  • Wow nice job!

  • ay bud how u make that transformers b line..??? which program is doing that...ableton or reason...

  • your bass drum is shit get a new one

  • Really well done man!

  • I don't think anyone can remake that epic snare.

  • Why the heck is the file removed for violation? It was a remake that you made yourself, correct? That doesn't make any sense.

  • @iZK12 I'm sorry I have no idea why it was removed, but whats done is done :'(

  • @Xreeds Hey dude try tuning the bass on the drop higher, cuz I was messing around with the original song and tuned it down a lot, and it sounded really similar to yours

  • I made a remake /cover

  • The vocals on this were so good I forgot this wasn't the actual song. Great job!

  • damnnnnnn please re up this ):

  • FILES REMOVED NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Dude PM Me New Link Please I'ma Partner.

  • @d74g0n What has being a partner got to do with anything, anyway, partnerships are literally handed out on street corners by YT.

P.S files are on old computer :( sorry.

  • What synths and effects do u use for the drop? Mai.ly for the bass and the high pitched string sound

  • download download!!! please!!

  • Where i can search tutorials for growls bass ?

  • skrillex would not use windows xp... good effort

  • @jakeakablack still good ...

  • awesome

  • Really great job man. May I ask how you managed to extract the accapella so well?

  • @SIRUS80 yeah its extraboy vst, its basically an extra powerful EQ that extracts and isolates vocal frequencies, great for making DIY acapellas.

  • @Xreeds thank you!

  • @SIRUS80 i don't call that a well extraction. its decent.

  • and they said a remake couldnt be done...how the fuck did you do that it sounds amazing!!

  • Your right, I didn't put any effort into it, think I spent about an hour and a half making it all but its closer than anyone else so until then, cheers

  • it sounds like you had a fun time with the EQ. zero effort put into this.

  • doesnt work one mine :(

  • LOL! YouTube even claims that this is REAL Skrillex! Haha Amazing job! <3

  • good "cover" i guess? :p

  • what plugins do i need? IT WONT WORK D:

  • Comment removed

  • i can't really find the patch he used at this moment but i know 100% sure he used a patch from reFX Nexus... I read it somewhere and i can really recognize this sound from somewhere

  • What vst did you use to open the .fxp patch?

  • Artist: Skrillex

    Well then its good enough!

  • I have to say, that you did a good job, but seriously... the growl sounds like someone making doo doo. i hope thats because this video was loaded in low quality. otherwise this is pretty much what me and my community refer to as 'claiming it'.

clearly you do not have the same sound as skrillex. sorry.

  • It's pretty dam good, but trust me guys, skrillex music is processed and mastered by sound professionals, he's not going to have the same sound punch, but the lead synth is pretty good mate!

  • I downloaded this project and put in my own drum beat, it's a lot more like the original I think!

  • @AteenagerAndDepressd upload it as a response I would like to hear your version of the drums :)

  • @Xreeds what plugins are needed for the bass drop and the lead synth... i downloaded it but it only shows the rythm

  • the patch is a bootleg from malleus is it not?

  • Back off the resonance and open up the filter on the cutoff and the growl would be pretty much exactly the same.

  • Lead is exactly on point! The rest is decent. I don't like the growls, though. Skrillex uses more of a neurofunk type of reese for his growls by the sound of it.

  • @rjisreal skrillex uses fm8. The lead is the exact same one that he used for the song. thanks :D

  • @Xreeds I heard people say that Skrillex explicitly said he used massive for this track. I don't know that is what I was told I have not seen concrete evidence for massive or FM8. I use FM8 though and I like it more than massive's "cool tricks"

  • @ApoC552 No.....he uses FM8 for his Growl basses and uses EQ8 in Ableton to make the vowels change. He also uses Massive but it isn't for his Growl basses at all. Search up Skrillex - FM8 ....that's what the song was called before it was called "Scary Monsters & Spirtes" it was "FM8"

Look up interview everywhere on google with Skrillex. He says he uses FM8/ Massive/ Gladiator/ Sylenth1/ Izotope Ozone/ Ohmnicide

  • @Xreeds what setting did he use in fm8? was it a preset?

  • at 1.12 that vocal, what sample is that?

  • Reason Rewired?

