thanks for a great video... i work on the door aswell and because im female alot of my friends and people kinda take the piss... i showed them this video... made them take me alot more seriously... made them think alot more.. many dont realise the danger many door staff are in every time they go to work.. so thank u..
@lafflaff1986. Hey Laff - thanks so much for taking the time to comment here, it's lovely to know that you actually benefited from watching my little movie - it's exactly what it was about - the reality of working the door... Thanks again and be safe.
how do you do those shots which you showed in the gym where the background seems to move further away yet the person in the foreground appears to get closer to the camera? really good film by the way =]
@squiddey4. Hey dude thanks for watching and posting. You do it by moving the camera forwards while zooming out, or moving it backwards while zooming in. Check out the movies Jaws, and La Haine to see a couple of good examples.
this is a good video i myself work the door i work 7 nights a week and after every shift i think about the the incidents that happend that night and belive its only a matter of time before i die on the door. i love this video and hope to see more :)
nice video would love to see more like it im a bouncer in sydney australia and yes when the lights go out even your friends change you cant trust no one its just you and the moment and you hope like hell you got the balls to fight or your security guards are going to back you
Hey nightgrappler - thanks for your kind words, glad we got the essence of the piece right. Please pass the link on to anyone you think might like it.
Hey tornado - I'm hoping you mean that we got the essence of working the door. Thanks for watching and commenting and please pass the link on to friends (and enemies!) Cheers mate.
@bigkurtis26 Hey kurtis - really appreciate these kinds of comments - it was written after doing some video work with a couple of doormen. Cheers for the comments.
Thanks Bos - I know Earl who played the Doorman feels the same way. I wanted to try to be honest to how it actually is - from talking to a few guys who have worked the door, and reading Geoff Thompson's book 'Watch my back'
Thanks mate. I am working on a couple more short scripts at the moment. I shot this on a sony Z1. All the others were on a canon XM2. Pretty basic camers both. I think as long as you have manual focus and you are careful you can produce nice looking video with a bit of grading.
Excellent little piece I liked it a lot. I believe the other comments have hit the nail on the head so I will not re-iterate anything. Earl Ling has definite prescence.
Not too bad indeed. Some strong filmic language at work here. What I really appreciate is the choice to cut away from violent action of the fight to engage viewers imagination rather than the standard fight sequence. Smart use of sound (a rarity is short films) to tell the off screen story of the drunkard.
Quality video proper lays it down how it is on the door, nice camera work and well put together very professional on the door aswell keep up the good work respects
I like how he showed him working out! If you don't do some kind of physical fitness working a door u r in trouble!

@tornadosteve1 Thanks for the comment dude - that was what i learned - it's a trade and one of the tools of the trade is physical ability.

Goosebumps.
Very deep indeed, in terms of literary art and imagery.
True art. I look forward to more work from you.
What type of camera do you use?
