Laughing gas is not such a good laugh after all then! I've seen similar happen on a street BMW running on ordinary gasoline (since they banned lead valve trouble can occur) One burnt inlet valve caused the intake system to explode - it was plastic and contained the mass flow sensor. About $600 just for the shattered part and the valve still needed doing (head job - duh!) Diesel is more reliable.
