  • Apparently the reason this wasnt included in brawl was because the creator wanted to nerf diddy kong, im not sure if its true though

  • Seriously, how did this turn into a Melee Vs Brawl war?

  • Thanks for a good explanation on this. It's been a long time since I've played melee, was always curious how this works, I've done it before on accident, just having knowledge of other games with cancels. Should help my ganon game out immensely. Might be good for my young link game too, we'll see lol.

  • Wavedashing is stupid.

  • ganondorf sound like hes choking on a dick

  • 00:50 that's what she said

  • i under stand about what makes ssbm more better gameplay, but brawl has a better story , grahics, and concept period, but wave dashing and l canceling are not needed, we just need side steps and air recovory like in brawl, but it would be nice to have iot back though.

  • @hamburgermeat1818 Brawl's story is an incoherent mess.

  • @DayLaMike And how? It different then other story"s but most certainly not a mess, very unique and enjoyable, how is it a incoherent mess?

  • @hamburgermeat1818 Nothing is explained. Who's Taboo? Why is he setting off black hole bombs everywhere? What does he gain by having all these "worlds" surrounding him? Since when did ganon work for master hand? Why does he want to turn everyone into trophies? What is Taboo's motive for doing all this in the first place?

Almost nothing is explained during the course of this "story" and things just happen. Therefore Brawl's "story" is incoherent. SSB doesn't need a story anyway.

  • @DayLaMike Nice, you have proved me wrong on that, however, its cool how everyone goes through these dangerous adventures to meet up in the end to fix the cause, although unexplained, that might not be the point, maybe the point is to show how all the Nintendo characters can work together to end all the chaos, any more points?

  • people should really stop complaining about this stuff being removed from brawl, i grew up playing melee, but just because they removed wavedashing which wasn't supposed to be used anyway isn't enough of a reason to say that brawl sucks, honestly, infinite air dodges? i don't think i've ever seen anyone ever need to use more than one of them anyway, but then again, thats just my opinion, personally, i prefer brawl

  • @icemanx5746 wasn't meant to be used? what do you mean by that?

  • @SparkSSBM what i meant is it was an exploit, they never wanted anybody to actually use it, thats why they removed it from brawl

  • @icemanx5746 no they removed it from brawl for the same reason they removed l canceling. to make it non-competitive.

also i would hardly call it an exploit. see: /watch?v=AjjVqqbCLfw&feature=related

  • @SparkSSBM well thats kinda my point, i never considered ANY smash bros game to be a successful competitive fighting game, if you want to play seriously, then go play street fighter, or mortal kombat. i play melee and brawl for the lulz, i love watching people (including myself) fail at it, all im saying is JUST because 2 techniques were removed isn't enough to say brawl sucks

  • @icemanx5746 *if you want to play seriously then go play street fighter or mortal combat* why do you say that?

also i dont like brawl because its so floaty and the gameplay (at a high level) is so reliant on camping

  • @SparkSSBM i say that because those are hardcore REAL fighting games, smashbros is just kinda there when you want to play an easier game that will make you laugh, i'll admit, brawl IS quite a bit flotier than melee, but that doesn't bother me because i don't take it to be a serious fighting game, as for relying on camping... i have absolutely NO idea what your talking about, i like both games, i just prefer brawl because theres more variety with the gameplay but again, thats just my opinion

  • @icemanx5746 lol melee with one of the steepest learning curves out of any fighting game is easy?

  • @SparkSSBM steepest learning curves? what? l canceling isn't that hard to do, and wavedashing isn't enough to say that it had a steep learning curve, any fighting game made by capcom has a MUCH higher learning curve than smash bros. i have my opinion you have yours if you don't agree with me than shut up and don't bash my opinion.

  • @icemanx5746 when did i bash your opinion? also how do you know that. have you played melee at a competetive level? no? then how could you judge its learning curve?

  • @SparkSSBM while it IS true that i have not played melee on a competitive level, i DO know that it DOES have a high learning curve, i'm just saying that it doesn't have the HIGHEST learning curve, if you like melee better, than thats fine, i respect your opinion, and i understand where you are coming from, however, i don't play smash bros seriously, i play street fighter seriously, i play smash bros as more of a party game, and brawl works alot better as a casual party game than melee.

  • @MisterN617 from actually taking classes on game design theory, it's not a glitch, it's an exploit. It's not accounted for and game design theory says, if it didn't get put into later versions of the game, it was fixed, because it was a bug/problem. i.e. it didn't appear in brawl, so it was most likely an exploit. and if you disagree with that piece of logic, then it was designed not to be in brawl because it was a bad implementation in one of the previous games.

