  • I wasn't aware of atheist suicide rates being higher..but I know that sometimes it does get hard and it does feel empty and lonely....it's harder when you've let go of your god....but I don't any less or more alone without "god"..it just is. I've been there, that edge of empty....and it is scary because once you turn back will people see you differently? will you loose opportunities for relationships because "you were suicidal"

  • So yes i admit it I've been at that edge of that abyss very close and there are more people there to help you hold on than you know just look up. But we too need to look at those about us...I know a person who isn't suicidal but has become cyncal too me a step towards that dark place. They refuse to believe that love can be real... it is and maybe it isn't the right time for romance but you can still tell them you love them..even if you need to scream it in their face

  • chin quivered, dang.

I have to do manly stuff now

  • U have no idea how much this has helped me.

  • Even if Atheists do have a higher rate of suicide I doubt Atheism is directly to blame, Usually Atheists are more intelligent and it's statistically proven that people with higher IQ's are more prone to depression, also there are many religious people who really WANT to commit suicide as well but the only reason they don't is out of fear of punishment in the after life because suicide is typically a pretty serious "sin" in most religions. So fuck all that Atheists commit suicide bullshit.

  • I will honor your request...

I knew dusty through YouTube he had great videos he was smart and a great atheist, may he rest in peace

  • I feel terrible about people committing suicide.

Although unlike most people I feel if you want to commit suicide you should get to do it. BUT suicide shouldn't be an option that people choose first, their is better way to get through it.

    SO DON'T COMMIT SUICIDE!!!!!!!

  • My grandfather died today, after a long time of progressing dementia at the end he was in a state you could barely describe as alive, worse then a quick death by stroke or bullet...

I loved the old man and I would love to believe that he was in heaven or somekind of post mortem conciousness being aware of that. Sadly I´m perfectly aware that the probability of that being possible is close to 0, sometimes it hurts to be concious!

  • there is destiny

  • Thank you for sharing your grief.

I am sure this will change a few peoples attitude about their lives and the ones they love.

I'm going to phone my daughter and let her know I love her.

  • you go to hell if u kill yourself regardless of your faith

  • @cba321427 Haha, good one, you made me laugh.. lets thank god

  • @NietNiels wait what? wth are u talking about HOW COME I DONT UNDERSTAND PEOPLE some dude said that i cant even crow WTF screw that crowin crap! Wwhy would i care he was all braggy with it too

  • Guys tumbs this up so Dusty can see...

Hey Dusty, just thought I'd leave some nice words for you. I think you're really cute, and would like to fuck you in the ass with a strap-on until you foamed from the mouth... Also, you've got lots of logic.

  • okay i am going to say it now - i love this blog- i love what you do dusty- you bring joy and reason to life and i am happy to know you..........

  • JUST emerged from a suicidal jag (Bipolar I) due to stress at work...It took a dear friend to leave a message on my phone for me to snap out of it.....It is SO SO hard to explain the darkness that overtakes me in those moments. Nonetheless, I'm here and glad to see that your compassion is authentic, meaningful. We simply have to take care of each other a little bit better.

  • awe poor dusty..... you failed her...

  • wow, I dont know what to say, I cant imagine how that feels. so true, dont wait for that shit, tell people how you feel, NOW fuckers.

  • Dusty, powerful video, terrible what has happened, but thanks for reminding people how critical life is and sharing it with others.

  • Beauty of love and honest emotion....RIP girl...Thx Dusty....Even theists need to take some of the messages in this vid to heart...People matter and life is fucking important...

  • Thank you Dusty for sharing this.

  • Most everyone suffers in one way or another, and this video shows another example of how we suffer.

This lets me know that people really ought to get into meditation.

  • Ppl in the comments are somehow convinced he's a theist , lol

  • :(

  • Thanks man, I needed this.

  • <333

  • wow

  • I'm not an atheist! I'm in the church of Chuck Norris!

  • @XXXTheHOPEprojectXXX Chuck Norris is fucking stupid... stop recycling memes

  • The girl killing herself really shouldn't be that big a deal, all she did was speed up her inevitable death and take it into her own hands.

  • @diareahmaster Blahblahblah.

