Yeah, this looks iffy. I'm not going to jump to conclusions, but I'm prepared to be disappointed. I know Tennant couldn't be the Doctor forever, but I part of me whishes that he could've.
i think it's awful, that a video which is for a family show, people are being mean and swearing in the comments, please think about the younger generation who watch doctor who, and is really who the program is aimed for, who would want to watch this video.

They're going to take him in a new direction. That's what they do on this show. They've had to go through this, what, nine times before? And they'll do it again. I think it's great that the show doesn't have to go away because a new actors going for the role.
Does Matt Smith remind anybody of Sean Maher aka Doc Simon Tam from Firefly/Serenity? I think they have rather similar features. Though this guy's face is a bit longer.

I agree that we shouldn't judge the new guy until we have actually watched the new series. I'm a huge Tennant fan, but the whole show is based on the transitory nature of the Doctor. Tennant couldn't remain forever, and it's better to lose him now when he's still greatly loved, than to let the show stagnate with him. Bringing someone new in will take the show to a whole new level. I trust the writers and the show itself. It'll be great no matter.
And saying things like "Things are changing! I'm going to hate it no matter what!!!" is a better way of approaching it? I think not. objectivity and trust in the fact that the show has lasted this long on this concept, to me, is a much healthier mindset. Think what you will though.

Seriously? You really don't watch British tv very often do you? I'm American by the way. The great thing about British tv is that they don't take it all too seriously. That's the problem with American television. Britons understand it's important to have a laugh, enjoy oneself & not over-think it.. And besides, the show it's about the special effects. It's about the story. This story have ten times the development that most all of the US shows have combined. That's what keeps people coming back.
100% agree with you there. I'm American as well and I highly prefer British television. Americans, as a culture, are impressed by explosions and the newest effect technology. The Brits are far more old school, because generally when you get obsessed with the special effects portion you lose story and character development. Besides which, Doctor Who is RENOWNED for its cheesy effects - it's just part of the show. The Daleks are the silliest looking creatures ever, but the show's still brilliant.
The "cheesy" effects are done on purpose. The audience for this show and others like it are here for character and story and actual acting, and they don't want to attract the slope-headed mouth-breathers who're just attracted to special effects. It's like a great present wrapped in brown paper, as opposed to a crappy present wrapped in shiny paper for stupid people who like shiny things.

with Comcast, you need to order it, but you will be forced by comcast to buy a 100 channel package.
It will likely be on channel 114, go to that channel, and you will see a phone number to call, and you can order, and negotiate the payments and channels.

I've grown up with Doctor Who, mom was a great fan of that show, and it was hit on PBS years ago. I still say that David is best one because its the first Doctor Who that was mine, not one that I had to watch cause my mom made me. LOL! Yes David may have left the series on his own but it's really to say good bye to the familiar and welcome new. Like I said before I will check out the new show anyways.
@therealstandaman Mr Tennant was indeed amazing, at first I didn't really like him, Christopher although short lived was one of my favorites, David grew on me and eventually stole my heart as best doctor so far.

oh yeah, his species has the ability to regenerate whole new bodies (and personalities) when their old one gets worn out or severely damaged. Quite convenient as the series has been around since 1963 (longest running sci-fi series in history), Matt makes the 11th person to play the role.
They should've kept David, he was the best doctor, he was just everything. You can't replace the acting, all that history he built with ever show. I'll still follow this doctor on tv though but David will always be thee doctor.

Why are people being so negative? They've seen Matt only for a few minutes at the end of the New Year's special, the trailer, and now this teaser. I don't think that's quite enough to judge him as an actor. Who knows? Maybe he'll turn out to be better than David Tennant, and that's coming from someone who loves the Tenth Doctor.

I agree that we shouldn't judge the new guy until we have actually watched the new series. I'm a huge Tennant fan, but the whole show is based on the transitory nature of the Doctor. Tennant couldn't remain forever, and it's better to lose him now when he's still greatly loved, than to let the show stagnate with him. Bringing someone new in will take the show to a whole new level. I trust the writers and the show itself. It'll be great no matter.

And saying things like "Things are changing! I'm going to hate it no matter what!!!" is a better way of approaching it? I think not. objectivity and trust in the fact that the show has lasted this long on this concept, to me, is a much healthier mindset. Think what you will though.

I was totally out on Tennent at first. Hated him, actually, but then I caught on. I'm trying to reserve judgment here, but this new guy just rubs me the wrong way.

Seriously? You really don't watch British tv very often do you? I'm American by the way. The great thing about British tv is that they don't take it all too seriously. That's the problem with American television. Britons understand it's important to have a laugh, enjoy oneself & not over-think it.. And besides, the show it's about the special effects. It's about the story. This story have ten times the development that most all of the US shows have combined. That's what keeps people coming back.

100% agree with you there. I'm American as well and I highly prefer British television. Americans, as a culture, are impressed by explosions and the newest effect technology. The Brits are far more old school, because generally when you get obsessed with the special effects portion you lose story and character development. Besides which, Doctor Who is RENOWNED for its cheesy effects - it's just part of the show. The Daleks are the silliest looking creatures ever, but the show's still brilliant.

The "cheesy" effects are done on purpose. The audience for this show and others like it are here for character and story and actual acting, and they don't want to attract the slope-headed mouth-breathers who're just attracted to special effects. It's like a great present wrapped in brown paper, as opposed to a crappy present wrapped in shiny paper for stupid people who like shiny things.
Now, go amuse yourself with this piece of wadded-up aluminum foil!

Wow! ok I am confused I never kept up with the new series (was a fan of the old) but what cable network can I watch the new episodes? I have comcast here in the USA but I don't remember seeing a BBC/America channel....

with Comcast, you need to order it, but you will be forced by comcast to buy a 100 channel package.
It will likely be on channel 114, go to that channel, and you will see a phone number to call, and you can order, and negotiate the payments and channels.

@TacoBadger1 in regards to Comcast...that just shows you how they screw you by making you get the next tier package...I bailed on them a couple of years ago and have Verizon FIOS and it kicks Comcast ass to bloody hell...BBC is included in the basic package channel 189...and I agree to give Matt a chance...not that vacant piece of rotting fish they are trying to manipulate us with...if I want sex I would watch something else not Dr. Who...

I've grown up with Doctor Who, mom was a great fan of that show, and it was hit on PBS years ago. I still say that David is best one because its the first Doctor Who that was mine, not one that I had to watch cause my mom made me. LOL! Yes David may have left the series on his own but it's really to say good bye to the familiar and welcome new. Like I said before I will check out the new show anyways.

@therealstandaman Mr Tennant was indeed amazing, at first I didn't really like him, Christopher although short lived was one of my favorites, David grew on me and eventually stole my heart as best doctor so far.

oh yeah, his species has the ability to regenerate whole new bodies (and personalities) when their old one gets worn out or severely damaged. Quite convenient as the series has been around since 1963 (longest running sci-fi series in history), Matt makes the 11th person to play the role.

There have been 10 Doctors so far who've been the best Doctor. All we've seen of Matt so far is the teeny little trailers. Wait for a couple actual episodes before you pass judgement.

Why are people being so negative? They've seen Matt only for a few minutes at the end of the New Year's special, the trailer, and now this teaser. I don't think that's quite enough to judge him as an actor. Who knows? Maybe he'll turn out to be better than David Tennant, and that's coming from someone who loves the Tenth Doctor.

excuse me i think tenant did a very good job and so did many others otherwise he wouldn't of had so many seasons. I agree with you though Christopher was amazing. It seems like there changing the way the show works though and i dont like the looks of it.
