  • wow the captain looks like Liam Neeson

  • wo the captain looks like Liam Neeson

  • I like how the person who played roger is his real name lol.

  • Worst school field trip ever.

This is what happens when little boys do not have a mature adult male influence in their lives to teach them right from wrong. See inner city schools for a modern interpretation.

  • This is one of my most favourite novels I've read that are based in an English background! :)

But I must say, the ending with Piggys death and that heart throbbing moment of being rescued honestly got me teary-eyed.

  • @ImNotScaryImBoredLOL yes piggy's and simon's death was sad jack shouldve died

  • The expression on that RAN officer's face is priceless. Powerful scene.

  • I had no Idea there was a movie (much less 2) I just finished reading the book and it was AMAZING.

Jack was a complete bastard, the whole time I was reading I wanted someone to shove him off a cliff

  • The awful thing is, as far as Ralph was concerned, Piggy's death was probably a blessing. He'd never have abandoned him & as a result, they'd both have been caught & killed :-(

  • The scout says "Fun and Games"?...

  • i would have infiltrated jack's castle rock and stole all of their clothes lol

  • the person whos plays Roger's name is Roger lol and am I the only one that thinks Ralph is cute/James Aubrey(when he was 12 or w/e age he was in 1960's lol)

  • I love this book. this is probebly the only real movie i have seen where it follows the book almost perfectly.

  • apart from the fact that..... the naval officer arrived in some wooden boat when a nuclear war was going on O_O

  • 63 was a good year

  • According to scientific research this is what would actually happen if a load of boys got stuck on an island.... kinda tragic really :(

  • Ohhh so you do not have the time to read the book... but you certainly have the time to read all of the comments, well let me tell you something, at least you read something... I didn´t even read the comments so the answer is YES, there is someone lazier than you, because I wouldn´t have read this comment if I hadn´t written it

  • 3 people= jack and his two idiot twin friends....

  • I think that final scene with the sailors was wrecked by the music... would've been 10 times stronger if all you were able to hear was the waves crashing and the fire burning.

  • @LEG0B0Y if tyou notice its the same music they had at the start when everything was civvilised it shows the return of sanity x

  • @LEG0B0Y Personally I think it's a lot more powerful with the music, especially when you think about what it represents in relation to the story's meaning.

  • Officer looks like a pedo.

  • If that was real and I was on that island with those boys as an adult I would defend piggy and as for that Jack I would kick his ass all round that island.

  • @unhooked25 No need to be an adult, I'd do that as soon as he started being this annoying loser that thinks he's better because he can sing in the tune of C. If he died, not a tear would be shed.

  • @PJATdug Okay that makes sense, I'll go along with that.

  • do yu know what jack has to liv with for

thereat of his life? he murderd 2 kids....hes gona b in trob for that ralph wont let him get away with that nor will he 4giv or 4get thayd b terribl i cudnt liv with myself....jack may b hott but he dusnt deserve to b rescued and nieth dus roger

  • This movie shows how our civilization could become, with no rules, no order. Just pure mayhem. William Golding is an amazing author, I can read the book over and over again.

  • William Golding is a pure genius! The way he interprets the book is magnificant! He's trying to infer if evil is in all of us, and why we do the things we do. The famous line that says it all is when Simon is at the pig's head on the stick, and it "speaks" to him and says "you stupid, silly little boy. You can't kill me, I live inside you. I live inside all of you." Golding is saying that our conscience/fear is what makes us do what we do. Not rules or authority.

  • I like the second to last paragraph in the book that explains Ralph's tears were for the loss of innocence and the death of his friend Piggy. It really made me cry, and watching Ralph cry in the movie just reminded me of that sentence.

  • would lol if when ralf saw the guy he was like "im the only one here lets go!"

    xD

  • LOl the reaction jack must've had when the adults were looking at him proving ralph was right. Its suprising what the island could bring out in all those boys

  • i love how the officer just stands there like wtf? then walks away like all righty then

  • The adults saved the kids. Who is going to save the adults?

