I think homophobia has more to do with an intolerant upbringing than bad experiences. @MoLewis57 - The problem is that a lot of straight guys feel that if a Gay guy is attracted to them (and straights seem to think that all Gay guys are attracted to them, which is patently untrue) there must be something wrong with them (the straight guy). The straight guys who get the most upset do so because they are afraid of being labeled "Gay" themselves - probably because they are closeted.

@MoLewis57 Why is someone that believes homosexuality is sin. is a sin? Why is this view considered sin? So if someone thinks straights are gross then that is their opinion. I believe it is sin so why am I automatically hateful? My dad was a smoker and I hated his smoking. Does that mean I automatically a smokeophbic bigot? (I made that word up and probably did not spell it correctly. Of course how could you tell if it is a new word)

@RepresentingTruth - What harms other people is usually criminal and certainly morally objectionable. Smoking is harmful (to the smoker and to the person exposed to smoke). Child abuse, rape, promiscuity, adultery are harmful, often criminal and certainly morally objectionable - but straight peope are more likely to commit those acts than Gay people. Saying that homosexuality is a sin is morally objectional, dishonest and bigoted.