  • except for the drums, this is on point.

use live drum samples like with ezdrummer.

  • Lead synth is spot on. Nice one

  • lol this actually managed to sound worse than the original. There´s a lot more to electronic music than wobbles and silly samples.

  • @Sphereal What are you on about, skrillex' track is wobbles and silly samples, I just emulated them as best as I could with as little time possible.

  • @Xreeds I don't know why you wrote "lol this actually managed to sound worse than the original" either, how could you hope for me to make the track sound better than the original. Derp.

  • @Xreeds Some covers sound better than the originals, just saying.

Ok, now go remake Aphex Twin´s tunes ol

  • @Sphereal Bahahah ...your an idiot

  • @TheOfficialTrickster ahhh thanks!

  • You didnt seem to compress anything?

it would of made everything come together nicely,

but sick job man, i likee

  • what synth uses an fxp extension?

  • @gibsonguru15 Sylenth

  • this is fucking intense !!!

  • Does it matter which version of Ableton Live I open the project files in?

  • @FishTitan64 Yes you need 8.0.5 or higher.

  • filthy (y) thumbs up

  • Everything is great except for the low part of the drop

  • @futurerev21 yup i didn't sequence any sub bass in this remake, i only used harmonic distortion to create a kind of sub bass. Probably not enough :)

  • Hey Man can you please answer What is That elephant type of Synth

sound What did you use Is it the screech Sound Please RESPOND WHAT IS THE ELEPHANT SOUND PLEASE. :D

  • @PsycopathMasks Lolwat?

  • @Xreeds how did you make that sound that sound like an Elephant after the drop it

  • @PsycopathMasks Sorry I don't quite follow, if you want to have a look at the synths open up the project files which you can download in the description.

  • best one. sounds like the "growl" synth has too much echo like chorus

  • Not Bad. that took mad skills.

  • dude this is fuckin awsome

  • Fucking Epic F.p :D

  • HOLLY FUCK

  • thats a damn good remake man! :D

  • cant open the projects files =[

  • i want your simple's!!

  • shittttt, good job mate (:

  • hey man ! i use abelton 8.1 and this set will not open in it help thnx in advance !

  • @MrLeeski1 Thats wierd, because this set was created in Live 8.0.5 so it should work, make sure you are using a legit copy of ableton (i.e not pirated) because they often have faults in them.

  • how cant i use vst whilst usin reason rewired ???? helpppp !!!

  • @MrLeeski1 You open ableton then reason, drag an instance of 'external instrument' into arrangment view and select the input from reason, and the appropriate channel input (1/2 is mine) but yours could be 3/4 or 5/6 etc. Hope this helps

  • very nice dude! the first "boooow" was filthy but sounded rather distant but still closer than anyone else!

  • Totally insane, did skrillex sell you his project files or something? lol!!

  • This is incredible! Please do a tutorial ! (I liked your Facebook page ??? plz...)

Requesting more of your music vids too...

  • This is incredible! Please do a tutorial ! (I liked your Facebook page ??? plz...)

  • @AtotheKish Hello, what exactly do you need a tutorial for? If you want to analyse the synths, download the project files linked in the description, and have a look at the synths yourself :) I know that Malleus Dub has made a great tutorial for the growl synth in Reason if you have a look at it, and you can translate that into any Vst you want i.e Massive.

  • I'll Trade a snare for the growl bass (Serious) lol

  • close except the drum sound isnt even close.

  • @captainclayman I agree with you there, if you can find or make a better snare, i'd be stoked :)

  • @Xreeds I ripped the drums from the song, if you want me to send them to you, I can. They are legit. I ripped them from the song itself.

  • @captainclayman id like to hear your attempt at it, he never claimed the drums were perfect, this lead synth is as close as it gets to the original

  • can you upload the growl?

  • what are the names of those vst plug ins you use?

  • what synth do you need for the screech?

  • @88res Everything is explained in the video annotations and description box, just have a look before you ask, tanks.

  • @Xreeds

sorry about that... but apparently my sylenth doesn't recognize the .fxp file as a preset. Any idea why that is?

  • @88res Yes, you most likely don't have the latest version of Sylenth 1. Update it and it should work.