  • Hey u r far from being a robot. u feet sad as –as you said didn’t realize how low this girl was. U speak about this gals fb page and why didn’t all the people who posted, say all that nice stuff when she was alive. It’s as they didn’t know she was in extremis. No one knew. People can feel and get really down and yet they come up again and don’t die. Sadly she was one who did act out her feelings. She was consumed by them.It happens all 2 often. I have visited this place. Ur message is great :)

  • shared this vid to facebook, i hope myfriends share it too

  • You are a hero among men good sir.

  • @onefodderunit still waiting on that factual, physical or scientific evidence outside of the bible of gods existence. let me know if you have non so we can end with Q/A if santa clause is real

  • I LOVE YOU DUSTY

  • Dusty, please go on to Fox News and spread your atheism and get more Subscriber as well.

  • OMFG. This guy heard someone was suicidal in hes group. They reached out and he saw it. Then he got distracted by some game or something??? wtf!! You sick fucker! I would of been there for anyone in a second, if i knew them or not, and you got distracted knowing they as suicidal. Amazing, I agree with all the last bit of your message, now is important not when someone is dead! But you yourself let this person down if they were your friend also.

  • @cruiseylee you should rlly shut the fuck up like rlly

  • @metalheadbabe101 really, tell that to the person thats dead. Your telling me if someone reached out to u and was suicidal you would load up some game. wow. fucked up people.

  • Suicide: a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

  • Thank you for this video Dusty. I've been telling people basically the same thing for years. Appreciate those around you while you and they are still here, and most importantly let them know! Don't be afraid to speak your feelings.

As for you Dusty, I appreciate your work here on Youtube and I know I'm not the only one. You make a difference in many lives and I love your down to earth, straight up, no bullshit messages. Keep the fire burning brother!

  • Damm Dusty, Thanks Man! You are just too fucking cool!

  • Atheism is faith that life was never meant to be in the first place. What's the big deal if one of you checks out early? Congratulations to her for walking the Atheist talk.

When you get emotional, it's just chemicals reacting in your head and you look silly.

Get control of your chemicals. Life is nothing but inconsequential byproduct according to the Atheist faith. You'll be dead soon enough yourself, and none of this will have mattered, right?

  • @onefodderunit you are seriously a fucked up piece of shit.

  • @DoneWithDogma

Why don't you either start refuting what I wrote, or admitting to yourself that when the truth hurts, you've been living a lie.

  • @onefodderunit as if you even wrote a coherent though to refute, lol

  • @DoneWithDogma wrote: "lol"

    See, what's the big deal?

  • @onefodderunit ... seek mental help

  • "Atheism is faith" please explain to me how Atheism is faith is fath. im puzzled. also you said "When you get emotional, it's just chemicals reacting in your head" actually tear comes out of your tear ducts, or lacrimal ducts, these ducts are tiny tubes that run between your eyes and your nose, these are how the tears exit. you don't sound like you know what you're talking about, and let me guess, you believe in god too don't you. how surprising.

  • @danieldvs100

According to the faith of Atheism; Life is an unintended byproduct of Chance.

The faith is that matter somehow self materialized, and Chance formed it into a universe, then Chance animated matter with life.

There's no science backing the Atheist faith in Chance creating order, let alone intelligence. In fact, the Atheist faith is anti-scientific. Chance is chaos and chaos is the opposite of order.

Intelligence creates intelligence. Order is intelligence.

  • @danieldvs100

In the Atheist faith, you have no soul. Feelings and emotions are regarded as chemical reactions in your head. When Atheists get emotional, it's ridiculous. They're simply not able to control their chemicals. Atheists' mothers never 'loved' them. That 'love' was simply chemical reactions from animal instinct. When an Atheist's mother continues to 'love' them after they're old enough to fend for themselves, the 'love' then becomes irrational, according to Atheism.

  • @onefodderunit

    Whatever...

  • before we start this debate, you said "Atheist faith" there is no "faith", we put our "faith in statistics and reasoning" not thing in ancient book, out dated and made up. "Atheists' mothers never 'loved' them." so if someone becomes an atheist, their mom automatically doesn't love them? on what basis? were are yu getting this from. before you respond, show me any proof of god.

  • @danieldvs100

According to the faith of Atheism, 'love' is just a chemical reaction in your head as is every other emotion.

