  • Didn't see any info to shoot you an email. I have the regular square k&N filter in my air box. For my power and gas milage should I switch to the cone filter?

  • K&Ns are junk.....if you like dirt in your rings and oil chewing away at your bearings go right ahead.

  • Honestly who pays a dealer to replace there air filter?

  • @vebkirker Their*

And, someone whos time is worth more than $180 an hour.

  • $220 sensor

  • 9.9 mpg WTF is the car

  • I bought one of these and did notice slight better throttle response. I didn't notice any increase in fuel mileage or horsepower. It does let in more air but it also let's in dust. My throttle body was full of dust. I clean and oil the filter when it gets too dirty and now my MAF (mass airflow sensor) is broke and I need to replace it. $50 filter going in the garbage and $100 for the sensor. Thanks K&N.

  • FACT: air filters play NO ROLE on MPG for a fuel injected car. this is a fact anyone that knows the least bit about cars should know. They only make a difference with a carbourated engine.

  • @kirbienstien really... you must not understand how fuel injected cars work either... between the o2 sensor and the maf sensor the computer adjusts the fuel and air mixture, thus potentially increasing fuel mileage on the car... retard haha

  • @clar8544 GO ready ANY case study you fucking goon.

  • @CDNKushOnly: I had 2006 maseratu quattroporte and i say " fuck the italian shit-boxes of ". Yes it looks good but it is wery poor engineered. I never seen the shit looks like maserati! Only engine is good part on the maserati but not better than 5.7 HEMI. Thanks god about the dodge ram hemi!

  • @kzokyn I had a 2006 300C and have the new 2012 300C as well. It's a great car, but if you're comparing the engines (let alone saying the hemi is BETTER), you're insane and obviously never had a QP, or drove one, for that matter.

    Nice try.

  • just picked up a K&N Air Filter for my 2011 silverado with the 5.3l. I personally feel more power now and seems to get 1 to 2 mpg better now/.

  • dont worry about those people saying "fuck ur maserati" let the haters hate cuz they got civics and will never drive anything even close to a maserati

  • for one this kid says that he has to leave his car at a car dealership for a day and pay hundreds to replace his airfilter if that says anything about this idiot and people who buy kandn never clean there filter so it gets all shitty plus just because you get more airflow doesnt mean you get more horsepower because you get no more fuel with the air so these can actually hurt the engine its especially stupid to put an air filter on a stock engine and act like its gonna add all this horsepower

  • I just installed a K&N in my 98 Dodge Ram 3.9 v6, Didnt get to drive it yet so i cant wait until tomorow when i finally get to try it out. I did start it up afterwards and i noticed it started up faster and it sounded a little different and revved faster.

  • You owe me $100 bud...my air filter looks NOTHING like yours....LOLLLLL

  • Hey there . I am planning to to install the K&N filter on my 2009 Nissan Patrol super safari , my question is . With the filter installed , does it consume more petrol ? Because my car drinks like crazy as it is , so i am worried if i did install the k&n it would consume more petrol and put my life in hell because of paying for petrol money , cheers ..

  • Maybe i'll get the magical extra horsepower if I put one on my lawnmower...*yawn*

  • None of the dirt with a k&n filter? dont think so I bet you 100 bucks the original filter lets less dirt through the the K&N

  • i will belive in this as i have a k and n filtre for my car took it out to clean it and put in a fram for the time the k and n was out my gas mileage dropped and horse power dropped and it almost felt likei had a restricted exaust, i have been using k and n for the past 10 years and it hasn't let me down

  • What a piece of shit video for a piece of shit product from some kid ricer.

CambioCorsa? You're full of shit, just like K&N is.

And who the fuck cares about airflow if you've got a rock catcher for an air filter.

  • @maersklandro A kid with a Maserati..

  • I have a K&N cold air intake on my Tahoe and a drop in filter in my Mustang. I have never had any issues with dirt getting inside my engine or oil getting abnormally dark. Just check the filter regularly to see if it's dirty. Hold the filter up into a light source. If you see most of the filter area blocking out light it's a good idea to recharge the filter. For extra peace of mind get a filter wrap. It increases dirt filtration and repels water. Google K&N PreCharger or DryCharger. They work.

