Training is very intense because you are being presented with a lot of information about the Train, Being a Train Operator, Rules and Regulations, Tests, Exams, Practicals, Working in Yards, Trouble Shooting etc. Training is like boot camp so to speak. No joke!
You are not driving a train so to speak you are moving the train and braking it along a track. You move the train via (L) the Master Controller and you are braking the train via (R) the Brake Valve. You are using your best judgement of allowable speed by manipulating the Master Controller and Brake Valve to adhere to the posted speed limits and track conditions as well as the many other wayside signs and signals.
Hi Tebrovski & Railking0123. Yep, it's an old R-17, but not in New York. It's the B.E.R.A. museum in Connecticut, where you can take a ride with them & if you become a member & volunteer to help repair these giant iron horses & their equipment.

It's an old R-17 which no longer runs in & above the New York City subways. They were either scrapped or turned into MTA work trains in 1994.