According to the faith of Atheism, Chance created the universe and life. This is irrational and counter scientific. Chance does not order. Chance is chaos and it is the opposite of order. Order is intelligence. Atheism is Orthodox rejection of intelligence.

  • Comment removed

  • @onefodderunit Wrong. Atheism is simply the absence of belief in deities. There is no faith involved. It's a common tactic for theists to try to bring us down to their level, which implies that somewhere inside you know that faith is absurd.

Not having answers to questions like 'what is love' and 'why/how are we here' is not a license to just start making shit up like theists do. 'I don't know' is an acceptable answer. Thinking you already know it all stifles new learning.

  • @ozzyslush

Love comes from the soul through the heart.

In Atheism, love is an irrational chemical reaction in the head from instinct.

We are here for the spiritual evolution of our soul through self examination.

Atheism is absolute faith that the universe and life are unintended byproducts of chance. No science supports this faith. It is anti-scientific. Chance is not creative, it is chaotic.

  • @onefodderunit I see that reading comprehension is not your strong suit. There is no point in talking to someone like you. Have fun with your delusions and make-believe.

  • @onefodderunit atheism is NOT an "absolute faith" in anything. it is a committment to inquiry, flexibility, and open-mindedness. I DON'T HAVE FAITH in anything!! If i believe something to be probable based on what i know, and someone shows me evidence to the contrary, I CHANGE my mind!! That makes me different from, (and superior to) people of faith, who believe what they believe because a book or a relative told them so.

  • give me any factual, physical and or scientific evidence of gods existence besides the bible. science can be proven with math, science can be proven with biology, astronomy. you can prove the book....with the book. the book has already been proven irrelevant and contradictory. question that.

  • @danieldvs100

Atheism contributed to this young woman's self destruction. It's faith that life was never meant to be, and Atheists can't even admit it's faith. There is plenty of evidence that life is a creation of conscious intent. There is no evidence that Chance can create life.

  • @onefodderunit How about STFU and stop Lying for Jizzus, you sick fuck.

Miserable fundie scum like you are more likely the cause of this woman's demise, than realizing religion is a mental illness..

  • @onefodderunit you're just blithering. words come out of you like diarrhea. atheism is NOT FAITH in anything. it is a comittment to INQUIRY. I daresay we respect and honor life at LEAST as much as religious people, and probably more--ever hear of an atheist crusade? an atheist inquisition? an atheist witch trial?

stop spewing nonsense. any sentence that begins..."atheism is faith...." is pablum, spewn out of the unthinking mind of the faithful!!

  • @DOCSAM35

Communist Atheists were at least ten times more deadly to civilians in the 20th century than any nationalist or religious movements.

you wrote: "[Atheism] is a comittment to INQUIRY"

Atheism is faith that matter self materialized, and ordered itself into the infinite universe then animated itself with life.

Atheism is faith that all is unintended byproduct of chance. In what do you believe Atheism is inquiring? Ways to validate its faiths.

    Be honest with yourself, Atheist.

  • When you are in so much pain that you cannot bare it any longer. or even before that happens. If atheism in right, and there is no afterlife. then Suicide is a way to escape from suffering. it is the ultimate way to be happy all the time. since you know you can always escape the suffering. Why are we always made to live for others that care for us? sometimes it is our suffering that matters mroe than others people's feelings.

  • @amigojapan death is not happiness, it means the person just do not exist. If someone is alive no what how much they are suffering they could posibly become happy someday but once someone is dead they just cannot be happy b'cos they just dont exist. suicide is ABSOLUTELY never ok.

  • @amigojapan the whole "I'll miss you, & so-and-so will miss you, don't do it" thing that happens when you say you're suicidal? is that what you're talking about? The emotional blackmail that you're letting others down by axeing yourself? I'm not quite sure of your point dude is all ...

If that was your point, agreeing with you ... sometimes the 'I'll miss you" stuff while sweet, just makes you feel that much more guilty for having any feelings ... *shrug* what would I know ...

  • @amigojapan Since that is not the way humans are created. We have evolved to solve problems and to continue the human race. Suicide is a anomaly among any population, even amongst the cultures that are more tolerant of it. Life is all there is and nobody would want to lose it. If there is an eternal afterlife, then what are you doing wasting your time on this earth suffering then?

