hi, thanks for the informative video. im interested in playing bagpipes but my hands are quite small, i can play a B flat generations penny whistle if i use the second segment of my fingers. is there any hope for me?
PLEASE HELP. Is there anyway that I can play the highland bagpipe without making that low noise before you play? Like before the actual sound comes out it makes a low duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu noise. lol. Is there anyway to just play right away? Also, How do I stop playing quickly, like to a fast halt? thanks.
yes there are 8 holes but there are 9 notes just to let the beginers know btw i know all my scale dublins g grace note the lot i cant play loch rannoch
i lucky my dad plays the bag pipes and so does my grand dad who is on the cover of a record plus he has played in the tatoo 4 time so he is going to teach me
um.. it has 8 holes that get covered, not 9. 7 on the front, and one on the back (thumb). and the two books you show, really aren't interchangable. The Rythmimic Fingerworks is an -Exercise- book, not really a tutor book, the other from the National Piping Center is a tutor book.
Excellent tutorial, thank you. I've just purchased my first set of bagpipes (including chanter) so this tutorial was very useful for me. Now I just have to figure out how to get a sound out of it that doesn't sound like a dying cow....
@Elfdaughter I play chanter pretty well, just learning how to get on pipes now. you just need a steady breath. Learn basics, scale, grace notes, doublings ect. Depending where u r, find a band group ask ppl for lessons. Im sure ppl will help you out.
I'm learning the chanter

@d1v4dPwnz Lol that low noise is a drone. It's part of the instrument.
ukieflip 1 year ago
@ukieflip I kno but i found out how to do it. I guess I worded it wrong
d1v4dPwnz 1 year ago
@d1v4dPwnz
No. That's the air flowing through the pipes. It needs to flow, otherwise you won't hear any sound.
lordrevan57 1 year ago
@lordrevan57 then why do some pipes tap the top of the drones and you cant hear them anymore :o
d1v4dPwnz 1 year ago
@d1v4dPwnz you can close off the drones from inside the stock BUT you are then pnly playing half the instrument.

He is talking about the hole near the bottom, on the side of the chanter.

@akithered
You have to hold the thing somehow. BI it doesn't just float up to your lips so you can play it.
KaseoMimirin 4 weeks ago
@akithered the air has to come out one of the holes :D I WIN!

You've just blown your money on a Pakistani Bagpipe then?
TarikJosephProd 3 years ago
Probably, but I sold them a month later and got more than I paid for them, so...
(Sold because I was in desperate need for money, and I was buggered if I'd sell my harp...)
