Hey Paul, this is NOT a Wings song!! This was from Ram, which was credited to "Paul and Linda McCartney". Wings wasn't formed until the next album, called "Wild Life".
Is it just me, or or the background singers horrible? I mean, for goodness sake's, this is Paul McCartney.... the best singer/songwriter ever! Paul, honeydoll, I could have done better! :)
John himself said about the two songs (Too Many People and How Do You Sleep), Paul and I fine with it, we're fine with each other, so it doesn't much matter what anyone else thinks... Paul SHOULD play this song, and he SHOULD play Helter Skeleter, even though some crazies think the song belongs to Charles Manson now..

Hey Macka...if you really love John Lennon dont play this song anymore...Your lyrics in this song really upset me...John is already dead and your still unconciously attacking him....In Loving Memory of John Lennon (1940-1980)
@scared08ph That's the stupidest comment ever. This song is pretty tame, and it's a great fucking song, so why shouldn't he play it? I'm sure John wouldn't have minded in the least. They both acknowledged that their little public spats were juvenile, but they produced some great music during that time. I hope Paul plays this song more often in concert. Just because John died doesn't make him some untouchable deity. Paul shouldn't have to cater to people who think he is.
From what Paul says in his inter views the only line "you took your lucky break and broke it in two " was the only line directed at John. Not much of a stab is it?
Simply great! I said once that Macca could be playing cards as many people over 60 do, but he's still rocking around the world, everybody should be proud of a man like this in our planet.
Beatle attacks on one another began before they even broke up. Paul wrote "You Never Give Me Your Money" about the others (and their business disagreements involving Apple). Also, he wrote "Come and Get It" about similar business hassles. Although the Beatles did a recording of it (which was not released at the time), it was Badfinger that made the song well known.
Actually there were outside musicians on that album. Denny Seiwell was recruited for drums, David Spinozza and Hugh McCracken on guitar, and Marvin Stamm was featured on flugel horn on Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey.
I hope she was, and had to listen to this. She was, and is an untalented free-loader, and a crazy bitch who needs to stop riding the coat-tails of john's accomplishments.
Oh my fucking god! What the fuck with this fucking man!? He fucking rocks ass! I've never seen someone like this live! He's 66 years old and he has a lot more energy than I do! I've tried playing with my band live more than 2 hours and I can't do it-we get tired! This is what I call a rocker...How can he resist the loud sound?? Even better this proves he doesn't use fake audio in order to sound better.
@Alien8990 Unfortunately on his most recent live DVD, Good Evening New York City, for some reason or other it's coated in disgusting Auto-Tune. Ruins the performance unfortunately.
This song alludes to John Lennon's "lucky break" - meaning The Beatles, and how he subsequently "broke it in two."The lyrics, "Too many people preaching practices" is a direct reference to John Lennon and Yoko Ono. John thought other lines in the song were about him as well
I had read in a bio about Paul where he was quoted that the line about "your lucky break" and "preaching practices" was specifically about George Harrison. Paul got George into the Beatles, thus the lucky break, and George was known to rant on for hours about Indian religion and how you should live your life free from materialism and ego. John did write "How Do You Sleep" about Paul, and also had George playing the guitar on that track. It got a bit nasty for a while there, that's for sure.
George was basically condoning John's caustic attack by playing on "How Do You Sleep." He also wrote "Wah Wah" from All Things Must Pass about Paul after they had had an argument.
From my personal fav album of all time! I think he may have been referring to the fact that when he played it live at the time it was performed by Wings!! It's all Good!
@BlandBoy sure it was when he was in wings, and paul was the main songwriter anyway, had a bit of a wings sound of it! they probably played it live a lot :)
@BlandBoy Wow i cant believe so many people thumbed up this comment?!? im what you would call a noob (gay saying but common) and even i know whats he's talking about. LOOK IT UP, the people of wings recorded ram with him but they were basically if not fully uncredited BUT im guessing they did such a good job that he decided to start a band with them (that last part was a guess but saying wings played on ram is not)
This song takes me right back to 1971 when it came out. I heard him play this at the Staples Center in 2005. Very strange chord progression...one a lesser songwriter could not have gotten away with. McCartney is blessed with increadible talent, but remember who gives that talent.

I like "Tug of war" very much, like most other people, and I'm sure you wouldn't call that one a "Wings" album just because Laine and Juber and Holly are playing on it?

Why does he always do the very same moderations (and jokes)?
And why does he pretend that this is a Wings song? It's from "Ram", which was a "Paul and Linda McCartney" album.
gutgolf74 3 years ago
Because it is a Wings song....Denny Seiwell and Denny Laine play on the album as well.
It is called a performance....you repeat what you do....there are cues for the folks on the staging that are necessary.
histre101 3 years ago
Well, I guess they know the set-list, so maybe he could do with some other "jokes" from time to time.
You may consider it nitpicking, but, as I and others have pointed out: "Ram" is NOT a Wings album, thus NONE of it's tracks are WINGS-songs.
I found it already weird when he put out "Wingspan" and put "No more lonely nights" and stuff on it instead of some cool Wings tracks...
gutgolf74 3 years ago
If he did other "jokes", the timing is off. As I said before, it's a performance. Look at "Ram" again...he's not playing drums (Seiwell is), Laine is also playing on the album.