  • @1234yersiman I am not a believer in an eternal afterlife

  • @amigojapan Why does this have so many thumbs up lol. This is a terrible way to think?

  • @the1janitor aparenly many people agree with me

  • @amigojapan fuck that. >if atheism is right... what the fuck are you talking about? first off, "atheism" doesn't say dick shit about the afterlife. there are no assumptions.

secondly, there are a lot better ways to quell suffering than suicide. get help. talk to someone. dusty makes that sound really easy, but it really isn't. it's a difficult thing to admit you need help in the first place (usually pride gets in the way), and even more difficult to actually seek it.

  • @FightBack96 I have gone to psychiatrists and psychologists , I have made an agreement that I will use suicide only as a last resort. I have gotten help.

  • @amigojapan suicide should not be a last resort. it should not even be an option, unless you are terminally ill. it's good that you have gotten help. perhaps you need to continue to seek help. having trouble coping with depression etc. is normal and can take a long time in therapy to conquer. some people never get over it. i know it can feel like the worst torture but you need to think positively about the future and block all that other shit out. you need to fix yourself and move on

  • @amigojapan bottom line is, if you kill yourself, that's it, game over. no chance to experience anything ever again. end of consciousness. i don't know about you, but i choose pain over nothing at all.

Life is about fixing problems, and enjoying yourself along the way. Your computer broke? Find a way to fix it, or buy a new one. Your girlfriend dumped you? Find a new one. You're depressed? Find a way to become happy. It's a fucking struggle. Can you handle that?

  • @FightBack96 "I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all" -Three Days Grace

  • @xXDISASTERPIECE934Xx That's pretty stupid.

  • @FightBack96 I thought I made myself clear, I chose death over pain. especially if it takes too much effort to cure the problem. why cant you accept that not everyone feels like you about life?

  • @amigojapan because i refuse to believe that rational people can think this way. someone who does not consider death to be the worst possible outcome to any situation is not thinking rationally.

  • @amigojapan your not going to be happy. Your going to be nothing. The meaning of life is to live.

  • @HellomynameisN I decide what the meaning of my life is. and if I decide it is time to end it. I will make that decission

  • @amigojapan There is no meaning to life. You need to just enjoy it while you have it. Help the world through science, or start a band. Become an artist. Anything that makes you happy.

  • The most touching video I ever seen.

  • everyone dies eventually its life. everyone who reads this message will die eventually. Don't do something your gonna regret

  • i suggest people look at the audio clip of Sam Harris's chapter from his book-The Illusion of Free Will. I found it immensely uplifting, actually

  • @sowcratees Nothing can cure depression? That kind of thinking is the REASON you're depressed. I know because I lived with depression for 14 years. It is literally just a series of negative beliefs that causes you to be depressed, and if you work on changing those beliefs from negative to positive, your life literally just gets better. I NEVER ONCE GOT THERAPY OR MEDS, and I haven't had a depressive thought for about 1 year. I know it's not what you WANT to hear, but it's what you NEED to hear.

  • Keep Your Head UP!!! It is hard to know if you do enough or not! But one never knows till its over!!! I too have lost Familey and Friends like that! To say "I Love You and am Thinking of you" Is sometimes the BEST we can do!!! Midwest White Folks is riding with you and ALL THOSE WE LOST!!! Love! Midwest White Folks said this

  • I'm sure everyone here has at one point herd someone say that real men don't cry. Who ever said that is/was a fucking idiot. Crying is a good thing because it helps us deal with our pain. It shows that we are human-beings and there is nothing wrong with that.

  • Life is fucking amazing. Being forced to endure the shitty culture that has developed on this planet isn't so amazing anymore. And you can't change human fucking culture. You can only disconnect yourself from it and suffer loneliness. Your choice is between suffering culture, suffering loneliness, or lowering your standards so much that human culture doesn't bother you anymore. It DOESN'T get better. Humans have been doing the same inane shit for 200k years, man. Get some perspective.

  • Dusty, just watched now. A great video! I'm sorry that it was necessary to make, under the circumstances.

As someone who is going through a tough time now, I appreciate the reminders that there are people who are happy that I'm in the world and that I'm going to get through it.

    Thanks, man. You rock.

    Big fan,

    Jen Carmen.

