alexander was probally one of the best summonings they made due too the fact that if you summed him he would blast you with millons of star light blasts and give you 999999999 def plus if he died he would crush his enemys in the process
i abandon the game when i reach 4th disc, so what the heck is that eye, i know it destroyed the island of summoners too, is it some kind of anti summon weapon?

I really loved this game, a lot of fond memories go hand and hand with it. Although (don't hate me) I just really despised the whole sprite-ifying all the characters. Giant heads, hands, feet and silly looking monsters (well some). How could it go from FF8 to this, to FF10? I guess they just had to mix it up I suppose. Love the game though!

What exactly IS Alexander anyways? I know he's supposed to be some sort of celestial creature since his attack is 'HOLY Judgment' and all, and the fact that he as given those wings also confirms that in my mind but why is he a machine? Is he living enchanted castle of some kind? IDK it's just weird...
Alexander is not the castle of Alexandria. He is clearly behind it; he's protecting it. In order to summon him in Final Fantasy IX, you must have all of (his) gem fragments. Eiko and Sarah managed to summon him due to that reason. He appears to be a mechanical creature like Doomtrain from Final Fantasy VIII.
Bahamut is the greatest! He went out swinging! @ 2:19 he punches on of the lasers that chases him! By the way, this version of him has no eyes and he still handled his business!
FF8 wasn't a bad game, nice graphics(for the time)and an excellent story. I think it's problem was that it was just far to easy. By the end of the game Squall was the highest at lvl 15! FF9 does feel a little childlike but it's mean't too. (I also love Tetra Master on this) I guess they both have their ups and downs but I love this game just as much as 6,7 and 8.

This was the best FMV in what was ultimately a disappointing game. Having been utterly blown away by VII and VIII, IX just couldn't avoid being a disappointment. I spent alot of time on it, defeated Ozma etc, but just left the whole experience feeling quite empty. It just felt very child-like compared to the previous 2 incarnations.

The funny thing about this scene is that Alexander (as a dragon) was Bahamut's rival in Bahamut Lagoon, and also the final boss. And I can't quite remember properly, but I THINK Alexander killed Bahamut before the game even started. Or kicked him out of the dragon world or something.
If Square Enix remade 7, 8, and 9, I hope they stick with the prerendered backgrounds but much more enhanced, I would hate to play 7, 8 and 9 if it was all 3D.
Final Fantasy 13 spoiler sort of... I was originally hoping Bahamut for Hope's summon... But when he got Alexander I flashbacked to these scenes and was like "Alexander is even better."
I definitely think they should remake the whole game with better gameplay graphics and enhance the amv's graphics as well and put it on the ps3. That would be amazing.
@Gouimes because the sphere grid takes such a RIDICULOUS time to fill up plus Tidus is a whiny little girl and then it turns out he doesn't even really exist anymore. I remember playing for 30+ hours and only being able to fill up like 7% of the damn sphere grind. I knew one guy and it took him 220 hours just to fill up a single sphere grid. Maybe I did something wrong. going to replay it just to give it a second chance.
@LovesMassEffect Just about grinding in the right areas. I remember working on my Tidus for such a long time in the Omega Ruins. To beat Penance you basically have to max everyone out, clear the sphere grid and boost up their stats, best weapons, best overdrives etc.... Not really worth it tbh. It's not as satisfying as beating even Ozma in IX or Omega Weapon in VIII, even though it requires so much more work to do....
Garnet's queen for like an evening, then ickle Bahamut comes along to spoil the party... how does Garnet respond? by summoning a giant mechanical gorilla with wings :D

This scene was the most touching for me. R.I.P Alexander. This is where the plot starts to thicken and where garnett's feelings towards zidane become stronger.

