I asked students what is the most powerful moment of this film? They say when Schindler is crying on his knees. When he realizes the importance of one life. If only the world could see the importance of.........one life.
yeroushalaim shel zahav = jerusalem of gold, this is a popular song talking about how the jews managed to reclaim jerusalem after the establishment of israel
If anyones interested this song was written by Naomi Shemer sometime before the 6 day war. After the war Jerusalem was liberated and the soldiers sang the song from the walls. The song itself is seen as somewhat prophetic because of this. If you like this song, you might also like "al kol ele" or "Lu Yehi" also written by Naomi Shemer.
Could somebody make tha charity to send me this song for e-mail? I´ll be very very gratefull jaldenir@r7.com thank you very much! toda raba! muito obrigado!!!
I've seen the toughest men and women cry at the end of this movie. It is undoubtedly one of the greatest movies ever created.
And anyone who tries to tarnish the memory of the millions of holocaust victims by denying their existence needs to sit down with a survivor and listen to his or her story. No imagination could possibly conjure up all of the horrors they faced.
This is so beautiful and any who may offend or make jokes about this movie or it's surroundings need to get a life. It's just so tragic and pathetic and it's getting quite old. I'm not jewish either but as roleplayer82991 said; it's still offensive.
Long live Steven Spielberg for making this movie and John Williams for creating it's breathtaking music. It's just beyond words.
Excuse me, but I'm a girl- so I obviously do not have any type of male anatomy. Let alone having it on my face. ^^ But if you want to be mean and act like a little kid by calling me names, then you do that. Just know it wont get you many places in life, okay?
Also, I'm not crying. Before you say things, you should really learn how to talk to someone properly. Otherwise it'll be like a river and run right off their backs.
I'll pray for you, Chitownrunthis. I'll pray you get understanding.
we saw this film on 4 of our english lessons. i think it is a very good film, and in the end of the lessons we were sitting on our places and there was so deep silence...
This is the best movie I ever seein ...We,people,have to unite,no mather of religion of nation you are....Peace,Love and respect for anzyne in the world!!!Greetings from Serbia!!!
I just watched this movie for the first time in years since high school and it still has the same effect as the first time I ever saw it, the same amount of tears same amount of pain, the small pleasure of seeing Amon Goeth being hung for his crimes clutching to his last remittance of dignity , real good prevailing in an indecent time. Such an incredible film.
I saw this Film in a cinema in Germany. I never saw that befor befor: All people kept sitting in the cinema on their places till the film was already finished. Most of them were crying! It was the best film I´d ever seen.
I hope, that such terrible things will happen never again! Never again! Shalom to whole mankind! Greetings from Cologne/Germany
I saw this movie in high school, & it's one of the best films that I've ever seen. I believe that this film should be required to be shown in every single high school world history class. This particular song is, I believe, played in the last 5 min of the film.
I saw this movie in my sophmore year of high school, all history classes had the option to show the movie and the students had the option to watch it (due to its extreme nature). every person in my class that watched it, we were all crying at the end.
this song made me feel a bit better during the movie, after the sad part with oscar. like relieved for the jewish people. until they came with the sad melody again..
@JovKnox I made a very dear friend of an wonderful Jewish man and his family. You see, his grandfather hand carves olive wood and sells them in my little mall. I always bought my Christmas gifts from him, and he was always so grateful when he saw me walk in. He told me one time, he had someone spit in his face and told him to go home. I asked him why would they disgrace their brother like that. He looked at me in shock, and then he started crying.
@JovKnox I was dumbfounded. Here was this beautiful older gentleman crying. I asked him what was wrong, and he said that I called him brother and it meant the world to him. I said he was my brother, and would always be my brother and we hugged each other. To this day he gets up and hugs me when I walk into his shop and says 'Welcome sister'. It makes me cry, even now, that people can be so hurtful and hateful. We are all brothers wether we be Christian, Jewish, or Muslim.
@sunainahussain *hugs back* Love goes a long way, as does understanding. People seem to forget that.
I shall pass the hug to him, and I know he will say thank you. :)
I also know some very lovely Egyptian ladies that share tasty treats. (tabbouleh, which they have me making now) People are very shocked when they see us all (Jewish, Christian, Muslim) sitting together, but as we say, it's their problem, not ours. Friendship crosses barriers, and it makes us better, wiser, human beings.
@LadyAryun PS- Also tell your "brother" this- if he has been through the Holocaust, he is not alone. Because after 9/11, Muslims, particularly Pakistani Muslims such as myself are frequently stereotyped as terrorists. When I was in Grade 9, a couple of boys called Pakistan "cheap". Even though I've lived in the UAE since birth, Pakistan is still my home country and it's very sad to see it looked that way 'cause I've been there and there are some very beautiful places. I'm sure he'll understand.
@sunainahussain You, are a very thoughtful person and I apologise for the mistreatment. How could people be so hateful? And yes his grandfather, who carves, was. People make me sad. They really do. I think Pakistan is beautiful. It's a very diverse country! I've always wanted to see Deosai Park and see a markhor. However the general mass of people fear what they don't know. We need to educate, not sterotype. So much hate in the world, not enough love.

I was 15 at the time and I thought it was very comforting.I didn't undertsand the lyrics quite yet because i wasn't very good with Hebrew, but it was a very beautiful song. Unfortunately sometimes war is a necessary evil.
I too wish that the part of humanity that is prone to cruelty, to selfishness and hatred could somehow be removed but they cannot.
For as long as we are human we will need to be prepared to fight and, if required, to die for the causes we believe to be right.

Ill try:
Mountain's air as clear as wine, and smell of pines,
carried by the wind of dusk with the sound of bells.
And in the sleep of a tree, and a stone which is dreaming,
the city which lies alone and within it's heart- a wall.
Jerusalem of gold, and of copper, gold and light,
for all of your songs- im a violin X2
Thats just a quarter of the original song.
