@NadrianATRS Thhis was during a period of time when work was hard to come by. ONE of the ways he avoided people wondering too much was he would have a crew of guys do some work, and then, for whatever reason he could think of, he would fire them all. Then hire a new crew to finish whatever he asked them to finish. Also, i believe i remember reading he knew how to build things himself. But the hiring and firing of a lot of people often is one of the ways. And people did know it was weird inside.

@NadrianATRS he actually didn't explain anything. they way he kept the suspicion on the down low was by continually firing the workers (not paying them) and rehiring different ones. The workers would work only long enough so that they got one small task done with no context of what the use was for. CREEPY :)

There is actually a good book about Holmes, it basically puts it in his view (of course fiction, but does use many true facts about what he did) it's called "The Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson. I highly recommend it if you're interested!

He actually researches down to the weather reported on the various days so that he wouldn't be inaccurate on those either.
