kool plane but i wish they had radio or TVs, ive flown it 10000 times nd it sux going 3+ hrs without any entertainment...well besides cute flight attendants lol
the new meger design looks alot better, will they paint over all of there planes with it, the meger paint job made the airline look more profesional, i just like it alot
actually the cabin pressure is set manually about 200 feet above the takeoff altitude. So it does vary. But also everyones body is different like you said.
my ears popped like fuck so many times on that plane whats up with that??? many times my ears were popped so bad i could barely hear anyone talk to me...
That depends...could be the way the pilots varied pressurization during flight, especially during descent.
My ears used to pop quite often in the past, but now I'm either used to it or the pressurization changes are so gradual that it doesn't affect me. Not sure in your case.
i flew on one of these with delta from pittsburgh to atlanta and hopped on another to go from atlanta to west palm beach florida. the engines are loud from inside the plane as you can tell their in the back. or at least mine were in the back
The age of an aircraft is irrelavant when its well maintained. That said, the MD-88 isn't that old....the oldest were built in the late 80s and the last ones were built in 2000
IF you think you think Md88s are too old then you probably aren;t gonna fly the following aircraft:
737-300,-400,-500
Older 747-400s
Most 757s
most 767s
Older A319,A320andA321s
Most A300s and A310s
Basically if you're gonna avoid a 20 year old planes you're pretty screwed
Again, as ElBandGeek said, age is nothing when you have very good maintenence. Whether it's a DC-9, 737NG, or MD88, it's gonna be a flying coffin when your maintenence is crap.
Though some may be kinda old, there are lots MD-80s from the mid-90s (and some of Delta's MD-90s are from the late 90s). The noise is because it's rear-mounted rather than wing mounted.
yeah i know. Md 90 and the newest md 95 also renamed boeing 727 after the buy out of mcdogless. But never like the dc 9 series. But i know its a matter of taste:) But md 88 is typically betwen 17 to 20 years old. Sas have a lot of them and i hate working on them:) theres a lot of teknical problems with these planes.
It would be nice, but is not the case. We took off towards the west (RWY 24R) and never flew over the city. If we had taken one of the 06 runways, that would have been quite the sight!
hey what is the highest angle of pitch that an md-88 can fly before it stalls? sorry i'm really nervous b/c a.)it looks really steep 2.)i'm gonna be flying on one in march.
Nice dude ;)

I love how quiet the Mad Dogs are upp front, but I also love a good JT8D, the humming of a low bypass sounds really nice on takeoff.

It's so noisy because it has Low-Bypass Engines

@Cook1993 Pressurization is not automatic in the MD-80 Family, or DC-9 family. Or MD-90 Family.

Hey this is DVA6293 wow those engines of the md88 are great contact me later
DVA6293 3 years ago
I wouldn't know that since I only fly non-pressurized aircraft. I am not versed in such aircraft systems.
Not sure your comment " . . and are not very good when it comes to flying" is particularly friendly to the viewers.

Hint drink lots of fluids and swallow very often. It clears up your ears.

dislike the md 88 so much... Its noisy as hell and the inventure is realy badly made out typically in a md 88. you can see it a quite old plane..

Personal taste, but I don't mind the "noise."

sas do not have one single MD-88 they have MD81-82-83-87 the only european airlines that use MD-88 are Iberia and Onur Air as far as i know.

Yes, the MD-80 series aircraft do seem to have steep angles, but it is always within aircraft limits. Have fun on your flight!

Too bad they don't sound like that from outside of the plane. From the outside, they sound like a roar of garbage.
