When you get shot you don't really fly back actually you either stumble backwards,fall back or forward or your knees buckle and you just drop. That flying bakc stuff is hollywood but I suppose itmakes it more entertaining.

this is useless if you want to do serious projects, nice shootouts, because operating this system is pain in ass, especialy if you want to do multiple shots in various areas at your body.

Solution is, as many years it was - squib.

Now let me make this clear, squib are not dangerous when you know how to work with them.

You can remotely blow them with proper device, and you can have as many bullet hits as you want-need.

Thats why compresed air will never beat good old bullet squibs.

I take a plastic coke bottle mix tons of blood up. get a tube take the tube onto the plastic bottle fill both up full with blood then hook it up like you did there.

It makes more of a squirt instead of a spray (more gore to be exact)

Set up a clear hose with a hole in the side as shown.

Use tighteners to connect it to pressure spray pump.

Pump the sprayer up 100 times.

Pour fake blood into the clear hose.

Tape the hose to your actor under a prepared shirt.

When ready release the sprayers trigger.

Between the pump's hose end and the plastic hose with the blood is a trigger valve. When you are ready someone in the crew, here I did it myself with the camera on a tripod, pulled the trigger. the sound effects went in later. Does that help?

2. 50/50 Water/blood! You could get severly sick if you had an open cut and the blood you were using was not a compatible type with your blood.

I have Visionlab from FXhome but the blood just doesnt looks good its better to do the real thing. Detonation films can be pretty good but you have to pay for the best looking blood splatters. have you ever bought anything from there? it safe?

clear plastic tubing we purchased at a hardware store. Sized to fit the end of the garden pump. We cut a diamond shaped hole about the size of a cigarette's butt.

Can you get your actor to lie in Plaster of Paris? Coat their back with vaseline. Make a mold of the back only--should come up to the sides. Enough to put a shirt on. Use Celluclay (an inexpensive by very good papier mache you can get online or at Michael's) and put a 1/4 inch layer in the mold (once the mold dries).

Put an identical shirt on the papier machie body half you take out(when that is dry). Put the hose right next to the place the sword goes through, and do a Extreme closeup of the sword coming out of the back.

There is a trigger on the garden sprayer at the end of its tube. You just release it and the pressurized air goes into the clear tube with the blood. It is just an ordinary hand-pumped garden sprayer you can get at any hardware store. I got this one at K-mart.

That was great. It gave me some great tips for my films' special effects.

The only problem was that he held his nose, but I can understand; it's not nice to get water up your nose when your upside-down. My advise would be to block them with blue-tack or plastercine.

He's my grandson so I was trying not to make it too tough for him. What I regret is that I had the camera off, when, after having gone into the pool once and having to do it again, he said "Acting is hard."