  • @MisterN617 They are actually the just because if its in the physics engine does not a glitch by definition. Not all physics in games are perfect. It doesn't matter if they're glitches "in your book" well of course its my opinion just like you say its not a glitch in your opinion. Your taking these glitches way to seriously, explain in his interview whats wavedashing he didn't even in the slightest mention the word wave or dashing in it. Its a fraud dude.

  • @MisterN617 but at least there is project m for you, hell if the next smash bros and if it has these techniques then I'd probably admit I was wrong but Its still glitches in my book.

  • @MisterN617 There was no valid source for that interview. Usually when someone posts an article on nintendo power they'd include a picture. It came off from a user in IGN and if it was official it would have been more known.

  • Comment removed

  • @MisterN617 "How was it stupid, I have yet heard or someone who said "Z canceling (later L canceling) was mention on SSB64's official website." I suppose DACUS(for example) is also on brawls website. The only "technique" was mention was wavedashing by sakurai. But in his interview about wavedashing, it sounds like he doesn't even know what wavedashing is. But to be honest I never saw a true source about that interview and coincidentally the earliest that was posted was a day before april fools.

  • But I can understand for them not liking brawl because its too slow or campy but when they mention it not having wave-dashing or l- canceling now that's just bs of course there going to get rid of those things, they are glitches exploited of melees poor programming.*not saying it is but it is apart of the flaws.

  • Smash doesn't even have true combos, if they did wombo combo in training mode, the game wouldn't even read it as a combo or any other melee "combo" videos on youtube. Glitches are usually unintentional, people be hating on brawl because they can't stand the fact to play the game normally. All these "techniques" are found and not given. Much like GLITCHES are HRMMMMM.

  • um thats all,it just reduces damage given to the other player and making you do a combo even though using different, what the crap.

  • Does L-cancel only work while hitting the target?

  • @BikouTenma no you can do it without hitting your target. its especially needed when you whiff your attacks and miss. its gives you a couple more fractions of a second to react to your own mistake. although you'll probably still get punished for missing if your opponent is decent.

  • i like all the smash games. They all feel different to me. melee is more technical but i have the most fun with brawl

  • Could someone tell me the music plz?

  • @jb08045 Sounds like a remix from Zelda, maybe four swords or so, its floating around youtube maybe.

  • SSB sux

  • Comment removed

  • @ggxxslash no sir

  • @Daarkrei

    Yes indeed

  • i rly dont get y l-cancelling is so much needed..it makes the slow characters tht are suppose to be slow a tiny bit faster, and glitches/cheats with the character...i dont find tht competitive..just cheap i played melee competitively just fine without l-cancelling.

  • Couldn't you just quick fall while doing your damn attack?

  • The difference? I don't see it

  • @kikook222 lol.....

  • @ZxWAKAxZ I only see Browsers being faster...let alone I did notice that in the first portion with Star Fox he did less damage when using L Canceling.

  • That song...it sounds so familiar, WHAT IS IT?!?!

  • @ShadowofaHedgehog13 zelda wind waker

  • is l canceling that thing you do when you sorta make urself land faster/better ? i know all these twchinques but not what the internetz call em lol

  • it's getting awfully fanboy in here...

  • @Yreath It really is. Favouritism is in the air

  • Well, at least I now know what L-canceling is......it seems easier to do than wavedashing. Wow, I really need to get SSBM somehow. I only have SSBB. I like Melee better. (mostly b/c I'm better at it.)

  • i could have posted the exact same comment.i need ssbm

  • it drastically cuts the lag some characters experience after landing. especially important wit slow chars like boozer or gdorf, who have epic lag on their moves

  • L canceling on faster characters doesn't really seem worth learning.

  • Comment removed

  • i think removing the L-cancel was a good thing. it adds more realism. i really dont understand what it does anyway but who cares. melee is a great game, brawl is a great game and the original is a great game.

  • I dont see how it can add more realism.

  • i dunno, just seems kinda dumb tho. whats the point of getting combos?

  • Well it's not just for getting combos, it's to increase speed. When you land and l-cancel you recover faster which why the combo shows up i think because you land and attack again before it's no longer considered a combo.

  • @70sJEBUS combos mean you own.when you own your hardcore. when your hardcore your badass.

  • Good thing? It was one of the things that contributed to the fact that their is no REAL combo's in Brawl, along with the fact that there is less hitstun and unlimited airdodging.

  • but with the heavier characters, there supposed to be slow getting up and stuff. Thats part of there character design. So its kinda cheating or glitching. but w/e i dont wanna argue about something so stupid

  • FWI, L-Cancelling was put there on purpose, because it was on SSB64, and reduced lag 100%. They did change it in SSBM however, to 50% reduction, obviously showcasing their awareness to L-Cancelling.

  • no it's called strategy

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH i cant do that o.o

  • Whatever, i both like brawl and melee fuck you guys.