  • @CVLFMG

"there are no Islamic states right now"

    no true Scottsman fallacy

  • @CVLFMG

"you hold the WHOLE of Islam responsible"

It is wrong to blame all Muslims for the actions of a few, but the religion of Islam can be held responsible if the people who took such actions would not have done so if they weren't Muslims.

  • @CVLFMG

What's actually written in religious texts matters much less than how people of that religion actually behave.

According to the bible, Jesus cared greatly about helping the poor, but fundamentalist Christians are some of the people most against helping the poor. On the other hand they're much less likely to kill the ppl the bible says to kill while there are Muslims in Islamic countries who actually WILL kill ppl for apostasy.

  • @Supaduck0

We still accomodate everybody that has any sort of physical illness.

Mental illnesses have been proven to have medical causes yet ppl who get them are still blamed for their illnesses.

I hope you lose your fucking legs and nobody gives you a wheelchair because society is still dangerous and predatory, or you go blind and ppl just lets you wonder in front of a truck.

It's because of motherfuckers with attitudes like you that mental health patients get abuse instead of help.

  • yeah buddy.

  • I only heard about your channel a couple minutes ago, and I'm certainly glad I did. What you say is so true in respect to saying you love people while you still have a chance. You really have to make the most of the time you have hear on Earth. One can hope for some sort of after life to be able to meet up with friends and family once you're all dead, but if that isn't the case, that's it. Thanks Dusty, I'm going to spread the love more often! :)

  • If someone commits suicide, it's their choice. I won't criticize them but I wont feel sorry for them. Life is hard for everyone and the emotionally stable survive. It's sad, but you can't adjust society to accommodate everyones weaknesses. We won't have the privilege until the world and humanity evolves a bit - culture is still very predatory and dangerous. It's sad but it's reality. Too much optimism or empathy leads to people ignoring when shit starts to get fucked up.

  • Please don't say you know how it feels after you said earlier "i don't know what was going on" It's hard to deal with grief. If this helps with your grief, great. Everyone has their own crosses to bear, some are bigger and heavier than mine, than yours. Understand you can't always understand. But yea, spend time with people more, I can agree there.

  • Please respond to my post

  • @brodjayson, You're clueless. I feel sorry for you and Christians like you.

    Dusty, well done.

  • No matter how much you deny this, You were crying your balls out because you're scared of death and the penalty that follows after your sins and a little sympathy for that women for attention here on youtube, plain and simple. As a Christian, our goal is to overcome the fear of death itself and to celebrate it in the kingdom of God which Atheism does not have. You have chosen to be an Atheist because you don't want to face the truth and deny what you once knew, what comes after your sins/death.

  • @brodjayson On the off chance that there is a creator, it's definitely not your Christian God. Your entire belief system is based on Zoroastrianism and other assorted early religions. It's not the Islamic God nor the Egyptian or Hindu or Greek pantheons and it's not the Judaic God either, although the fact that you discount them as viable options, simply by virtue of geography, is both stupid and arrogant. You are a stupid, arrogant and ignorant person. It's disgusting that so many of you exist.

  • Comment removed

  • @brodjayson

you are a horrible inhuman bieing

  • :? Suicide is stupid, but thought about by too many. It's a permanant solution to a temporary problem. Don't kill yourself please...

  • she was hot

  • @topgrrl1 You have the depth of sympathy as a small turtle.

  • @ElementalXero stfu pseudo intellectual

  • Hey Dusty, Sergio here. Look, I've met Genevieve in real life, was a close friend, attended her funeral. Your video is moving. However, the family has asked that " Also please try not speculate on the cause of Charity/Gen's passing" (Brian). Look, I can't tell you what happen, but out of respect to the family I can tell you it was Not Suicide. Rest assure, she valued life too much to take hers. Thank you.

  • I've lost an uncle to suicide, and I've thought about it at different points in my life (depression sufferer). I am very sorry for your loss, Dusty. Sometimes people don't seek help because they don't want to be perceived as just some whiny emo person by those around them when they have real problems that seriously need fixing.

If anyone else reads this, and help is available, please seek it. There ARE people that care and are willing to aid you in your time of hardship. Big love.

