I used to play this song on repeat when I was deep into severe depression. Listening to it now brings back some all too real memories. It's absolutely beautiful and emotional.
After her 3 year old sister's tragic death, Amy wrote a song called Hello, it's track 9 on their debut album "Fallen". It was performed for her family. It's personal, so personal that she says she can't perform it live at concerts because she'll go into a serious breakdown.

I heard this song was written for Amy Lee's younger sister, Bonnie Lee. Amy's sister died when she was just 3 and Amy was 6 during that hard time. The illness she died from is still unknown.. Think about the situation and the lyrics and you'll really understand it on a deeper level.
This reminds me a lot of what I went through when my mom died when I was 5... I might have been too young to understand she died, but I wasn't too young to realize she wasn't gonna come home anymore . Every lyric is what i went through mentally growing up. And how I bottled it inside and tried to console myself. I sort of was my own parent, telling myself it was okay, to smile and it'll all be over. The lyrics might mean something else, but I'm 28 and I still miss my mom.
There are some songs that you like and are really happy, but alot of the times they have no true meaning to them whatsoever. Songs like these go straight to your heart and really make you think. THATS what makes Evanescence a great band, you can easily relate to the song. If you can't, you've been sitting in dream land for too long. You can't always be happy, it's just not possible. No matter how happy you are on the inside, theres always some anger, sadness, or anything behind that.
I think I'm going to use this for a music video for a school project. I really connect with this song, and I feel like I can make a good, meaningful video with it.

I heard this song was written for Amy Lee's younger sister, Bonnie Lee. Amy's sister died when she was just 3 and Amy was 6 during that hard time. The illness she died from is still unknown.. Think about the situation and the lyrics and you'll really understand it on a deeper level.

This reminds me a lot of what I went through when my mom died when I was 5... I might have been too young to understand she died, but I wasn't too young to realize she wasn't gonna come home anymore . Every lyric is what i went through mentally growing up. And how I bottled it inside and tried to console myself. I sort of was my own parent, telling myself it was okay, to smile and it'll all be over. The lyrics might mean something else, but I'm 28 and I still miss my mom.

There are some songs that you like and are really happy, but alot of the times they have no true meaning to them whatsoever. Songs like these go straight to your heart and really make you think. THATS what makes Evanescence a great band, you can easily relate to the song. If you can't, you've been sitting in dream land for too long. You can't always be happy, it's just not possible. No matter how happy you are on the inside, theres always some anger, sadness, or anything behind that.