  • From my experience K&N filters/intakes are good and do add power. The intake kits will give you horsepower in the teens range but if we're talking about the drop in filter it's probably more like 1 or 2 hp at best. I've heard about the oil screwing with MAF sensors but I think that only happens if you use way too much oil. You just need to apply a light coat until the cotton gets that light pink color.

  • i got one!!!! and its Bad ass!!

  • 9 MPG to 14??! what car are you driving?! My car averages around 40-45 MPG lol

  • you know what's messed up is that i always thought of K&N as a top of the line product's but this AD reminds me of some chessy shamwow or billy mays BS...but if K&N has reduced itself to pimping their stuff out to youtube advertisers, i think i'll look elsewhere...just my opinion of course

  • High flow filters may be used in racecars, but they don't care about long lasting engines. Most racecar engines are rebuilt often, sometimes after every race.

If you care about your car/truck and want it to last, a better filter (not a high flow) is the way to go.

  • You have to decide if you want more DIRT in your engine. High flow comes at a cost.

These things aren't magic, and its a trade off, just like most things.

  • how much would this air filter cost for a 99 chevrolet lumina ls

  • BMC is a much better filter compared to K&N. It makes the K&N look and feel as if it were made in China. And you are way off on hp and fuel economy gains.

  • i just bought a car with this filter is it hard for me (car virgin) lol

will it be easy for me too clean the filter?

I live in canada. by reading the box says spray filter and or leave filter in water for like 10 mins rinse then (some how don't know how yet) but some how let filter dry then spray with the air filter oil. how long does this take can a filter take ONLY 20 mins too dry?

Is there other ways of drying it faster lol it's winter here lol

  • I used K&N and its very lame. My oil changes have proven to me that it provides less protection. The oil is very dirty and that in my book is not cool. If you must grab an aftermarket filter, grab a foam filter. Additionally, the gauze type filter (k&n) also is a pain in the ass clean and recharge. A paper filter is easy to throw out and replace a fresh one.

  • I disagree about MPG gains. More air + more fuel = more hp

  • Be careful when switching to a K&N "filter". technically speaking, it is a filter, i.e. it will prevent some debris (bird feathers, leaves, pine cones, etc) from entering your throttle body & intake manifold. But these things WILL NOT filter small dirt and dust particles like a paper media filter element. I installed one of these on my '95 F-150 and did notice a modest improvement in fuel economy. When the truck started to run like shit, i found the throttle body fouled with dust & dirt.

  • @Kara0ki How about pets and small children?

  • i bought a filter and it made a difference. now my dads getting one.

  • Ive been to hundreds of dynos and seen for my self the HP increase that comes from aftermarket Filters. Still think an intake kit is far better though. Ive heard good and bad things about the K@N filters but never seen an engine damaged after using them. Other companies like S@B, airaid, and Afe claim to have better designs than k2N thiugh.

  • @grvrjr I test a k&n fipk kit for my old nissan frontier it give me more power like going up hills. that because fipk kit its a strait from filter to throttle body no extria chambers to quiet to intake noise and reduce power. no mpg gain its the same as stock intake. there is no silver bullets to give any better gas milage just let you know.

  • my truck has one of those k & n drop-in filters. i bought a new regular filter and tested both of them out. i didn't have any mpg gain at all. your demo test is no good.

  • K&N is a gimmick to me I buy the OEM filters from a dealer and install it my self. When to buy the k&n cleaning kit I don buy another filter. I see no differences in the power and gas mileage. K&N get dirty quick if driving on dirt roads its gets clogged up and cause bad gas mileage.

  • @dfcampbell1 If its not an intake kit I wouldnt waste my money. Its like going half way. I would just stick with the paper filter.

  • 5 mpg... wow lol, that total fucking BS

    maybe like .5

  • fuck ur maserati

  • The downside of K& N filters is the need to re-oil the guaze. The AEM, Amsoil and some others don't require oil, but just a washing, and drying.

