@themutantninja Secondly Qur'an 2:7 does indicate that it is Allah who has decided the unbelievers shall lack faith rather than Satan. But, even if it did say SATAN has led them astray the buck still stops will Allah, i.e. unbelief would still be Allah's responsibility as he allows Satan power. I hope you can see why I'm still confused?! Peace!
@themutantninja Thank you TMJ. Afraid I still can't quite reconcile Allah being all-knowing AND all merciful given his punishement of unbelievers. Two points: belief in Allah is not a matter of conscience, rather one of reason. I cannot lie and say "I believe" as Allah would see through this deception. Seems unfair that I should be tormented forever because I do not see the case for his existence (when He knowingly provided me with a skeptical brain in the first place.
Sabhanallah.. sends shivers down the spine. When you listen and understand we come to a conclusion that allah (God) knows our hearts and is there and seeing hummans in evrey situation as he says he is the all seeing, the all hearing. But sabhanllah we forget and as we continue in life we come in a state of unawareness.. So people who read this supplicate to allah to make us people who are aware and who understand his power and to make us rightouts because allah loves the rightouts :) Ameen!
@Leaf2812 I'm only asking to try and find an answer that I have neglected to consider. I do not necessarily think it "more fair that everyone should be saved". But I do think it UNFAIR that unbelievers are punished for eternity when: a) Allah has determined their unbelief (if my understanding of the verses cited below are correct; and b) one could live a perfectly moral life minus belief. Do you think this is fair?

@papichulo121 PS. Homo Sapiens are thought to have been on the earthly scene for at least 100k yrs & so Noah's arrival was relatively recent. And why would God restrict the delivery of his message to a small portion of the middle-east? You will note that this EXACTLY what one would expect if religion had been man-made. A God, if at all interested in the faith of his creations, could surely afford to employ more convincing and equitable measures.
@dmbtmartin "I have reached this position after careful thought[...]" Why are you debating on this video then? And yes God is The Reckoner, and the belief in God is not a fairy tale (as in you assume that it would be more fair that everyone should be saved, even though what they have done). God is the Most Merciful towards the believers but if you disbelieve you're basically out of luck. It's not a contradiction, rather it's justice. Besides, who are you to say how God should think?
In conclusion, I should like to point out that I am an athiest or unbeliever. But I have reached this position after careful thought and use of my rational faculties. I would dearly love to believe in a loving and just God but I cannot accept him on the basis of reason and the available evidence. It would be cruel of Allah to punish me forever, would it not, simply for using, in good faith, the mind he has given me to make sense of the universe?
@papichulo121 Also, The Holy Qu'ran says clearly that it is Allah that has "Veiled the hearts" of the unbelievers: 2:6-7; 6:25; 17:97-98 and 18:57. Thus I still see a contradiction in Allah's claims of mercy and the eternal torment that awaits his children.
@papichulo121 Peace! Thank you very much for responsding to my message, keeping a civil, respectful tone and trying to help me understand your position Papichulo. I was very intersted to read your thoughts but I still cannot see how Allah's mercy supercedes his wrath.
Allah knew that the guidance He HAD GIVEN would NOT be sufficient to make a significant number of his creation have faith in him - and then He punishes them for ever and ever.
@dmbtmartin throughout the existence of man. Starting with Noah, all the way through to Abraham with his scriptures, Jesus with his scriptures and finally Mohammed with his scriptures, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon them all! God/Allah (whichever you prefer) is not unjust, his mercy supercedes his wrath and nothing delights him more than his creation acknowledging him. Peace!
@dmbtmartin Noah was not the first existing prophet. Adam was and all prophets from Adam to Mohamed communicated a message of one God ... Other than that I agree with the rest of what you said.
@dmbtmartin God/Allah (whichever you prefer) has bestowed every human being with free will, sound reasoning and judgement (bar those who are mentally inept). From the moment you come of age and can discern between right and wrong, you choose your way in life. This of course is influenced by the things around you and your experiences. And Allah has not chosen belief or disbelief for anyone. That is a choice you make at some point in your life and to help you Allah constantly been sending guidance
@shumusb6 - I know the unbelievers will receive extreme punishment. I'm asking how Allah can be considered 'merciful' when He has determined that they shall not believe in the first place?
I'm confused. Would someone explain how an all merciful god can punish the pagans and unbelievers in hell-fire when it is god himself who has created them, led them astray and veiled their hearts? These are surely the actions of a sadistic deity, rather than a benficient one.
@dmbtmartin You've misunderstood God did not lead them astray, it was satan who did. But you've still got your conscious to determine right or wrong, surely you need sufficient knowledge to determine right and wrong, the Qur'an gives us that. We only find the logical reasons later on through experience. I hope you've found your answer in there