  • Dusty....I am sorry for the loss. I get this video. You point is well said. On the comments on the FB wall of the girl...people need to grieve in their own way. Yeah it's too fucking late. But each person needs to work through the loss in their own way. Like you are here.

Cry all you need. Everyone needs to. There is no shame in admitting the truth of your emotion.

  • Sometimes it's too late to help someone. But sometimes people wait until it's too late to even ask for help. And most people who want help don't ask for it because they don't know how. The survivors shouldn't blame themselves or each other for that.

But you're right; people have good things to say about each other, and they shouldn't wait to say them until one of them is dead. If it's worth saying, it's worth being heard. If it's worth being heard, it's worth being heard by the right person.

  • Its not your fault buddy....

  • depression is a bitch sometimes for some people. sometimes people may even give in to depression. I've lost so many loved ones to suicide so I can relate. yeah we may live a beautiful life in a fucked up world, but it does get easier. it's our job to stay strong. there are many ways to handle your depression. just saying.

  • @Fuctmentality

You're ignorant, and I mean that literally when it comes to this subject.

When you have clinical depression, you become badly depressed at random times even when you're not having personal problems.

Some times you just have to wait it out before you can function at all, and sometimes it's too persistent to deal with.

  • @Primalxbeast You notice how you failed to point out how I was ignorant or add any new information on the subject?

  • I couldn't kill myself because inevitably the Christians in my family would blame it on my atheism... as opposed to actual reasons I may have for doing so. Fuckers.

  • omg, true as hell.

  • @danieldvs100 ironic much?

  • @phillozoph50

When somebody has just lost a friend is not the best time to confront them about being a theist, especially if they haven't said anything hateful about atheism.

Would you tell a theist on their deathbed that they are stupid for believing in God and that there is no heaven?

Don't go out of your way to make us atheists look like asses.

  • There is so much information about depression out there. I hate to be a dick here, but the fact is if your depressed and especially for no particular reason then it PROBABLY IS an Illness. That can be fixed. Emotional support does help but when it comes down it, its on that person to do something about it. In the end there is really no excuse. This is coming from someone who has dealt with a friends suicide

  • While you cannot cure depression with a kind word or lending a shoulder to cry on, you can let them know that they are loved, and that they will never have to be alone. Sometimes that will not be enough, but trust me, you do not want to spend the rest of your life wondering if it might have been.

  • I really envy people who've never had to deal with severe depression. I'm bipolar and I've experienced depressive episodes (from a chemical imbalance) that were so bad..every minute was agony. And I know people like Dusty mean well when they say 'life is too amazing' but personally those kinds of statements have actually made me feel worse when experiencing a depressive episode because I just 'can't' get any enjoyment or pleasure out of anything or see beauty in anything when I'm like that.

  • Thanks Dusty. We, as a people, need to hear that sh*t.

  • EGO! they do it as guilt-free pass.

  • damn, that would hit me kinda hard aswell. cheer up man, even if you had called her that day, i doubt you could ever give her the kind of help she really needed and could only have postponed it.

  • Dusty, people who are able to take their own life are in so much pain that they can't help it. It is not silly and it is hard. Depression is an illness and words cannot cure it.

  • @sowcratees still there is no harm trying to make the depressed realize how much the ppl around them appreciate them for who they are. It might not prevent the suicide but at least we tried. Eventually, we all die one way or another. What matters is we show how we love one another before we all turn to dust.

  • @sowcratees Depression is a mode of behavior meant to make the individual analize their place in society & come to terms with it or die. It is not an illness, & for some words can cure it.

  • @Fuctmentality so you're saying that someone who has a chemical imbalnce in their brain, for instance a lack of serotonin being produced, just needs to suck it up cuz if they just decide to be happy the chemical imbalance will just solve itself?

Because that is not at all how the brain works.

  • @cdog37 Okay two little problems.

    1. I never said it would solve it's self. I guess you could choose to look at it that way, death solves every problem, but that's too morbid for me.

    2. Depression (for the most part) is not caused by a chemical imbalance unless you predefine not being depressed as the proper state. One can do this, but litterally every mental state can be said to be caused by an imablance if & only if you define a correct balance which said state doesn't match.

  • @sowcratees ive been near that point as well. only logic and reason kept me going, because i knew my situation was not everlasting.

  • @sowcratees Nothing can cure depression, you can only make it easier to live with.