  • shit thats really close :O

  • thats crazy soo similar

  • You know a remake is good when youtube copyrights the video XD

  • this really goes to show how hard it is to create such a sound. yet theres still so many skrillex haters :p

  • oh hey skrillex...

  • hey how did you link ableton to reason? i have both but only use reason.

  • @AceTheIntrovertMusic Most DAW's have built in Rewire engine, just open your master DAW (mine was ableton), make a channel with an external instrument, and then select the input channel from reason.

  • hey man, so, if one wanted to open this in ableton to like reverse engineer it, what plugins would one need

  • @TheEpicDjGAMER Hello, there is a notepad in the project files that tells you what you need.

  • @Xreeds sorry must've missed it, thank you

  • Comment removed

  • hey there bro...nice remake....but can u teel me plz where u find the vocals????

    THX!!!!

  • @Gravely202 dude if you can make a closer sounnding bass to the original i would be amazed

  • please make a high quality one

  • @ZOOKAROOS My computer isn't good enough to make a high-quality screen/audio recording, if you want to hear it at its best quality download the project files in the description :)

  • @ZOOKAROOS im going to cry

  • Hey did you use Massive for the bass drop?

  • @HirachieOfSociety no, i used reason 4.0 if you look in the latter half of the video you can see i use subtractor and scream amps to create the growl sound.

  • hay man for reason i only get the 2nd Growl part and not the top first can u post another reason project file with it fixed please REALLY APPRECIATE IT :D

  • dude how the hell did you get so good on music software? i've just started trying to use it all and i have no clue at all on how to do any of it. any tips lol?

  • @knowwhatimean92 : Thanks dude, I just kept at it, covering songs by artists is a fantastic way to learn, reading up on synthesis, and finding a vst synth plugin you are very comfortable with are all good things to take up. There are thousands of tutorials all over the web on how to use a DAW but you'll find the best way is to just jump straight in a start making a beat straight away, don't be overly ambitious right from the start and you'll start to progress straight away.

  • OMFG.....YOU ARE SKRILLEX??? filth as fuck dude =D

  • @FreestylePortLive As a matter of fact, My Name Is Skrillex

  • Comment removed

  • what synth are you using for the intro?

  • @sk8r8ks Sylenth, get my patch in the description.

  • @Xreeds would i be able to plug that into logic express? or is it only for ableton?

  • @sk8r8ks: If you're talking about reason, the rewire engine is compatable with logic, google some tutorials on how to set it up :) good luck

  • you, sir, are good.

  • Hey man. great work! sounds just like the original!

is there any way you could upload a screech tutorial? for some reason i cant download your patches from mediafire, and learning how to create this sound would be awesome.

  • OMFG orgasm ... very,very H A R D ... :D

  • yep. i have to get reason.

  • This is really amazing. So far I've been able to recreate everything but the growl (lol, who ever could?) and the screech. I don't own Sylenth but am pretty familiar with it's workings, could you send me a screenshot of your patch so I could work it out in Reason?

  • @MorrockW You can download the reason file itself, its in the description :)

  • @Xreeds Cool, but that still won't help me as far as the Sylenth goes XD

  • @MorrockW Look a bit further back in the comments I described the screech sound earlier good luck :)

  • Seriously great job man! I'm trying to make dubstep me too and I got Fl studio and no one ever got even close to where you got so I think that with the file you share in the description, I will change to Ableton :)

  • @poirepoire22 Good to hear you like my remake, but sincerely, don't make your decision on what daw to choose based on this remake. Fl is a great flexible program that is very powerful, imo the UI is a bit cluttered and ableton has a nicer workflow and is awesome for live performance, but anyway just try both before you fully make your mind up.

  • the growl synth is a little off but no one ive seen or heard has replicated it perfectly... but the syren synth was fuckin DEAD on hahah (high-pitch synth after growl)

  • Sex

  • not the lead synth but the part after the bass :)

  • @MrMetalman555666 Basically you get around 4 oscs, 3 with saw waves and one with white noise. Detune all three differently, change phases, whatever just to make it sound as brittle, spacious and gnarly. Then add some distortion, bitcrush on a return effect and affect the cutoff envelope using the effects envelope at the bottom left, with short decay for punch and high sustain. Finally pitch bend last with LFO or manually. Use a saw wave for your lfo and make it high speed.