However, oil is likely the best for grabbing sub-micron particulates.

I think you should do the same experiment with all types of dust and see how much clogging ea. filter can take before the engine chokes and stops.

  • the best = K&N

  • why would you pay that damn much to just have a filter changed. that's retarded

  • @thatoneguy752 LMao for real huh

  • your car is shit, my car will last well over 100k miles because i look after it and dont leave it at a dealer to change a fucking air filter of all things, i bet you leave your car there for a day to top it up with fuel, how uncool is that

  • Got one for my pickup, and it runs better. still need to rebuild the carburater though.

  • 12hp increase? get real bro.. not sure if you've actually done a real life dyno, but putting any afternarket filter only gains u 1hp.. real life hp that is.. and last you forever? within 1 year of continuous usage your filter would have started to shrunk..

  • @ethanphoon man you are wrong all cars have different gains,,,, you get more then one hp if you swap out your filter or intake and if you only gain one hp your r driving a gocart anyway ,,,,,

  • You owe me $100 jackass, I don't have that OEM filter in my car.

  • Comment removed

  • stfu....put it in (your car, your imaginary car), what a dick man....

  • LOL No shit dude of course it's going to die before 1,000,000 miles!

  • well the apexi air filters are better

    they filter better

but are only made for japaneese cars

  • Useless junk and a waste of time and time and money. No increase in HP, but makes a lot of noise giving you the illusion of power. Stick with your factory filter. Don't you think the engineers would ship with this if it were so superior?

And what's this stuff about 'cold air' intake. Where do you get the cold air? Nothing but heat under the hood.

  • @SnortedColors These filters are superior and I have proven that myself on the dyno. It is hardly a huge difference but expect a couple extra horses anytime more air is entering the engine. The reason why cold airs are called cold air is because they utilize cooler air coming in from outside of the car through the grille. Since the average running temperature of an engine is around 230 degrees the air outside is much cooler and thus more powerful than surrounding under hood air.

  • @SnortedColors

Oh and also the reason why manufacturers do not ship vehicles with these filters is not because they are not superior. It is because they must adhere to certain restrictions and most customers do not want the louder engine noise that results from aftermarket filters. Most things that come from the factory can be replaced with higher quality products. Why do you think aftermarket intakes and exhausts prove to provide more power and torque? Manufacturers just like to cut costs!

  • I love my K&N. My 2000 MB C230 Kompressor has over 200K miles on the motor and never had a problem with K&N from day one! Do your oil change in due time and never over oil your filter when cleaning and you will be FINE!

  • what's the difference between cone filter and flat filter? which ones better?

  • I hate to say it, but if the K&N filter passes air through that easily, then you cannot expect it the stop dust and small particles. In other words this filter will outlast your engine because the filters design will shorten the lifespan of the engine.

  • That's complete BS, all this filter does is increase the air going into the engine. First of all the dust concern is only if you drive in areas that ARE DUSTY. And second of all all the "dust" that gets into your engine is completely burned off and cleaned by the OIL. Change your oil at scheduled times and have a good oil filter. That's all you need to keep the engine happy.

  • hey guys, I was put kn filter in my fiat bravo sport 1.9 multijet, really i fell more hp :))

  • ALSO I JUST WANT TO ADD UP THE K&N FILTER ON THIS DEMO IS RED SO ITS OILED

  • YES WHO EVER IS TELLING YOU THIS ITS THE TRUTH I HAVE A 2007 HONDA CIVIC SI AND JUST STARTED USING A K&N FILTER AND BELIEVE ME I SEE AND FELT THE DIFFERENCE USING THE K&N, I CAN FEEL THE HORSEPOWER INCREASE AND MY GAS MILEAGE GOT BETTER. I DO ADV ICE AND RECOMMEND TO GET THE K&N FILTER NOW IM ACTUALLY THINKING OF GETTING THE INTAKE FROM K&N AND I CAN'T WAIT

  • K&N air filters are not good filtering filters. Don't get them confused with foam motorcycle filters. They let dust particals through, and the oil can damage sensors in some vehical. If you put them up to a light you can see right through them. there's a reason why K&N sell socks to put over them in dusty conditions. When compared to paper or Nano fiber filters in tests they fail miserably.