  • @masterhalco LOL

  • @masterhalco The kids. ;P

  • This movie had too many naked little boys in it for my taste, I saw this and read this book in 8th grade and it was a good story with tonnes of symbolism, however the ending wasn't the best part, Piggy shouldn't have been killed :( lol

  • This movie was also very random too, especially with that weird boy doing that disturbing dance... lol

  • This was a brutal movie, such a sad ending... and yet they play happy music when Ralph started crying. but overall, I thought this was a really good movie. very suspenseful. I watched this movie because at highschool (grade 9) we were reading this novel about the lord of the flies. We already finished reading the book, I just wanted to see the movie. were're going to have a test about this novel at Friday... I hope I pass...

    My favorite characters are obviously...

    1. Simon

    2. Piggy

    3. Ralph

  • What are clapper boys ??

  • The boys leave their war on the island to then be thrust into another war. So sad. Even more so is that fact that the whole time Piggy believes that grown-ups know everything--that if they had adults there, they would straighten everything out. Nope.

  • is the name of the book called lord of the flies because if they would have killed ralph they would have cut his head off and stuck it on a stick like they did with the pig. then ralph would have been "lord of the flies"

  • @midgetgirl5

actually, the name comes from the pig head, it eventually gets covered in flies. The pig head is a representation of the kids soul and hearths

  • @mafermononoke oh ok

  • wow what a good ending I wish there was a Epilouge in the book

  • I am sure that Ralph went though some intenseive theropy ( I know my spelling sucks but you get the Ideia) and since I think they was all freaked to even see the navy officer they was so happy to know they was going home.

  • lol Ralph, Jack, Piggy, Roger, Simon...also

  • 5:17 BONER.

  • When Samneric tell Ralph at 0:40 that Roger's sharpened a stick at both ends, does it mean that the tribe is going to cut off Ralph's head and offer it to the beast like they did with the pig? I always get confused at that part :/

  • @MoonFlower238 Yes it does :)

  • @MoonFlower238 that's exactly what it means

  • @MoonFlower238 Yes same meaning, basically

  • can someone please tell me some of the symbols of this story?? plzzz

  • The lord of flies was the severed pigs head. It was the evidence that the boys were the monsters on the island.

  • Piggy symbolized civilization and order. That is why his hair didn't grow and he wore his clothes throughout the movie. When one of his lens broke that showed the boys were losing there touch with civilization and order. When they were tooken the boys had also become blind to order. When he died and the conch broke there order and touch with civilization was gone. Simon died trying to show the boys the truth that they were the monsters but some rather be blind then see the truth.

  • I believe that some books should not have a sequel because it might defeat the whole purpose of the author's first book.

  • @SoRachel1993 Yep. Coughpsychocough.

  • @CharmieKid *cough* Lolkay, bro. (: cough*

  • @SoRachel1993 Man, the YouTube flu is worse than I thought.....

  • @SoRachel1993 I disagree. This book is perfect for a followup. I'm very curious to see what happens after.

  • @coolguy5768 I can see where you are coming from, but the fact of the matter is that some authors choose not to go on depending on what happened because they could of covered every important detail that they wanted to in the first book. In other words, Golding used his symbolism and experience already. Perhaps it would be intriguing to know what happens to the boys once they have returned home. However, in my opinion, I believe that a follow up for a book like this would be difficult to imagine

  • @SoRachel1993 yeah plus it told the story perfectly you can tell from Ralph's expresion at the end of the noval and the book that the young boy in him is dead now because of the volience on the island and he sees the world as a savaged places, this is what I like about this story because it shows that even if your brought up diffrently without rules everyone can be just as bad as each other and golding symbolism is capture perfectly, showing us that the boys are thier own worse enermy.

  • @SoRachel1993 or maybe because the first one is so perfect on it's own that they don't want to try and outdo perfection, this film and book are truly perfect and this film is the only good book adaption

  • DUDE the book beats the movie for one thing and i agree he should of done a sequel or somthing!!!!

  • can every one like this so my teacher sees it tmo please v chemicals here jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • 6:35 i at least heard this tune like 5 times throughout the whole movie

  • I saw part of the other movie just now.. it was horrible. Barely like the book. I may be wrong though, I don't know..