  • hey man could u possibly make a text tutorial on how to get that screech noise? my sylenth is goin crazy and its unusable. thx if you can dude itd be a big help :) sick patch dude

  • im REALLY amazed by this - and yeah, in response to your comment on my track, lets do a collab!

  • @tuFFz123 : YAY! Ill send you a project file to your soundcloud inbox, have you added me yet?

  • If you did a low cut at 50-70 hertz this would sound PERFECT!

  • Sick bro!

  • Wow very good job with this. This is the best skrillex remake I have seen by far. Amazing you even did the dubstep part. Most people don't even attempt that.

  • @SnowOkamiZ Thanks :D

  • @SnowOkamiZ The whole song is the dubstep part...

  • Nice man :L

  • You guys are all prick, why don't you get a guitar and drum kit and bass. "it takes too long too learn right?" I hate the fact that everyone pats them selves on the back, for using soft synths and an editor. So shut the hell up, not anyone of us are breaking any ground here.

  • @frostedhead If you think its soo easy lets see you drop a talking bassline.

  • @frostedhead Almost anybody who says something along this lines I ask to tell me the ins and out of a single oscillator with a simple ASDR and a mini effects unit built in the soft synth... None of them can tell me without going to google to look it up.. By then they realize that a LOT of the shiny buttons, knobs, and sliders on the soft synth are a lot more complicated and harder to understand than learning to play an instrument. Im a music major.. I would know..

  • hey could you PLEASE send me that screech synth you're the only one who actually has it. my email is jack@netbug.us or maybe you could just put it on mediafire

  • @thecompans: sure dude :) ill upload it now to mediafire

  • @thecompans: Look in description for sylenth1patch link :) Took very little time to make, surprised no one figured this one out :D

  • @Xreeds yes actually right after i posted that comment i went into massive and did it myself in like 2 min but i guess ill see if yours is better.

  • sweet man

  • Read description for Project Files

  • Are u gonna upload the project file

  • That's not your growl patch, sir. Malleusdub did that, and released his patches as a thank you for the subscribers. Not only did you copy his patch, but you copied his method of releasing the patches. Shame.

  • @2ndGenJackass incorrect i followed the tutorial and made my own synth from scratch and tweaked it to my own liking..

  • @Xreeds Furthermore I have used Reason4.0 and I am very comfortable with its synthesis, if you listened a bit more you'd see that malleus did a better job than i did because when applying scream distortion i somehow cancelled out the lower end of the bass. I sir am offended

  • i think its pretty good fuck the hater comments! i wanna see u make some better then this and then talk

  • this probably close to one of the best recreations of the songs bass and the synth that bends up during the chorus is spot on, is it possible to recreate the dub growl with massive and lots of processing?

  • @zaboyification Yes, whilst skrillex uses resampling, you can get this effect with Massive's formant filter 'scream' and formant wave, I think its called 'modern talking' plus use a scream filter, and alot of amp emulation/distortion, do not use bitcrushing as others suggest but a dedicated distortion unit; (I used Reason's 'Scream'). You also have to automate the wt position of the vocal synth while you pitch bend to get the growl.

  • @CosmoandPaat thanks man, also i read somewhere that skrillex specifically used fm8 to get the growl sound

  • It sounds like the real song, but put a speaker thats playing the original in a cardboard box, build a wooden box around that box, then pour cement all over the wooden box, and throw that cement box into the ocean. and youll have this, lol the basses sound spot on actually, but just like that ^

  • @CVholik Yeah shitty recording program plus i suck at youtube

  • @CosmoandPaat are you talking about screen recorder? Cause ableton is a great DAW

  • @CVholik Yes, the screen recorder is awfull and only exported audio to 160kbps and a fps of 15 i think. Ableton is perhaps the best DAW i've worked with.

  • @CosmoandPaat oh i see, are you on dubstep forum? do you make much dubstep?

  • @CVholik No, we rarely make dubstep, althought we might start just because of its current popular appeal. You can look at our stuff on @soundcloud(dot)com/cosmoandpaat

  • @StonedBlackOps how so id say its synths are pretty similar and the melody, bass has been copied perfectly....??????

  • @Xreeds I'd say the melody synth is pretty darn close! Overall the sound needs work, but that synth is impressive :O
