  • ....Man only stands 5'10", but has a neck like a buffalo. He never really touch weights, in his 80's prime, but had a shit-tin more power than guys 6'3"- 6'5" and ripped. And yet as muscular as he was, he looked more like someone had just come along, stuck a bicycle pump in side and filled to 'popping point'. He naturally looked like that. Plus it's not all about the body. Sure it helps to have a decent one but if don't a have a hidden hyper-aggressive, snapping point...then move aside boy!!!

  • ....Ripped state, I'll will be a machine. Unstoppable!!!" But then they get knocked the fuck out and around the field, cause they don't have natural defences(Massively powerful jawline, head basically made of stone, chin made of granite, heavy dense bones and structure) So they have put all this, very pretty looking muscle on, but they're body isn't designed for it. Some cultures have a natural advantage: Samoan, Maori, Russian, German, Croatian etc...Plus look at Mike Tyson for example....

  • What all these fellas don't understand is ripped muscle mass, does 'not' always mean strength. And muscle strength definitely does not equal body power/explosive power. If you look back through history, the most powerful men, have always had a healthy mixture of muscle covered by a ample amount of fat. Some blokes can workout for years, but if you do not have the genetic pre-disposition for natural bulk/muscle/power. They think, "If I put on a massive amount of muscle and then shred it to a....

  • This workout is not just for fat loss. It does contain strength and stamina more especially with the push up situation pushing the treadmill.

  • Lol, nice smith machine.

  • while I disagree about this workout being what Matt damon used to put on muscle.. it was definitly a kickass workout

  • Good vid. South African myself so I like the invictus title too. My cousin showed me a Russian military routine which has some similar techniques. As with this, you have to do the techniques to realise how strenuous some of them are. Intense work out that works the whole body.

  • all this fancy stuff doesnt need to happen. Just a good diet and a bodybuilding 101 program

  • Anyone who is within 10-17% body fat range that diets properly for 6 months can have a muscular body and look visibly stronger. And i think this is what happens especially when actors cut down. Everyone thinks they get god like strength gains from a certain workout...when in fact they just eat right.

  • the thing is about rugby is that those guys are unbelievably strong.some of the forwards are just in incredible shape.not only stacked but the power and dynamic strength is off the chart.alot of rugby teams have introduced pilates into the work out because stability is such a huge factor in professional rugby.but out of the gym just on the training pitch the drills and contact work makes them almost superhuman.

  • Some gay exercises.

  • @MrAsweqwe Some gay comments, like to see you fight this guy

  • Respond to this video... I also appreciate an American showing the respect to rugby that it deserves. Annoys me when they rip rugby without ever playing it before.

  • @TBPerkins lol, respond to this video... Don't know why that was posted.

  • your a beast!

  • Those short term goals are dangerous, because you may injure yourself or overtrain. If you want to live a long and healthy life, train moderately but regularly. Always listen yourself and think what you can do or what you are not ready. Muscle growth is a slow process. And fitness is not everything in life, don't let it be an obsession.

  • what a weird and funny workout. I'm sure it works, but everyone at the gym will be looking at me.

  • Don't touch that treadmill! I'll be back on it for 10 seconds!

  • MATT DAMON?? since when?? neglecting Tom Jane's The punisher, or scott adkins the undisputed 3 physique! come ON for GOD'S SAKE.

  • but i don't wanna be like matt damon?

i wanna be like John Cena

  • @SAMaOriAN111 I think so...that's what im gna be doing...but prob the ironman one...lol

  • i bought the athlean x program, i dont have the ladders to use on tues and thurs and the program says i can use this, 300, iron man and the expendables in place. so does that mean i can do these workouts every tues and thurs?

  • Don't ever make the mistake of playing rugby to get fit. You have to be extremely fit just to play 20 minutes - to play for the full 80 minutes you need to train really, REALLY hard.

  • do as many of these workouts as you like, but ill assure you: if you have never played one game of rugby, you'll never survive one half! remember, the video is to train you how to LOOK like a rugby player, not give you the ultimate fitness of one!