Percival is fucking adorable in that last scene, oh my gosh

I absolutely HATED Jack in the book... wish he got like smacked by that sailor..

Ralph crying makes me want to cry.... don't know why!

When I was reading the book, I imagined them in my head as like 17 year olds and Ralph and Simon being really hot..then I watched this...and I was like oh.....

  • 1:25 i saw ur dilly-dink :O

i feel like such a pedo now ._.

  • @Mufasathegodlion Jack isn't "people" to me :D

He's not just some regular bully, he's malevolent beyond belief! He's batshit insane, it's like he's the result of some failed experience. Jack's obsession with hunting can be observed from the very start, which then eventually leads him to killing other kids? Yeah right... xD

  • @Mufasathegodlion Nah, let's face it. The plot is stupid, unrealistic, and I don't think any adults would take it seriously. If kids were stranded on an island, they wouldn't stay sane for 2 days without parents, trust me.

  • The acting is so bad, it's like they don't give a damn.

  • i cried when piggy died :'(

  • 5:10 he's like "WTF?"

    i like his socks

  • 5:10 he's like "WTF?"

  • everyone is talking about english hhahahaha

im only in 8th n were just reading this 4 fun

  • Thumbs up if your watching this the night before your english exam :L

  • When I read the book I remember wanting Ralph to kill Jack and all his followers, except Samneric

  • one thing that i didnt understand until i read the the book and watched the movie again was...

piggy and ralph also took part in killing simon.

  • 5:31 and me im on a horse.

  • If i was there i would FSU for Ralph. haha

  • i think the other movie of lord of the flies portrayed jack better. except the british accent of course. in the other movie you could see how jack gradually became a savage, in this movie it was like "i'm a hunter" BAM! savage I didn't see the build up I should have.movie. I'm still stunned that both of the movies didn't have the pig talking to simon. I LOOOVED simon in the other ralph was perfect in this movie i think. This movie does a much better job at following the guidelines of the book

  • @TheNightlyDayCrew- I agree. This version of the movie is more faithful to the book, but I believe the acting in general and Jack's character specifically to have been better done in the 1990 version.

  • lol the guy who played Roger was really named Roger.

  • holy shit.. James Aubrey (the guy who played Ralph) passed away on the 6th of April 2010...RIP

  • @lonarus you just now realized it?!

  • @iiAngelic actually, not just now. 6 months ago.

  • Ralph was all wrong, but I imagined Jack EXACTLY like that actor. It's actually kind of scary...because my exact vision of Jack was that actor and I'd never seen this before .haha.

  • So basiclly there was a plane crash, those boys were abord, no adults survived, Ralph was alpha leader, Jack was a bitch, there were twins, Simon was a cute tiny kid, the conch symbolized autority or something, Piggy was awesome, they accidentally murder Simon, threw a rock on Piggy, Jack was out to get Ralph and in the end Ralph and all of them got saved by the navy..?

  • i'm a tortoise can't you see! some little tortoise is gonna pee on me!

  • i dont get it why is this called lord of the flies?

  • @ScrewCevo it's called Lord Of The Flies because in the book itself; Simon faints when he sees the pigs head on the stick; and when he wakes up he hallucinates and thinks the pig is talking to him, which the pigs then says he is the 'lord of the flies' and wants to play a game with simon;

  • @ScrewCevo In the book, when they give the pigs head as an offering to the Beast. It quickly swarms with flies. An in the book as well the pig head talks to simon, resulting it being ''Lord of the flies''

  • i love how the chanting just gets cut off at 5:06.

  • This story really kept me, when I started to read it ... I didn`t have to read it in school, just bought it a couple of days ago, .... kinda try to read some classics at the moment... Well, the book is much better, explaines quiet a lot and it makes me like Simon even more, and even way more sad, when he`s been killed ... but the adaption of the book is really good ... especially thinking about the time the movie was made. Quiet capturing and realistic ...

Thanks a lot for the upload!

  • I would have told them the whole story, let jack suffer!

  • I feel like this film is missing so much. Well it is.

  • ralph looks so cute <3 1:42 - 2:14 ;)

  • why the hell didn't William Golding do a sequel or an epilogue or something? i would love to know what happened to the boys after the film - like the ride home, consequences of their actions and stuff.