  • k&n sucks. it causes engine lights to come on because of the oil. i switched to aem, and 3yrs later, still no engine light

  • SMALL surface area, bigger holes = more dirt to the engine. NO increase in HP compared to the original filter and housing, just more noise. K&N blocks faster and the oil breaks MAF sensors. The demo machine is a con, the K&N will allow more unfiltered air through to damage the engine. A paper element passes more air than a car uses at full RPM.

  • @urbex2007 Tell that to my dyno test-- retard.

  • @AutomotiveGroupBuys funny thing is i've seen dynos where paper filters showed a 1-2 HP increase

  • @AutomotiveGroupBuys

LOL. Just wait til what urbex2007 said comes true. :)

  • @urbex2007

Dirt? What do you think oil filter is for? I had K&N in my 2000 MB C230 since new and the car now has over 210000 miles on it. Proper oil change interval is the key if you own a filter that lets in more dirt. Also, as long as you DO NOT OVER OIL the filter you will not have MAF problems. I have K&N in two cars and never once had MAF problems.

  • @urbex2007 Can you explain how the very fine particles of dust that pass through a k&N destroy the engine?? How do they stand the stratospheric temperatures and pressures in the combustion chamber?? Thanks.

  • @urbex2007 I know people who have had there filters on there car for over 100,000 miles no problem.

  • @urbex2007 if you oil the filter right it does no damage.i put one in my jeep and got better mileage and better power.im just wondering tho...if it allows dirt into the intake then how come the K&N clogs before my old paper filter AND it keps dirt out of my MAF? with my original filter there used to be streaks of dirt dont the intake tuber and with the K&N they arent there. explain that will ya?

  • @urbex2007 Hate people like you :@ PISS ME OF!

  • @urbex2007 K&N air filters do allow more air to flow through enabling someone to be able to draw more air, in turn add more fuel, and as a result, get more hosepower. As far as the filter adding power by itself.... NO, but, If all you do is street driving, K&N works best. If you live / drive on a dirt road or take your vehicle to a construction site,or anywhere with lots of dirt, then the K&N might not filter enough. I have a modded car, tried many other brands, none work as good as K&N.

  • @urbex2007 dik they are better you dnt no sh&T

  • @urbex2007 dik you dnt no sh&t

  • @urbex2007 surely blocking faster means IT FILTERS BETTER .......how can it allow more unfiltered air throw but block faster ?? o_O and they only state a maximum of 4hp wen u replace a oem panel filter.... doubt many ppl wud pick on that.... tard

  • It's a lot easier to breath throught a shirt, lets say, than breath throught a piece of cartboard. LOOL

  • WOW.a really good, unbiased review showing the superiority of K&N filters.I was debating getting one,but now I know I have to haha. Thanks for the video!

  • is that made by kia

  • سلام عليكم hey if the oile dry is that allows dirt throw the filer to engine? and dos it dry if hot area like above 49c like 130 f

  • why would yo pay the dealer to change a air filter if you pay the dealer to do it your filter you the fucking retarded

  • worlds best air filter? ok if you say so, go look at some filtration tests, which is what matter right? kn are junk,

  • kn filters flow more because they filter nothing, not beleive me? put one in your car, clean out the air tract post filter, drive the car for 5,000km then pull the filter out and inspect the inlet tract post filter, full of gritty junk, kn filters are usless. i love the more air = more power, yes, untill you have no compression = fuck all power.

  • I dont have a high performance car..93 toyota celica...and I just bought this filter. should i also do as Stikkoen said and get a sports exhaust?

  • I too can vouch for the quality of K&N as I have one in my car. But this experiment is total BS. If you look closely, you can see that the OEM filter was being covered by plexi glass ( thus no air flow) and the K&N had a hole in the plexi glass. K&N has a great name and reputation and it is a great product, so dont ruin it by running BS tests like these!!

