  • I cannot grasp the true meaning of the video...

  • @sitien14 Nerd talk,lol

  • Fox:Stop trying to hug me

    Luigi:come to la luigi

    Fox:-kick-

  • Too bad this doesn't work with Olimar...I lost to a Donkey Kong because of this. I tried to grab him when he charged his f-smash. I grabbed him first but he still hit me and killed me.

  • Olimars down-b has super frames ^_^

  • That's nice to know. I'll remember that.

  • " they will receive no knockback from it but take the damage. "

That's exactly what a no flinch frame is.

  • Yes, that is what a no flinch frame is. The grabs themselves do not have no flinch frames in their durations however. BOTH characters don't flinch for just the 1st frame of any grab based move's HIT animation, which is quite different.

  • Oh, I think I grasped it. So basically they'd both get KBed, but the grab is already executing thus keeping them from flying away.

  • Yeah. Since it only happens on that 1st frame, it's probably a result of how they have things handled in the coding, and entering into the grab catch animation overrides the hitlag->knockback animation that they would have otherwise begun on that frame from the attack.

  • Lol?

  • ur a retard -_-

  • nice comeback lmao, you can do better than that

  • what does my life, or my comments have to do with this video? do I have a life? you serious? you're lil comment there made no sence with what i said about you're mom

  • umm ok stop replying

  • .......nice..

  • Once saved my life against a G&W's 9 hammer XD

  • frame 4, crotch grab

  • So Melee grabs have no-stun frames, or was it just for Marth? Why doesn't anyone tell me these things >_>

  • Don't pat attention to NatchWoofinlo. He's probably high.

  • Good job, except your terminology seems a bit off. Super Armor is simple when a character cannot be knocked back during a given number of frames, i.e., during Ike's Aether, or Olimar's Down B.

  • Yes, and people were under the false impression that during a few frames of grabs they could not be knocked back.

This video is to show that grabs do not have frames where they can't be knocked back, and when the grabber sometimes doesn't get knocked back after getting hit and takes damage it is just a result of the grab and attack trading hits and is not due to SA frames, though they LOOK the same in real time.

  • Oh yeah, I see what you meant. I was looking at it as these(I hate to say it) those "people." It was how you worded your description of this vid that caused me to question your use of the term. I would rewrite it.

You mentioned Brawl grabs not having armor frames, and how you it was just the attack and grab trading blows(with the grabber still taking damage). Offering Melee as a contrast to this(in which you don't take damage at all) led me to believe you thought Melee grabs had SA frames.

  • My question is if you connect with the grab and get hit by a third character at the same time, what happens?

  • Basically, on the exact frame someone connects a grab, both the grabber AND the one being grabbed won't take knockback from anything regardless of where it comes from.

It's probably to prevent something weird from happening from one of them being in hitlag or if the grab broke from knockback on that frame, since they're not actually 'holding' them in the grab yet and are pulling them in.

  • good job magus, this proves to a lot of people who keep saying that grabs have super armor :S

  • Magus, how did you get the sidebar with Consecutive Hits, DMG etc. on the right? Usually my screen ie empty on Training Mode.

  • It's one of the options near the bottom when you press start I think.

  • THANK GOD, I really thought grabs were stupidly gay if they worked like that. No wonder mindless Marth grabbing works in melee when my attack is fully out.

  • I never knew about this in the first place, but now that I do, it's quite interesting.

  • excellent work Magus! this is sure to alter the use of grabs against attacks in competitive play. 5*

  • once again magus being super awesome

  • thanks. nice job

  • Good research. Thanks a bunch.

  • might as well be super armor *shrug*

  • Except this is a bad thing for the person grabbing. It makes grabs slightly less effective than before.

People thinking they really had SA as the grab comes out were under the impression grabs were actually 'buffed' because of it.