  • fucking straight man lol

  • It is bland the graphics the glitchy gameplay the bland adventure mode" nejibya actually cares about adventure mode lmfao. ive never seen anybody actually say something about melees bad adventure mode....who gives a fuck, ive never actually heard a brawl fanboy actually try to say their game has a better adventure mode as a comeback, you fail. just like your game

  • you need "Skill" to do these "Glitches" successfully

  • Um no you dont. Wavedashing and L cancelling can be mastered very easily. I can Wavedash L cancel and shffl and all that GLITCHY unbalanced crap. And it took a VERY short period of time to master. So yeah >_>

  • thats because ur M2K's brother lol

  • Please stop assuming because one i dont have a brother and 2 I dont know who M2K is and i could really give 2 fucks who he is so please stfu. I already made my point and i stand by it.

  • dude calm down, dont have a b***h fit lulz its just a game if melee is so unbalanced then just go to brawl were everyone has the same skill level :)

    kthxbai

  • You actually made me laugh when u said Melee was bland, how in the world is Melee bland wow.. just wow.

IMO Melee has faster and more aggressive gameplay and makes u a better player competitively. Due to Brawls infinite air dodges and like zero hitlag time u dont really get punished as much as u would in melee for your mistakes. TBH Brawl is starting to feel like easy mode lol

But hey thts just my opinion so meh. but i say this now i WILL stand by my point.

  • It is bland the graphics the glitchy gameplay the bland adventure mode and the overall game experience. And btw id rather have infinite air dashes then one that just gets me raped if i get hit if i dont dodge at the pinpoint exact time and even then if i actually dodge the hit is iffy. and that punishment comment just proved my point. and i hope you play other people while playin brawl becausee if its as easy as you say it is im obviously wasting my time talking to you.

  • I have played many ppl from friends to alot of Semi Pro/Pro members on SWF (on a PLAY 2 WIN competitive level)

  • Old but just to let you know.

Brawl is also glitchy and SSE is a fucking chore.

  • Finally, someone else who agrees that SSE was a chore to play.

  • Go to see Link`s Izaw video when u can beat Izaw I will accept that Brawl is Crap.

  • careface :( i dont even care anymore ...fact is melee has more punishment and imo i feel its better "to each his own" my friend you cant force me to like something i dont and viceversa

    have a good day sir.

  • Haha nice :D

    Izaw's Link is god :P

I'm glad someone recognizes him xD

I also like Rebaz's Captain Falcon.

    TIERS ARE FOR QUEERS =D

  • OMFG!

    1. L-canceling and Wavedashing AREN'T GLITCHES! And even if they were, WHAT DOES IT MATTER?

    2. They brought balance to the game by buffing lower tiers with more options. Upper tiers got better too, but they were already raping so ATs helped.

    3. Applying these in battle right takes skill. Dismissing them as "cheap" makes you look like an ignorant scrub.

And Brawl is not more balanced then Melee. They're about even now and Brawl (balance wise) is just getting worst as time goes on.

  • omg dude u posted what i was gna say but you hit the nail on the coffin i agree with all tht u said

  • Heh. I just can't stand it when people who make misinformed statements about Melee. If a person like Brawl more thats fine, but don't spread ignorant lies about Melee.

Though it is a fact (not just an opinion) that Melee has a better punishment game.

  • I thought wavedashing was a glitch. I know L-cancelling isn't anyway.

  • 1. It's part of the programming (Directional air-dodge into the ground causes a slide similar to being slammed into the ground at an angle).

    2. Sakurai in an interview back in April said they knew about wavedashing during Melee's development, but changed the air-dodge mechanic for Brawl (which left wavedashing impossible to do) because those who could wavedash had an advantage over those who couldn't. Basically, Sakurai didn't want people to be better then other people.

  • Wow, dumb move on his part. Wavedashing, L-cancelling, and hitstun should all return in SSB4, which'll hopefully made by anyone but Sakurai.

  • Yes. That's a GREAT idea. Lte's NOT have a game by Sakurai. He removed wavedashing, meaning he is SUCH a BAD person. Damn you, sakurai, for removing such an AWESOME overused technique that was banned anyway. ¬¬ Seriously, it's not that big of a deal.

  • When the hell was Wavedashing banned? Are you high?

Sakurai believes hardcore gamers ruin Smash for casuals even though that's clearly false (hardcores are the freakin minority). He added tripping just to further screw with non-casuals. A guy who would design a game to troll a minority group is not someone I want working on Smash.

  • Well, they do.

Like seriously, If I'm knew to the game, I wouldn't exactly like someone whooping my ass with cheap techniques, AND I wouldn't like having to learn stupid shit just to fucking play with others.

  • If you don't like hardcore gamers, don't play with them. It's that simple.

Why is it good to ruin THEIR fun of mastering deep and complex techniques? No one forces you to play with them or learn their techniques. Just keep playing with your fellow casuals.