  • @LoveMyMotherMonster

I guess that is the reason he may didn`t do it ... now you keep thinking yourself what could have happened afterwards ... If this story didn`t make you think about certain things, the story would have failed ... you would think less of the wrongs that have been done ... at least I guess I would, because they are children after all, and what could be a punishment for them? ...

  • @LoveMyMotherMonster i'd like to know what happens to them when they grow up, it would be cool if say ralph re visited the island as an adult and remember everything that happened and start to cry

  • @metanox99 yeah, I'd love to know that too.

  • because it is the story of savagery and total loss of law

  • @mattknowledge1

Loss of justice, rather. You usually have law, but the outcome is often just the same. Just disguised a little.

  • @LoveMyMotherMonster because the book isn't about a bunch of boys on an island. It's about human nature and good vs. evil. An epilogue would've worked, but not a sequel

  • @LoveMyMotherMonster Voted up because I agree

  • @LoveMyMotherMonster That would have been the most awkward ride home ever.

"Jack, you tried to kill me!"

    "Er, yeah... my bad....."

  • @GibbyGoldfisch or something like "we're cool?"

"i will hurt you so badly"

  • @LoveMyMotherMonster i think he recently died after

  • why is called lord of the flies

  • @25michaelangelo because of the pig head that atracts flies earlier. the book describes it. it symbolizes the inner evil of the children which is the theme of the whole book.

  • @25michaelangelo You have to read the book to figure out why. The movie is missing so much.

  • @25michaelangelo well that is a translation from the latin word "beelzebub" which means devil, and so with the theme of this story it's a perfect title

  • no waaaaaaaay!

  • i miss piggy :'(

  • Jack: lets go kill ralph and put his head on a stick! Kids: Yeah!.

Later on: *Jack Lunges said stick at ralph. Ralph then rejects it as hed rather not be killed* Jack: "i told you! hes dangerous!"

no mate, i think you've got it backwards... twat.

  • @alexbarbour747 Haha! I know right, it almost makes me angry that the littluns are following Jack, when he is obviously savage, just proves that the followers will go to the side that benefits them most. ie jack brings pig meat.

Simon, Ralph, Piggy, and kinda samneric were the only intelligent, wise, civil, kind, and genuinely good people

  • If Ralph hadn't have made Jack the head of his choir none of this would have happened.

  • @Chennaigirl123 i'm not so sure about that Jack started getting mad from the moment Ralph was chosen as chief, and Jack is very arrogant so throughout it i still think he would've gained the leadership and the same stuff would have gone down

  • @Chennaigirl123 If you read the book, Ralph didn't like to make people angry or mad or sad. Therefore he announce the Jack could be head of his choir, so he would still be ''Chief'' in some sense.

  • this movie ended almost like apocalipto the movie lol

  • Poor little Percival!! <3 <3 <3 5:51 - 6:28

  • and omg, THANK YOU SOOOOOOO FRICKIN much for uploading thus movie on YouTube!!!!! :D :D Haha, good quality too(; u rlly saved my ass. If i don't finish reading the book, i can still pass any assignments my teacher gives me, because this movie follows the book well and the movie was easy to follow along with(: (: i get it now...there is nvr complete innocence in a man's heart, your true beast will emerge when the situation forces you to to, like if your life at stake!

  • Was Ralph running from Jack and his gang b4 he bumped into that sailor?? Were Jack and his gang chasing him cuz they were trying to kill him?? And seriously...this is the whole movie??? (i thought the movie would be 12 parts like the chapters in the book...and i think i saw somewhere else on YouTube, the vids for this whole movie, but in 12 parts...hmmmm....)

  • @Shoppingstar525 i just wish that part where Simon talks to the Lord of the Flies was in the movie. Apparently, that's the biggest part, and it helps ppl to understand why the book is called what it is. Oh well...the rest of the movie was great, and now i appreciate it! :) but i don't wanna read the book cuz the details are not put out there very clearly so i get bored and confused in the book. This movie gives me wayy better picturization than i had b4. I am now ready for the book! [:

  • @Shoppingstar525 maybe because there parts are 7m long and his or 9m hmmmm.

