shows where they live in a house together, they usually have a fully stocked bar so they people can stay drunk most the time. It's just trash TV, same thing with the media today, all lie's and nonsense. Lady gaga is voted one of the most influencial people of the year?! I guess it is just all part of keeping the majority of Americans sidetracked and not thinking about real issues. Any important issues blows over in a week.
@Negropolis do you know the name of the song he plays when doing God? ... is the same he uses with BOMMER WILL LIVE.... and the same he uses when optimous prime says I DIED FOR YAR SINS
@Negropolis I always knew that guy as Jean Luc from step by step. I completely forgot about this show. LOL Ohh Nostalgia Critic forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@afghi420 I agree on the Sitcom/reality tv thing you stated, but arn't most cartoons warped anyway, ex: He-Man, a sword transforms an already buff man into a buff man with less clothes, and he fights an evil skeleton that uses magic but somehow has muscles... and theres adventure time, an awesome show that has a 12 year old in a post apocalyptic future (by word of god/creator) that fights evil, such as an Ice King that looks fat with a coat on but is skinny..todays cartoons are more warped!!!
@Guypersonmanthing3 Yeah. I know what you mean. I totally agree that stuff like this is leagues better than something like.......Witches of Waiverly Place or Hanna Montana...or any of the stuff that is classified as "sitcom" today. I mean there were some shows that weren't that great, but things like Perfect Strangers and Who's the Boss?, Golden Girls...Shows like those had good writing and moral lessons that were actually relevant.
@Guypersonmanthing3 Shows now a days (especially in the past....5-10 years or so) are just so stupid. I would love it if there was a revival of this genre.
@ToraYashaChan Trust me, with the double meanings and innuendos, not all shows these days are stupid (Regular Show, Adventure Time) besides shows from any era are either smart, good, stupid, warped, etc. Look at Sym-Bionic Titan, or Young Justice, if you want a live action show example, lost, for sitcoms Malcom in the Middle, smart, funny, well done shows, plus what do you mean by genre, comedy, sitcom, what?
Appropriate for a Friday, ne? Also, does NO ONE remember this? Cause no one ever gets it when I go ..."and now we are so happy...we do the dance of joy..." And i personally still find it rather amusing.
The way they we're looking at each other in the end you know that this is the version they had to compromise on, the best of this scene probably ended up on the editing room floor because of the networks.
Yesterday, my old high school beat our arch-rivals in the Thanksgiving game, which we almost never do. I was so happy, I grabbed my 3-year-old niece and we did the Dance of Joy! Not that she knew what it was, but she's a good improviser.
When I was in walmart the other day and found exactly what I was looking for at a great price...I yelled...Now we are so happy we do the dance of joy...and grabbed the first person who was available who just happened to be a lady on oxygen....
