Yes I can say he wasn't black. If he was born into the Jewish community and the Jews are God's chosen people; it stands to reason that He was Jewish. Pt.2 Lastly, you talk about black racial rhetoric as psychological protection against white oppression. Again, much of the white racism has been eradicated. There are still racists, but with Affirmative Action and the societal philosophy in general, racism is far subdued compared to past days. And also again, two wrongs don't make a right. If you listen to the entire speech where he says God damn America for example you will see that he says sometimes Governments do good and sometimes they do wrong. kswing: The last time I visited Trinity in Chicago I enjoyed hearing Rev Moss. He's done a yeoman's job; difficult for any new pastor. But his successful handling of THIS legacy of THIS church at THIS time is truly blessed. He's a good one!
He is a different man than Rev. Wright, but thoroughly capable; & Trinity is in good hands--GOD's!
Several other whites were there--from Denmark I think--& they thoroughly enjoyed the peace & presence of the Lord there, too. What a joyful service!

kswing: Apparently, there are several services available on Sundays and throughout the week. Between Rev Moss and some of the other phenomenol preachers that have spoken there (several from the denominational hierarchy, which as you know is predominantly white -- but that's neither here nor there), you're bound to have a spiritual feast whenever you do manage to go. I'm hoping to get there again soon, myself!

Despite your opinions, this church teaches about God's love and reconciliation. But as you see: disrespect begets disrespect. Muzic: I'm not a member of Trinity, but I've visited several times over the years. For the last several decades they've had some powerful preaching, and folks are examining their lives, yielding themselves to God and makng great changes in their lives. The new minister is also a blessing from God. I can't imagine a young minister beginning a new ministry under these conditions. But the Lord has blessed this congregation mightily over the years, and is still doing so. Keep them in your prayers!

One can't reason with someone who believes in a talking serpent. I percieve only hate and animosity in the congregation, even if it is wrong that's the perception. I can't quote Obama, but I can quote Wright on several issues. Does'nt matter if it was out of context; FOX lied; did I hear the whole sermon; past injustice etc., it's perception of a hate monger voters will take into the voting booth. I have seen the whole sermon and no it has not changed my perception - you cant polish a turd...

White supremacy is measured all the time. Controlling for education, whites out earn every ethnic group in the US. They get more lenient sentences as first time offenders of the same crime as blacks and Latinos. Controlling for credit ratings and income, people of color are more likely to be denied home loans. Job applicants with "white" names are 50% more likely to get call-backs for interviews than those with "black" names and identical resumes. This is WITH affirmative action. Past, my ass.

It's naive to assume that no one has done any investigation on Rev. Wright. Some of us HAVE checked him out. I've listened to his sermons. It's a shame he has to preach hate instead of love. He's an influential man and could really have done some good. He's too concerned about his EGO and his CHECKBOOK. He's just one more TV preacher getting rich off the poor. Any church that roots itself in black liberation theology will just get itself into deeper trouble as we get beyond sound bites. They'd be better off trying to heal Africa with American ideals involving individual rights and capitalist free markets rather than group rights and neo Marxist servitude that has brought slavery and genocide to the African continent throughout history.
