I just bought an '82 Coleman Jamestown-1 wing bed-its 840lbs, with sink etc.
I pull it with my Toyota Matrix xrs..tow rate 1500lbs total with passengers, dogs etc. I hope I can crank it and slide the door in myself-or else I'll have to ask/pay a near by kind camper person to help me. A lot of fun to camp.
Dude, love your f'n trailer. Just picked up a 1976 Coleman Valley Forge that is great shape after putting a little work into it. The lift cable snapped the first day so I jimmy rig new cables in. I'm going to post mine in the spring...pretty much identical to yours.
We have a new to us 1985 Coleman. I really enjoyed your video! We've learned that it helps putting the door on if you level the camper. How much did you get for your camper?
I think the jacks are supposed to be set before you crank it up.
You said to set the bed end supports before you but any weight on the bed, yet you were on the bed setting the bar that holds the canvas up before you connected the bed end supports.
lol, just giving you a hard time. I love the camper, but I used to hate setting up those canvas pop-ups.

We just got back into camping and found a 1980 Coleman similiar to this one and it was very helpful. Good job on making this training tool!

Why did you switch cranking position to the lower crank?

@soldbyorion
I don't remember now, I think maybe it was slipping.

Yes, you passed the test, I just did that to see if you were paying attention...
How's that go, ""do as I say, not as I do"?
;)

Shit...there must be a load of PO people with 1979 tent trailers.
What can they possibly be worth...like 50 bucks or so? Is there a 8 track in there with a b&w tv?
And the canvass looks like pre-war era stuff. It must have a pretty bad smell.
Not quite the "Four Seasons" hotel type hey?
My God what a TON of work that thing is...your sweating like a pig putting this thing up...and your out of breath....go get yourself a cold beer.
