  • If you have a coin you can not quite see whats what use the scaner on the computer and sometimes you can just make out what the coin is, when i get a signal like you said its normaly trash but until you dig it you will never know, i dont like to take the chance so i dig. thanks mate.

  • @MADMILLER1000 i have a scanner, i forgot that i had one, its been hiding under my printer for about 2 years. thankyou i,ll have a try and maybe use one of those programs that changes the image slightly and makes detail come out more. cheers fella.

  • Magic finds from the back yard. Well done on the ring. Perserverence pays off on the 6th trip down the garden. LOL. All my unidentified coins and the 'toasted' ones go in a box just like Krisje suggests. Happy hunting.

  • Congratulations. I sometimes get the same thing with my signals, okay sweeping to the right and nothing to the left. I've dug a few of these and they've turned out to be hot rocks or ferrous. Would suggest you dig them all though till you know the signals on your machine. I've got boxes full of unidentifiable or 'too worn to be worth it' coppers, I generally use them for practising cleaning techniques. Good luck, mate and HH, Ian.

  • Awesome Garden Find!!!

  • It could mean that the coin is on edge or to deep for youre sensitivity and the coins that are blank or almost blank i just save in a box just to see how many oldies i've found in a year

    i hope it helps

  • real nice ring :) wish i could help on the signal one way thing but still getting used to my xlt as well :) about the cleaning if you just have to know what they are you could try the baking soda and water scrub thing or if you have CLR over there it works pretty well cleaning up dirt and muck on coins but you have to not leave them in to long and keep an eye on them :)

  • Coin was probably on edge, thats why you get that kind of signal. Nice ring. Congrats.

  • Very nice finds... I have found about one thousand of those clad dimes... That is what we find most of here... Clad dimes and pennies... You have inspired me... I will have to detect my yard again... Best of luck and happy hunting.

  • the ring is a very nice find,,depends how you machine is set up,you do seem to get some odd signals at times ,best way is to keep digging them ,if they turn out to be iron targets youll get to know the tone,,you need to get to know your detector really,,try doing some air test they might help ,,good luck on you next hunt

  • @SuperJammygit I,m still learning my machine, i dont get out often at all and try things. All last year the only setting i used was the Coin setting. its only this year i started changing things, even simply turning up the pre amp gain improved things. i do have a small pile of cards with programs on for doing different grounds or specific target hunting, ive started using these this year, thats why ive found more things. i,m still a beginner.ive done a vid air testing my xlt
