I'm 18, recently started smoking. I'm not a HEAVY smoker however I noticed myself smoking more and more. I realized I'm too young and its never too late to make the right decision. Right now I have a pack of belmonts in front of me. 2 on the right side of the pack and 13 on the other, took the two out for my last couple of cigarettes and grabbed the ones on the left and crushed them in my hands. Quit while you can!
For all of yall quitting, like myself, remember the thing all people who failed to quit smoking have ONE thing in common... They smoked one more cigarette.
23 years 1pack a day, just quit cold turkey 3 days ago, NIGHTMARE. had candy, gum, but smoked 3 cigs. should I totally give up and get patches or just keep trying to quit cold turkey? I have to quit it is killing me. and I have a child who needs me around, I wish I never would have started, but as I was 13, and made a very stupid decision.
@Mrsteddyz the patches or gum still have nicotine in them so you are just prolonging the process of quiting if you use them. cold turkey is a little scary but it is still the best way to go. DO NOT QUIT ON IMPULSE!! because if you do you are more likely to relapse. set a date to quit and stick to it. the first 2 or 3 days are the hardest but it just gets easier from there. i havent smoked for 6 weeks now and it is so awesome. im breathing better and i no longer "need" a cigarette anymore.
i have been smoking average 10-15 cigs a day from 11-19. 2-3 days after quitting i noticed 1 big ass energy rush and started working out every day and have been for 2 weeks straight, i was only really pissed off for 12 hours then iwent to sleep and pretty much craving gone the next day. once u quit its all uphill glad ur still away from cigs
@sw33tpoison8 thank you that helped. its been two days since i quit. im 22 smoke 10-15 a day like you for 4 years. i hope i get that big energy rush. fuck this is hard
bull, nicotine is a highly addictive drug that makes you feel warm and fuzzy because it increases dopamine and some other chemicals in the brain. I am quiting after smoking around a pack a day for 11 months. This is actually my first full day without a cig and i can tell you i'm getting cravings but in the end, you'll feel better once you break the habit. This is from personal experience and i've quit once before and i'm going to do it again.
@HalftrackProduction No. u r an addict just like every other smoker..only u long ur cravings out more than most addicts...but u are an addict all the same. nicotine is an highly addictive drug and it has u just as it has others...u r fooling nobody but your self!
Hey folks this comment is for everybody. I apologize for not being on here regular to reply to your questions and comments. I am attempting to do better. To everyone that has quit Congratulations.
Allen's book worked for me, too. What a gift, to be free of the addiction, the taxes, the slavery. That's what I wanted, more than just to *quit*, because I'd quit before, and suffered the whole time, but to be *free*, wow, how wonderful to imagine, and that's how Allen's book works, it sets your mind up to be free, from now on.
It's been just over a month. I've saved around $400, I smell good, I feel great, and I thank Allen Carr every day. Ten bucks on Amazon and you're done.
i read somewhere that tobacco and alcohol companies fund the drug war, and therefore wont make their product illegal, so it's not considered a 'drug' or 'narcotic' in the mainstream opinion. I don't know if its exactly true, but it would make sense.
also, alcohol and tobacco companies are huge. they make billions of dollars. if marijuana, for example, was legal, it would be hard for a company to capitalize on it because anyone could grow it.
I wanna quit smoking..I have Asthma and need to quit..but the urge to smoke is simply overwhelming..I smoke a pack, a pack and a half a day..I cant imagine 5 packs a day...holy shit..even 3 packs a day...wouldnt just flat out make u sick?
Well done Jason... your story is very similar to my own.. Allen Carr's book actually does work! It is sooo easy to stop smoking and to enjoy it also. Good work my friend!
good job on stop smoking i have a lot of friends from my high school in warren county to smoke and dip and do drugs maybe they need to stop this way to
I hope he never smokes again, but remember, if there is a relapse it's not the end. If he wants to quit he can quit again. Quiting is a lot easier than staying quit. But if he really wants to quit he will in the end. Good Luck
Best of luck to you. I too have read his book along with Neil Casey's The Nicotine Trick. I am also attending Nicotine Anonymous online meetings. I've been nic-free (Cold Turkey after 20 years) since Jan 1 2007.

why dont we consider cigarette smokers and alcoholics drug addicts?

Because then they would have to ask why it's still legal. And of course no addict want thier drug illegal.