  • Hey can you tell me the best way to build your chest and in the shortest amount of time ?? I play rugby i have big arms and legs just need to build my chest up. Thanks in advance.

  • this is the first of your videos i have been negative towards due to it being training geared towards rugby, sorry but its very obvious there is no experiance in the sport or any research done on the physical demands of the game.

saying that, just as a workout and nothing to do with rugby it is good for general conditioning.

  • @matiduncan1 i hope you are referring to the bloke in the video, otherwise you are very very wrong in regards to research done on rugby

  • This type of training would be considered multifunctional/multidirectional strengthening and is a valuable co potent to rugby training. Our Allblacks team incorporate this type of training into their regimes. If you are lifting weights it's ideal for battling muscle restriction and joint movements as well as ensuring you can perform at your optimum. Those who just stick to weights are failing themselves. Don't be afraid to touch a medicine or a Swiss ball guys they won't bite.

  • This will not build a lot of musvle

  • does it really work? is it that effective?

  • invictus was so wrong nz team in final was poisend

  • @mikehuncho1 I'm 14 and in awesome shape all because I started getting really into rugby and then started doing workouts for it. This sport is AWESOME.

  • what a spoofer. you need to lift big weights to build muscle.

  • which muscles does the last exercise work out?

  • im a rugby player, but let me tell ya nothing works you harder than wrestling

  • Man I'm knackered just watching that lol,iv gone so out of shape. As I watching I could remember the way my arms used to get rock hard like they were going to explode when I was training an the veins would pop up.What the hell happened to me

  • for a rugby workout all exercises need to be more explosive with the movements. just a tip

  • @MrBrentraemillar not nessecarily (or however u spell it) completely depends which stage of training you are in and if the player is injured etc

  • btw do you take supplements?

  • hey just a question, after i workout , i like to run home but i am not sure if i should take protein right after my workout or after my run back from my workout. From my last set to getting home it normally takes about 40 mins and i have heard that you will not gain as much muscle if you dont take protein right after your workout. Would you suggest that eat protein right after weights or after running?

  • @The0933240011 you should take your protein as soon as you finish in the gym (or at least with in half an hour), I presume ure a recreational trainer, so it may not make a massive difference but if you are well conditioned you should take your protein/carb supplement asap after you've finished your workout

  • @blueleaf1717

thanks very much for the advice. I really appreciate it ;^)

  • What is your height and weight? How did you get that chest?

  • Hey Jeff,

Can we use the AthLEAN X-treme (Red) or the AthLEAN Classic (black) depending on our fitness level? In the "SUPERBAND LUNGE PICKUP" exercise, the leg picking up the ball is always the right. Should we do the same for the left or the example you showed is already the complete exercise?

    Thank you.

  • i played rugby for england under 16's last year, and everyone gets bogged down on traditional workouts, but it is incredibly important to do more workouts like this, for example those who bench the most arent always the most powerfull or the strongest on the pitch, its all about functional strength, and although this isnt that great it definately has a good idea of whats needed, but that bit about the scrum as utter bulshit

  • @JDCav24

How many times a week should I do the Invictus workout?

    Many thanks!

  • @DARTHBANEREVAN any one condition burst workout like this you should do once, maybe twice a week, tbh twice a week is probably ideal in terms of fitness and results, but do other burst workouts in between so it keeps your body guessing and getting used to new things.

  • This is an awesome change up for guys doing traditional S&C programs. They are usually pretty brutal and sometimes boring. This would not be appropriate all the time, but it would be an excellent cardio/metabolic shake up say at the end of a mesocycle before testing. That treadmill push is actually pretty smart.

  • "just like the pros do"? wtf. this is a metabolic conditioning workout with high reps, light weight, and no rest. it's for fat loss and conditioning. NOT for muscle building and NOT for strength.

  • @brycecoad1

This type of work out can be used to build muscle and improve vo2 max with out wasting muscle.

