I use a spanish free translation of RpgMaker XP, and the names of some commands (such as "show picture") may be different from your version, but i'll tray to explain:

Make a common event, parallel process. Condition Trigger-> if "Z" key pressed, move character (up, up-left or up-right depending on if you press the left or right keys too). I repeat that abou 3 times (character will jump 4 tiles up) and then I make the same, but downwards. I detect if the character reachs de soil by checking...

...if the charcater Y coordinate changes after 0.4 seconds. If it does, the downwards movement parallel event (working as gravity) continues. Else, that event stops, and I make the character to land.

Jumping, falling and landing have other parallel events related, in order to show the character animations.

I hope I exlained it well enough.

i tried it but it doesnt work really. i named the common event jump then i put it on parrel process then i made trigger switch if z key pressed and for the command i made a conditional branch for if z key pressed and put in a move route but it doesnt work?

Kind of a waste of effort making a game like this with RPG maker. You should get Multimedia Fusion or something, put your obvious talent to MUCH better use.

However I think rpgmaker is easier than other game-makers(2d game maker, mmf, flash). There's nothing I could make using other software I'm not able to do using rpg maker.

Ok, honestly, I bet this was REALY realy hard to make. But it is a game i would never, ever play. If you are good with sprrites, which i guess you are, make a great "normal" rpg instead.

Yes, 3 fucking years since I started it, but it was quite different then. Obviously, in those 3 years, there were about 4 gaphical changes, involving a 100% events, characters, maps and backgrounds remake. I do this because I've been learning how to do sprites, and as I got better, my games needed to be refreshed.
