At age 8 my head was cut off when Dad’s chainsaw bucked while cutting firewood. I had to learn to cope without a head. Smoking pot has helped me immensely. No offense but I don't think you have much education on the cannabis plant. There are many uses outside medicinal, especially with hemp which contains almost no THC but is still controlled by law. I'm going to guess you haven't smoked much pot in your life because no one who has would ever refer to it as "getting their fix". Its not like that at all. People in our society tend to frown at states of mind that are not directly focused on the weekly capitalist grind.

But alcohol is not encumbered with the image that weed is. Alcohol is more presentable and accepted by society. An expensive cup of red French wine is considered a luxurious delicacy, while pot is associated with rebellious teenagers, hippies, nuts, or, well - deadbeats. And I don't see its image changing this if it were to be legalized.

@serpentinessarecute Many people find it useful from an artistic or spiritual level. I think a truly free country needs to be at the very least tolerant of such things. We have to be open in terms of what we view as progress and how we validate it. Not everybody shares the same point of view, and we can't have a government pointing the finger at people and saying "we don't want you to feel like that, no matter how good you think it feels, because we said so".

@serpentinessarecute I'd encourage you to do some reasearch on the history of the plant, how it became illegal. Listen to testimonies of patients, doctors and scientists. Watch a documentary called "Waiting to Inhale", you can probably find it here. I saw it at a film festival years back and got to talk to the director and a few doctors afterwards and it really changed my perception. You might be really surprised at what you find.

The best way to keep strong cannabis out of the hands of growing minds, is to make it completely legalized for all adults.

No offense but I don't think you have much education on the cannabis plant. There are many uses outside medicinal, especially with hemp which contains almost no THC but is still controlled by law. I'm going to guess you haven't smoked much pot in your life because no one who has would ever refer to it as "getting their fix". Its not like that at all. People in our society tend to frown at states of mind that are not directly focused on the weekly capitalist grind.

My opinion is that if it was a possibility, we'd already have a nation of drunks, because alcohol is not only a lot more addictive but a lot more preferable. A good amount of people don't even enjoy being high. Almost everyone I know likes a little alcohol, and many like it in large amounts. At the same time I feel like I'm defending alcohol, which in many ways can be the devil.

But alcohol is not encumbered with the image that weed is. Alcohol is more presentable and accepted by society. An expensive cup of red French wine is considered a luxurious delicacy, while pot is associated with rebellious teenagers, hippies, nuts, or, well - deadbeats. And I don't see its image changing this if it were to be legalized.

To take something so incredibly useful and control its production and use the way the government does is a sin in my book. By far the greatest danger to society the plant poses lies within its legal status, not its side effects. I can't say I blame you for not trusting the general public though. We have to be open in terms of what we view as progress and how we validate it. Not everybody shares the same point of view, and we can't have a government pointing the finger at people and saying "we don't want you to feel like that, no matter how good you think it feels, because we said so".

@serpentinessarecute I'd encourage you to do some reasearch on the history of the plant, how it became illegal. Listen to testimonies of patients, doctors and scientists. Watch a documentary called "Waiting to Inhale", you can probably find it here. I saw it at a film festival years back and got to talk to the director and a few doctors afterwards and it really changed my perception. You might be really surprised at what you find.

Dude I love weed nothing wrong with it in my opinion at all I smoke everyday. But not wonder Canada hates us. We are foreigners trying to push our way in and arrest someone for nothing. I think that his organization need to put form letters on his web site so that we can send letters to congress and anyone else that needs to be contacted to help get this man out...Our taxs should be going to the jails for murders and rapists NOT some one that believes in a cause..It makes me sick and so does our government!!!!!!! I wish that I had the time to be more involved with politics...