Other work outs can give better muscle growth but at the expense of conditioning this type of work out is a balance to that.

  • That is not how you gain muscle. You have progressively overload your body with compound movements.

  • Very tough workout.

  • if you dont have a treadmill is it ok to use an eliptical?

  • @bassist862 maybe but its not as great of a workout because its not already going so you have to get going but its better than nothing.

  • Lots of "super", "invicible", "extreme" superlatives...

  • It is a well known secret that actors are able to add 10-20- or 30 lbs of muscle for a role is because they take steroids.

  • @boisintang

10 to 20 Ibs of muscle can be added with out steroids.

The secret that these actors have is that they have time and the best professional assistance to achieve this and plenty of money as well.

Average people do not have the time nor money to be able to do the type of research that is required to achieve this type of gains.

Athletes do it all the time as it is there job and they employ people like the guy in this video.

    The internet has changed this.

  • Why isnt he wearing a shirt?

  • @cavan132 because he wanna show u that he is really ripped u dumb bitch if i were ripped i would never waer shirt...he is too proud

  • @cavan132 That's a very good question, don't you?

  • rugby = great sport.

  • Why should someone would like to train with this movie-crap-routine if you can play real rugby and train for real rugby?

why should someone would like to see like Matt Damon if you can look like James Haskell by training and playing like him??

  • That's why i like boxing workouts, he only worked out for like 6 to 7 mins and was breathing freakin hard, I'd rather have strength, power, and stamina combined than just have a nice body like this guy. Yea Yea don't get me wrong he is in pretty good shape

  • The fastest rugby games in the world are played by the All Blacks.

  • You don't play rugby do you? This is all very average stuff and definitely not rugby fitness!...O and do we all have to do it with our shirts off?!!

  • @timtop4 i would love to see this tiny guy trying to tackle players like tana umaga or tuilagi

  • cool workout idea!

  • Excellent video great exercises well performed.... functional fitness at its best

  • instead of the med ball, could plates be used? or even weights?

  • @Mhatty07 Definitely. Whatever you have at your disposal!

  • @JDCav24 Great we have loads of fat ugly chicks round are way il use one of them.

  • @JDCav24 Whats the best way of drying the muscle out, i've gained a lot of body mass in 7 months of working out, im 1.93 cm tall and when i started i was 93 KG, now im 100 - 101, my muscles have increased in size extremely (E.x my biceps were 39 cm, now they r 46) but still there is a thin layer of fat underneath my skin, so whats the best way of drying that fat out without loosing the gained mass and get the muscles stressed out???

  • @MrAppolo777 your the same height and weight as me do you play rugby because if you do you've got to be a lock or number 8

  • @WhiskerScot569 No mate wish i was, that’s my favorite sport. But if i was i would have been 8 man.

  • @MrAppolo777 Good choice and one that isn't for the faint of heart I play as lock, winger, 8 or even centre or fullback but i don't like playing the last 2 posistions as i prefer to use my weight to do the tackling and to shift bodies at the breakdown and i'm glad rugby is your favourite sport because it's mine to and it's one that allows you a channel for your anger and it allows a certain amount of thuggery and skulduggery

  • that last workout thing really impressed me, thank god i have a tread mill haha

  • WHERES MATT?

  • i would like to see a fight club workout, another cool one, would be christian bale for batman

  • Dude, you're awesome! Thanks so much.

  • Awesome for a lean and toned bod. Interval/circuit training

  • Comment removed

  • you said they sprint 80% of the time so why are you only go 8.5 miles on the treadmill?

  • Im trainning to be a rugby player and only 16 years old and i am 13 and a half stone and 5ft 10, i dont have a gym like your's and only have weights also a large space what would you recommend for me to train my physical side for rugby because of the lack of equipment i have i am unable to do much of this video. Your video's are cool such as the abs ones and took certain ab crunches which i felt were most effective and able to do and i will keep watching your awesome workouts.