  • @FlyteWizard what's with the m's?

  • @Shoppingstar525 It's an expression.

  • @FlyteWizard ok. haha sorry, I'm just lost since i saw this movie close to a year ago now.

  • Oooooh, so when I read the book, and the twins said "He's going to sharpen his stick in both ends", I thought he meant he was gonna skewer Ralph like a pig. For some reason I watched this and realized he meant he was going to cut off his head and put it on the stick.

  • ehehe the look on jacks face at the end was like: "shiiiit boys, we've been rumbled!" xD

  • Wow! Is Jack a complete drama queen!! Lol!!

Seriously, though - one of the best books written in the 20th century! Thanks for posting!

  • Haha I can totally imagine the apology with Like total attitude like a kid getting forced to apologise to his brother for punching Jack wuld be like "so umm....were cool rite?"

  • If I was in the situation of beig trapped on the island with them I'd make friends with Jack so I don't die. The only character I didn't like was Roger cuz he's a little fag lol

  • if i was on a boat with jack i would have thrown himoff the boat. he killed poor piggy and simon

  • PTSD

  • How would you end up behaving if you where in that situation?

" Maybe the beast is only us, " Simmon said after he´d met the lord of the flies.

  • I´ve found this old film of Lord of the Flies is the one whose script really sticks to the original book. However, the original work´s worth reading! That´s there where the true nature of what´s wrong in the islan becomes clearly evident. In fact, these boys reflect the true nature of the human being.

  • @gabilusonica they killed the scene where simon meets the lord of the flies though. all he does in the movie is look at it

  • they should have played I'm on a boat on the credits

  • @MoogledKupo Would've made my day.

  • I thinks its kind of disturbing how it goes back to the jolly tune and it shows ralph crying, and the island burning

  • jack and rodger are cunts

  • that ship ride home must have been AKWARD.

  • @SLAPnPOP726 DUDE!! soo true!!

  • @SLAPnPOP726

JACK: Ralph can you pass me the bread and butter?

    RALPH: Go fuck yourself

  • the whole time i was reading this book i wanted to back hand jack so bad.

  • @ghettohomee i know, right?

  • @ghettohomee I ended up backhanding the book multiple times. I've gone through 3 copies.

  • Ralph was cool.

  • They should of left jack and roger to starve to death on the island for murdering simon and piggy

  • Maybe Jack and Roger will commit suicide...That would make a wonderful ending.

  • i feel so sorry for piggy..he was the most sensible one and he died :( same with innocent simon :(

its like the bloody titanic when the rich guy lives but leo dies :'(

  • @solidnoata some bitesize revision video was saying he went on to be an estate agent ;) haha but probably muuuuch worse > a bailiff bully! :P

  • Dude fuck jack and the rest of the boys too except simon and piggy jeez really feel bad for them

  • y is there green flashes?

  • I'm glad that I wasn't baby sitting

  • @TheLittleWorldofGaz lol if i was babysitting those kids, hell... id make sure theyd listen xD but what am i saying, i have 3 younger brothers and they already give me a hard time x0

no wonder Jack is pissed most of the time, lol

  • I saw this version as a kid on TV. I wasn't more then 8 or 9 when I watched it and even then I found it disturbing. Especially the death of Simon. I remember that scene staying in my head for a while. Much better then the 1990 movie. Thanks for the upload.

  • i was adding on to jacks apology, cuz some one said cuz someone said just imagein jack saying sorry to ralph, and someone replied to that by "sorry i killed simon and piggy,"

  • "and atempting to murder you"

  • I hate that son of a bitch who killed piggie!

  • its always the quite ones!!! , i hate roger

  • 6:35 That music is just.....UGH!!

  • lol true.

  • Ralph should have lied to the officer and said there was no one else there and leave Jack and his followers to burn.

  • hell yea!!! but jack and the others came out!

  • Haha I bet Ralph was thinking: "Maybe I should...No! No! Think, Ralph. Think what Piggy would do!"

  • @Godzillaman what do u mean by that?

  • @Godzillaman Yeah. We just finished that book in my English class and I was pissed to find out they were all being rescued.