The evil eye in the sky was a edilon (Or however your spell it) Garland forged into his airship do immobilize any other edilion, its name was deathgaze. After the incident in Terra , deathgaze was banished.

i dont think the necklace is part of the sword, thats just a platform to summon him from, but the necklace from lindblum and alexandria along with the earings and cleyras stone that caused the sandstorm, where once one massive gem that was broken apart when the summoners couldnt control alexander because he was too strong and destroyed alexandria, causing the summoners mainly to abandon alexandria and start again on the forgotten continent, so far as i can figure at any rate :)
Thanks, my PS2 is being a bitch and won't play PS1 games anymore, so I have to use my ancient PS, which is also being a bitch and refuses to play the cutscenes in FF9 properly, and I know it's not completely the disc's fault because they're virtually flawless.
He's an Eidolon, and he's like Leviathan...the original summoners didn't do it right, so they sealed it away, until Garnet and Eiko were able to summon him successfully.

I was really rooting for FF9, but the story never sucked me in once. I still can't remember a darn thing about the characters or what was supposed to be going on.
Like at the end of this sequence, Alexandria gets blown up. I thought it was gone for good. But later in the game, you revisit it and it's pretty much the same. Whereas, in FFVII, Sector 7 gets destroyed, and you NEVER get to go back. Now that meant something, and was memorable.
ah well can't please everybody, it's a real shame you didnt like it dude, maybe you should revisit it. It remains as my 2nd fave to final fantasy 6, its just so classic, plus in my opinion vivi is the best final fantasy character EVER. The ending just put tears in my eyes.

I thought it was dumb how bad Alexander gets punked. Garland's not even a cool enough character to kill him. Just like how Seifer kills Odin in FFVIII, that was gay too. Yeah right.

This scene was the most touching for me. R.I.P Alexander. This is where the plot starts to thicken and where garnett's feelings towards zidane become stronger.

Didn't really like this game much but the CGI's were my favorites.

how the hell did the summon of alexander end up as a castle? the crystal in the castle is a sword which represents him but heres what i dont understand too..how did he end up in alexandria when its from a totally different continent from the summoners tribe?

The evil eye in the sky was a edilon (Or however your spell it) Garland forged into his airship do immobilize any other edilion, its name was deathgaze. After the incident in Terra , deathgaze was banished.

so is the necklace with garnet actually a part of the giant sword of alexandria castle?
and actually,if this whole summoning is to summon the whole castle,it would be too much even for eiko and garnet both together(since it totally kicks ass) so the major item to summon alexander was that sword of alexandria castle,but it went berzerk and killed the alexander
and also,i dont think im actually wrong......since i think holy is atleast 80 mp to cast right? 80 times the number of feathers.....

The two stones that Eiko and Garnet have are the key to Alexander. Alexanders power is so great it needs the power of two summoners to call him.

i dont think the necklace is part of the sword, thats just a platform to summon him from, but the necklace from lindblum and alexandria along with the earings and cleyras stone that caused the sandstorm, where once one massive gem that was broken apart when the summoners couldnt control alexander because he was too strong and destroyed alexandria, causing the summoners mainly to abandon alexandria and start again on the forgotten continent, so far as i can figure at any rate :)

Thanks, my PS2 is being a bitch and won't play PS1 games anymore, so I have to use my ancient PS, which is also being a bitch and refuses to play the cutscenes in FF9 properly, and I know it's not completely the disc's fault because they're virtually flawless.

He's an Eidolon, and he's like Leviathan...the original summoners didn't do it right, so they sealed it away, until Garnet and Eiko were able to summon him successfully.

I was really rooting for FF9, but the story never sucked me in once. I still can't remember a darn thing about the characters or what was supposed to be going on.
Like at the end of this sequence, Alexandria gets blown up. I thought it was gone for good. But later in the game, you revisit it and it's pretty much the same. Whereas, in FFVII, Sector 7 gets destroyed, and you NEVER get to go back. Now that meant something, and was memorable.

ah well can't please everybody, it's a real shame you didnt like it dude, maybe you should revisit it. It remains as my 2nd fave to final fantasy 6, its just so classic, plus in my opinion vivi is the best final fantasy character EVER. The ending just put tears in my eyes.