  • @AlbieJAssassin All you need to train for rugby is a barbell and some weights: squats, bench presses, overhead presses, deadlifts, power cleans should be the focus of strength training. Everything else you can do on a field. Running/sprinting/agility training. At 16 you don't need to be fancy, work on building muscle and the basics. Focus on power cleans and overhead presses, these are the best exercises to build a strong body for rugby. I know a lot of rugby players that do clean and press

  • @wizardlyfriend The thing that i worry about when doing the weights is if i will lose my pace and agility also another big concern is to keep the inflence up because after a week i start to lose it i need to find something to keep me going but do not know what or whom.

  • Hey man love you videos, really good work outs!!! just wanted to ask you a question, could u tell me some good work outs for the obliques or ( love handles) :)

just cant really seem to find any that work??

    cheers man:)

  • Do you do just one set of these? or more?

  • @defelix2432 Try to do as many rounds as you can....up to 4 total

  • are there any cheaper alternatives to the dynamax ball you used because they cost like $125!

  • You don't eat the skins from chicken do you.

  • This is more of a fat loss workout, not a muscle building one. You guys don't honestly think guys like Matt Damon get jacked from playing with a ball and running, do you? It's heavy weights, lots of protein, and probably some form of steroids if they have to gain the weight in under 6 months and still be cut. I can guaranfriggintee they aren't doing a workout like this, unless they're already huge and just need to cut.

  • @ryanjm true, but this is perfect for rugby

  • @ryanjm your american you have absolutely no clue about rugby... its not all about weights.. these would be incredibly uselfull for a rugby player

  • @reubenw59 Reading comprehension fail. Where did I say this wasn't useful for rugby? Clue: Nowhere. I said this isn't good for building muscle and getting "big." Notice the title of the video: Building muscle like matt damon.

  • @ryanjm yes, for rugby!! silly boy!

  • Yo Jeff I am in sweden right now visiting family I will be back in the states in about 2 more wks MAN if you keep this SH-T UP you're going to create a MONSTER I have inclined the treadmill & cut it off & carry a half full keg to failure but I never thought about TM PUSH Bro I DO NOT KNOW WHAT PLANET YOU ARE FROM But keep the T.I.P.S coming I love this type training I CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK HOME I am going to kill it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Son

  • where do you get a band like that, and what type of medicine ball was that?

  • this is a great rugby workout I've started using it for my selects season this summer and my scrummaging has improved alot good stuff man!

  • It might be a smart idea to paste a BIG yellow or white dot on the treadmill, so other people in the gym can see that the treadmill is running ! Otherwise you are gonna kill some unsuspecting sap that climbs on your treadmill without noticing! Especially with all that loud crappy music in most gyms. (nobody will hear it running!)

  • Hey, I have an extra T-shirt for you! You seem to be missing one.

  • Hey man, it's better for your whole body if you run on the balls of your feet even when you're jogging. It's easier on your knees and legs and keeps you from having problems with your lower body when you run. It will also build up the muscles in your foot and your calves.

  • Cracking workout. Just got back from trying it at gym .................. I nearly hurled!! The closest thing to match fitness, but in a gym.

  • I don't think certain celebrities just roid up. They have the money to buy all kinds of things to really work out and I heard they do something called the master cleanse to lose fat EXTREMELY FAST, ex. Jared Leto.

But yeah Matt Damon gained like 40 lbs for a part, then he loses it all, then gains a bunch of muscle, in the course of a year and a half.

    That's crazy...

    Also great video as always.

  • Lets just admit it, Most actors roid up for roles! Fact not opinion!

  • @carlton31174 Indeed, it's the thing that no one wants to talk about. A natural man will gain -with pretty good nutrition, genetics, and workout routines- about 15lbs. max. in a year.

  • dude your vids are awsome!!! im 16 from england and i play rugby, your workout is basicly what we do but we usually flip tractor tires instead of pushing the treadmill but still amazing video!! respect

  • My goodness. It doesn't seem fair that it takes that much hard work to be skinny and muscular! ARGHHHH!!!! But I BET it's worth it.