  • Agreed. When I was just a young lad and this game came out 9best christmas of my life hahaha) I used to think I was a hardcore gamer and I was so sweet at this game until I started playing with my friend who could WD and such and I mean it just adds depth to the game, it was likea whole new realm. If youre new at the game...play it..then you won't be woo hoo. Then you can sit down for 5 minutes press X-L -> and OMG youre hardcore

  • @DryBones1217 but didnt he make all the other ones too?

  • @DryBones1217

there wouldnt BE a smash bro if it wasent for sakurai, watch wht u say

  • @lylatfox4 he said he hopes it not made by sakurai because sakurai said if he does make a SSB4 it will be nothing like melee. and how is L canceling *cheap* as you put it if it *only makes slow characters a little bit faster*

also if you played competitively as you say without these *glitches* and you did fine then what exactly are you calling *cheap*

  • @DryBones1217 they removed that because of the online feature, the figured that there were gonna be ALOT of casual players, plus it was made for the wii, which was made for casual players anyways

  • @DryBones1217 you shouldn't have done that.

no serisously, thats fucked up, you want someone else besides the guy who made awesomness, to destroy awesomness?

  • @kekon3 he said he hopes it'll be more melee orientated and sakurai said if he makes any further smash games they will be anti competitive like brawl was made out to be.

  • @DryBones1217 They were glitches in the first place. You want them to program glitches into SSB4? That is not possible by definition of a glitch. Moron..

  • I used to play this game alot, but I quit for awhile.. now Im starting to play again, but I never learned how to do this.

How much practice does it take to get L-canceling down?

  • I don't need L-Canceling. Marth's Air moves are fast enough.

  • That song... Isn't that from Zelda?

    Where'd you get it?

I'm pretty sure its the Darkworld Overworld Theme.

  • como se llama el audio de tu video

  • thx

  • wow bowser is so slow.

    WOW BOWSER IS SO FAST

  • Fasinating..lol

  • WOW BOWSER IS FAST!

  • oooo.

  • And what exactly is the point of L-Cancelling in Melee competitive play? Apart from making your attacks land faster, I see nothing else to take advantage of.

  • L-cancelling is VERY useful in competitive play apparently. I never quite understood how it worked, so thanks for the vid! :)

  • well like u said, it leaves them less open for attack

and i guess with some(if not all) characters, this enables them to dish out combos

  • That's my thoughts on it.

At the risk of sounding like a noob, I can't really see how much of an advantage it could give me, to be honest.

  • faster aerials dude...

although not that much faster, every bit faster makes a difference, oh AddledOne..

    =P

  • If u attack in the air.. and u land.. u need time to recover.. and an opponent could hit u.. but if u L-cancel.. U need less time, and u could roll away and not get hit.. or dodge in another way..

  • But a successful aerial attack shouldn't leave your opponent just waiting to smack you in most cases...but I do see your point. If anything, this is a useful fail-safe for missing all the time.

  • actually it does.. when u use it u'll notice..

  • wow..that culd have been done better

  • Oh!! so that's wat i was doing when i was link and i was meteor smashing and canceled it b4 hitting the ground

  • Cool

  • Cool

  • I didn't see much of a difference there...

  • talk more shit nerd

  • LOL love that comment xD you dumass

  • its kinda hard to see

  • cool stuff.

  • thanks for this Vid it will improve my fighting Tecs i have gained many by waching vids and performing them i hope to see challenges in Brawl latz....and yeah maybe it useless since it might not have them but still gives Melee a few more tries XP

  • You'll definately be able to do it in Melee. As for Brawl, Sakurai took them out.

  • How you L-cancel by pushing L. Then how do you attack? Push L and A at the same time?

  • like 1/20 of a second befor eu land u press L and if u used to it and practice u can do some sick crap out of a l cancel into a combo, wavedash no its not impossable its easy

  • 1/3 of a second actually

  • sweet

  • is that.. zelda..?

  • yea

  • what is the song it sounds familiar

  • its a remix of one of the zelda games hyrule castle music

  • oh thanks man now i know and can u tell me the name of this song if it is one

  • The easiest of the advanced techniques is... crouch cancelling! The WD is easy with some (Luigi, Fox, IC), but hard with others (Peach, Zelda). l-canceling is the hardest to do consistently, although it is much easier with some (Link, Roy) than others (Pikachu, Yoshi).

  • I finally figured it out. Videos/guides werent very informative. YOu have to press R/L/Z right before you hit the ground. I thought it was right when your hit connects. very interesting...

  • Irish are retarted? It's in the video :/. Plus I can't see how L-cancelling is hard, it's the easiest of all the advance techniques.

  • L cancel cancels have of the lag on any given aerial if preformed correctly.

  • What is an L-Canceled move?