Weed is one of my ways to culp with my depression

  • @sowcratees, thank you for having an enlightened view on the subject. I recommend the book Unhinged by a dr....shit....(lol:P)

Anyway, it's about how psychiatry and psychology have evolved and how little we know, and how many psychiatrists have just become psychopharmacologists.

  • @sowcratees Clinical depression isn't the only reason why people feel they have no other recourse than suicide and in many of the other situations the right words can make a huge difference. Besides even in the case of clinical depression, supportive words can help people have the strength to find professional help and fight through it.

  • I had a good friend and I always told him I loved him like a brother and how awesome and funny he was... he died in a car wreck several years ago... it does help knowing that you let that person know how much you really loved him or her... so at least the person knew how much you cared, so you know they felt loved and you don't have to live a life of regret knowing you never told that person how you felt. It just makes everyone live happier lives when we're more open about how we feel.

  • I love you, Dusty.

  • I would like to thank you for making this video. I don't know you, and I'm not an atheist, but Gen was a really close friend of mine. The things you said about telling people NOW are entirely true. I just wish I had let her know how important she was to me before it became too late, rather than being angry the last time we spoke about a fight we had months ago. Please let the people you love know now, before it becomes too late.

  • @americansophist You're not an atheist?Well, how do you feel about the fact your friend is most probably in hell now?For eternity?I'm not saying she is,but your religion probably doesn't send people to heaven after committing suicide,is it?

  • @phillozoph50 I do not know where Evie is now. I just know that had I let her know what she meant to me when she needed someone, and not instead been closed off to her over a stupid fight we had years ago, she'd still be here today. I meant no disrespect by the "I'm not an atheist comment;" I merely meant that there are certain things Dusty said that I cannot agree with. The central message, however, is very important, and something that everyone, atheist or not, needs to hear.

  • @americansophist Bla bla bla...Answer my questions.Do you believe in heaven and hell?Do you think people who committed suicide goes to hell?

  • yea, that sucks...and when someone dies, be it from suicide or something else, the whole "shoulda, coulda, woulda" tortures you for days. The worst is when someone dies suddenly, because then these feelings of "unfinished business" linger, sometimes years, depending how close you were to someone.

  • @CultOfDusty hey dusty can you please share with us on what you think of the illuminati?

  • "She can't fucking read this you idiots!" This made me lmao. But, you're right. It's funny, because I never knew about her being depressed and I've known her for years...

  • Humans: imaginative, creative, compassionate and sometimes we suck. I dare a theist to callus "hard-hearted" after seeing this.

  • love you Dusty!

  • the best cult of dusty video so far. the others interact with my living heart but this video has brought my human emotions to life after a long time. thx dusty

  • I saw this video a few days ago and I think about your words a lot during the day..I never think for a minute how lucky I am for being born , how amazing it is ..but now I do.... thanks to you.

I think your words are powerful and you are an amazing person and it really hurts to see you cry . Now I tell people I love how important they are for me and how great they are. Before it is too late... Thank you for sharing .Love from Israel

  • You are beautiful my brother.

  • thank you for this. i had a similar experience, and your video was a healing to me.

  • We all go through depression, I've had thoughts I'd describe as being suicidal. Talking about it certainly helps. It doesn't matter what you believe or don't believe, we all go through this in our life.

  • I wonder what Atheist, will do once atheism, takes over.

  • @KevZen2000 "Takes over"?

  • @KevZen2000. By "take over," I meant that the majority of population will become atheist, not some political action.

  • @KevZen2000 What is there to wonder about? What would we do aside from continuing to go to our jobs and enjoy our friends and family and play video games and sleep in on Sundays and... doing whatever it is we do with our lives now. Not trying to be douchey here, but why would anything change for the majority of us?

  • @iHateRPaul Does that even need saying?

  • oh man, not Genei, damn it!

  • Cudos to you, Dusty, for being forthright. A reminder: Your vocation is to point out and describe rational options - choices. Any Decisions are the responsibility of your viewers.

Muslims threaten a mortal death. But, so do those Christians who are willing to kill those (possibly) Christians with whom they disagree, like doctors who provide abortions. Christians do threaten a soul-death which may be just as terrifying. While your humor is compelling, we know this is still serious serious shit.