  • @DeathRattleShakes ...Heh, not fair...Hahah, but yeah, it's pretty dang worth it.

  • recently, i've heard of the TRX (suspension training). have you had any experience with it? would you recommend it?

  • Sugar Tom, Rugby players are incredibly fit! The top flight all have stength n conditioning coaches which are better for players than celebrity trainers!

  • @zeppy73, that is so true. Rugby players are among the fittest athletes in the world. They have all the attributes of fitness: Agility, Endurance, Strength, Balance, Coordination, Speed, Power and three more that I forgot.

  • Cultur1st. It sounds like you are from a marketing company. If the rugby players had all these qualities, they would never get injured - but they do. In reality, no sportsman has all these qualities. I would say that Roger Federer probably has greater agility than most rugby players, Lance Armstrong, greater endurance, Usain Bolt, speed, and Evan Lysacek for co-ordination. These are all from different sports. No one sport possesses all the qualities.

  • Of course this sport does. It's common sense. Just THINK of what's involved.

As for 'greater' qualities - who's talking about that?

As for injuries - dude, these people are pro's. All pro's get injured because they compete in extreme conditions. Again, what has this got to do with the PRESENCE or ABSENCE of fitness ATTRIBUTES?

You sound like you've never been to school.

  • Cultur. All I am saying is that no one has all these abilities. If they did, they would be Superman and not get injured. What you are saying is fantasy.

  • What 'abilities' are you referring to? Fitness attributes? You can have all if you train for all. Speed - rugby, ring a bell? Strength - rugby. Endurance - rugby. ETC. Which part of fitness attributes don't you understand?

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger Boom-boom, spot on!!!

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger ur an idiot

  • you just made yourself sound so stupid it's unreal man

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger of course they have the money! its a professional sport! in england most premiership players are paid upwards of £300,000 a season. todays game requires extremely high levels of conditioning, strengh, and mental toughness to be able to compete effectively. look at the likes of pierre spies, sonny bill williams and steven ferris, all phenominal athletes with all these qualities.

  • Like the Variations dont get bored with one thing

  • i play rugby league which is amazing and trust me no workout i have ever done adds up to a game, even though being only in an under 16s team and playing 60 minute games

  • Comment removed

  • thy guy is so hot

  • this guy forgot to mention that diet plays about 87% of the gain results.

  • yea damon was ripped but you cant say that about the other players!. . . . .jeeeeez there impression of a rugby player was disgracefull!

  • killer video cant wait to try it

  • I don't have any of these things in my house. What do?

  • hey man great vid i was wondering if you would be able to do a vid specialized manly for the trapezius muscle

  • the best excesises for the trapezious muscles are mainly shrugs use as heavy dumbells as u can lift that gets them growing real quick

  • Deadlifts

    Shrugs

    Hangcleans

In that order are the best exercises for your traps

  • awesome vid thx jeff

  • you got that body from using athleanx?

  • You are cool as ...IM from New Zealand.. Go all Blacks!

  • Great workout for Rugby but not for putting on muscle! Matt Damon put on muscle lifting IRON!!! Show us his workout! Not cardio with light weights!

  • How do you know? Have you tried it...do you play rugby?...Ruggah boys are all out hard boys, none of them look like a body builder but a bodybuilder would get smashed by even a little winger...id say this is a good weight training session. Do it over and over again and youl get ripped up! This is good..

  • dosent that bit at the end, pushing the treadmill break it ??

    anyway great vid

  • what an awesomebody!

  • your awesome man thanks for the vids

  • Tuff workout,

just had to try and boy was i tired,

especially after tat treadmill push man thats a killer ;)

thx for another great workout vid =)

  • ncie work jeff

  • Yo this is work Jeff, U think this is more effective for building muscle than goin to the gym and doin a bodypart per day? Thanks. keep up with the vids.

  • Good**

  • Godd stuff!! Keep it up :)
