even tho i got moved from sioux falls and all my friends at O'Gorman High School still in my thoughts and prayers REPRESENT...going home in 23 days...i wanna go to the washington pavilion sooooooo bad >.<
Weird place for this but im moving to Pierre, SD for a few months ... Im moving sept 1 and I love tennis. Are there indoor courts? When does it start getting too cold to be play outside sports? Im thinking it may not even be worth bringing my tennis gear. Thanks for any feedback!
@LilyThePotato :O well then were the REAL land of fire and ice...Blistering scorching heat in the summer... Freezing below zero blizzards in the winter
@KreigsMarine2 I think you'll find SD real estate prices 1/10th of the CA prices. We (SD) don't have state income taxes either! I recently looked at a house just outside of Hot Springs in the southern Black HIlls that was 2 acres, 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a double garage with a full woodworking shop above it for $55,000!
@Marty933 Hey Marty, Well the summer I spoke about before is upon us. And we already have a couple of houses that we really like. The best one is in Hecla north of Aberdeen. 3 beds, 2 bath, big lot and in the same town that my mom is from........where she and my dad just bought a place a couple of years ago (it's their summer home). Only $40K. Oh man, we leave in 3 days!!
@KreigsMarine2 I hope you love it there. I've lived in Europe and all over the US and call South Dakota home by choice. An easy going, genuinely nice population, affordable, back to basics kind of place.
@reinecke27 Yeah great, when you get here I hope you can find a job that pays double your current salary( unemployment rate is 12.5%, and cost of living is about as high as you can get). And then you and your kids can learn spanish just so you can order a burrito when you're hungry. And the local news ( not the state news) says that someone else got shot or killed in the next town over ( in CA that's less than 1 mile away). If you dont mind living in poverty the rest of your life, CA IS GREAT!
@reinecke27 Hey, I have a pheasant hunting trip coming up the week of thanksgiving. We will be in the Aberdeen area. More guns=More Fun!! Wanna join us?
Ah yes the JOYS of living in South Dakota....Born and raised in this state! And South Dakota is famous for Rodeos and Ranching, farming, ect....yea so proud to live in South Dakota
@HUSKY57887 You're right. They homesteaded at Pepin, Wisconsin (Little House In The Big Woods), at Walnut Grove, Minnesota (Little House On Plum Creek), at DeSmet, South Dakota (Little House On The Prairie) as well as at Burr Oak, Iowa and Independence, Missouri. "Pa" was a bit of a drifter. Laura and Almanzo later homesteaded near Spring Valley, Minnesota.
If you think about it South Dakota is a cool state we have Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Corn Palace, and a bunch of cool shit but it is all under appreciated.
I grew up in the black hills in Belle Fourche, SD. Go to Deadwood, Keystone, and Lead if you have a lot of money to spend, but If you really want to see the good stuff, take a few dirt roads. We use to go swimming every year at Iron Creek Lake and camping at Rod and Gun campground. It's tucked in the back hidden from the main roads, but that's where the nature was.Just remember, bring airtight ziplock bags. Those racoons are crafty at getting into the food.
i think that ive done just about everything in this vid... it helps that i was born and raised in western sd though... i didnt even know sd had a channel on youtube
Didn't this used to air on public access channel 2 on TCI (now MidCont) in summer 1992 and 1993? This video looks extremely familiar. I moved to Rapid City South Dakota in April of 1992, when Classic Rock The Fox 100.3 was HIT100 KGGGFM (owned by the then Instad Broadcasting, now Dakota Radio), which had Brian McDaniels and Tom Collins as the Breakfast Flakes 6am-8am.
