they make you buy weird increments so there's always money left over to pick up calls for $1/ day (if you answer) and if you have made a call or answered that day, the unlimited AT&T thing still works. I just find a wi-fi spot and use iCall. It's an official VOIP app. It restricts free calls to 5 mins. But who the fuck can't get something simple done in 5 minutes? And unlike other VOIP apps, you can also use it on the computer and it never stops giving the free calls away like Vonage or Skype.

For 9 months I got unlimited data with that fucking thing because they had no idea that GoPhone SIMs in iPhones gave you unlimited data. They fixed it and no jail breaking, APN settings change or patch that I've seen yet, gives you the 3G icon up next to the service bars w/o getting a data plan. Still cheaper than their horseshit contract. $20/mo for unlimited text, $20/month if you want to go all the way to Unlimited Data, and if you hate talking on a phone like I do,

Sometimes you just need to start running Blackra1n, 5-10 seconds later you unplug the device from USB, let it finish rebooting and blam, you get the Globe screen that says phone activated and there you go. Occasionally you just have to hard reset it, or give a minute and it'll jog it out of the slumber, but you don't have to actually finish the Blackra1n jailbreak. You will not get access to 3G unless you buy a data package now.

After it's done Restoring, it should say "Phone is Activated on the phone and then you can restore from a backup to get your shit in there, but keep it at iTunes 9.x because if you use iTunes 10.x you end up w/ iOS 4 at the end of it. I use iTunes 9.2.1 personally. You may have to unplug it from USB and replug it to get the Recovery Screen to go away.

iTunes recognizes the fact that it's in recovery mode. Download an .ipsw file with the version you want, but NOT ACTIVATED, ACTIVATED hacks are for other carrier SIMs. I put my activated GoPhone SIM into the SIM tray. In iTunes you can only restore. You want your special custom 3.1.3 *.ipsw file to load, so hold the shift key while click on iTunes' Restore button and it will allow you to pick that specific .ipsw file. Run the Restore with it.

My 3G is set up just like this. I ran iTunes (depending on what OS version you want and I don't recommend 4.x for any 3G, iOS4 was designed for a phone with 4 times the processing speed and 4x the RAM. Stay with 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 if you have half a brain). I put the fuckin' phone into recovery mode.

2.get a 3g gophone simcard u can get one on ebay for 3 bucks

4.activate your sim card online

5.plug that bitch in your iphone 3g and your good to go

I just love simple things you know, high tech is ok, but ti has to be functional! After watching all these videos, I got a prepaid with straight talk cos for only$45 i get web, voice and text unlimited and I really do not need a manual to work my cool phone!

@iLeewarren ... you can switch a sim card from any att phone to another it will work temporarily, but when the towers try to update the the device which it does periodically, it will figure out that the wrong updates are going to the wrong phone, then you will call me at tech support and ask me why it worked and now it doesnt, i will tell you its not supported... we cannot fix what you messed up and then your 3g iphone will not sync on itunes and you will need to BUY a NEW phone!

no 3g, but you have to buy the iphone first from apple, than see which mobile companies it's unlocked to and use their pre-paid sim. no 3g because you won't get 3g on pre-paid.

Of course the AT&T GoPhone Sim works unhacked on an iPhone. AT&T disables data services on iPhones only without a plan. The 3.0 update included restricting data services so this vid is nothing new using AT&T pre-paid vs AT&T plan.

This might be out of date. The firmware is up to 3.0 and At&t is trying its damndest to get iphones off of gophone service.

I tried putting in a cingular at&t sms card, 2 year old card, in a 2g iphone....didn't activate. Later, I discovered I have 3.0 firmware.

So, I don't know. The old sms card from prior owner was in th iphone, so I did unlock it thru itunes. I have access to the features, just no cell phone/data service.

yeah, you can do that, but you need to cancel the service you have on the iphone. the none prepaid one. which has a early termination fee of about 170 dollars
