For me from the start is with Rose, I know full well of the "classic" series, Ive seen a few episodes my dads a big fan, so I know the background and can understand enough when they make older references. Some younger audiences have not been able to watch the classic series in general, I myself, at 14, knows quite a lot of the significance of something this old and famous but a 'new who' fan like me is just as much a fan as any classic fan, just because they havent been around to watch 700+ episodes, as long as you enjoy doctor who, then you are a fan, whether you grew up with the old series or the new. I reckon RTD has done a fantastic job at reviving such a classic and inviting newer audiences.