  • @fallout09890

Are you an idiot? There is no plexiglass.

My God, some people are idiots.

  • @AutomotiveGroupBuys so it was a coincidence that the ball didnt drop when you put the paper filter in but it dropped when you closed the door. If you claim that there is no plexi glass then you are using a dirty filter. your the idiot because 1: you used God's name with senseless intentions and 2: you take your car to the dealer to get the air filter replaced. 3: you ask me to show you where the plexi glass is?!?!? the whole point of your video is to not let people see the plexiglass!!!!

  • @fallout09890 Oh yeah, you are an idiot I guess.

The reason the ball dropped when the door closed was because the filter was BEDDED. Idiot.

You are yet another one of the people who falls into the old phrase "A virgin talking about sex." You have no idea what you are talking about but you go blabbing on.

There is an obvious hole on the door.

Any yeah, this video uses the EXACT same demo available for you to see close up at Kraegen and AutoZone.

    You are such an idiot.

  • @AutomotiveGroupBuys who are you to call me an idiot when youre the one going to the dealer to get an air filter replaced. Your language shows how professional you are and the kind of customer service you provide.

  • @fallout09890 It's simple-- I call you an idiot because you ARE an idiot. Did you want me to lie to you about it? People lying to you about it is what got you to the point you are at now: making wild accusations, seeing invisible plexiglass, etc.

You shouldn't assume that I take my car to the dealer to change the air filter-- I dont.

But, since it is an Italian sports car-- that isn't THAT out of the ordinary. It means you have full service records so you can sell it for more later.

    Idiot.

  • @AutomotiveGroupBuys YOU GOT OWNED BY FALLOUT09890 LOL YOU LEAVE YOUR CAR AT DEALERSHIP FOR FUCKING AIR FILTER? RETARDED. JUST RETARDED. REGARDLESS OF CAR. :)

  • @SuperLlort I guess that someone who drives a '89 Toyota would never understand why exotic car owners take their cars to the dealer for basic service-- like changing an air filter.

Let me fill you in-- if you DO NOT have 100% of your service records when you try to sell your car, you lose about 45 to 50% off the price you can command. So an exotic car that COULD have sold for 200 grand will only sell for about 110 if you are LUCKY without service records.

    Retard.

  • @AutomotiveGroupBuys I heard that K & N lets a whole lotta shit through though to the engine, so as a result, you're driving as if like you don't have a filter...

  • @SuperLlort Oh-- and to change the air filter on a maserati you need to: 1) Remove the front wheel. 2) Remove the brake rotor and caliper 3) Remove the wheel-well liner 4) Remove the airbox 5) Swap the air filter 6) Replace the airbox 7) Replace the well liner 8) Replace the calipers and rotors 9) Bleed the brake system 10) Replace the wheel. Yeah-- You may have time to spend a few hours out of your day to change the filter. For me, time is money. I outsource.
  • @AutomotiveGroupBuys Your a dick for buying a car so poorly designed then, yet you brag about it. I dont care how rich you are, to me thats just stupid ass design, no offense.

  • @AutomotiveGroupBuys The very fact that you made such an explanation tells me your just a keyboard warrior who tells all his computer friends about his maserati which doesnt actually exist... in real life. :))

  • Comment removed

  • @fallout09890 I was thinking about getting an K&N air filter but I hate the feeling of being scammed by gimmicks. Can you tell me what part in this video shows the plexi glass covering the OEM air filter? I would like the test to be fair for both air filters. I wonder if there are any independent labs or reviews who can reproduce this test without any bias.

  • @Armornone There is no plexiglass. This demo is found in any major auto-part store you go to. Go check to see if there is a slab of plexiglass.

As mentioned before, @fallout09890 is an IDIOT.

  • I have one in my Acura RL part #33-2179. I'll be honest but I don't see a big increase in gas mileage since I got it. Still, I'm glad I bought one so that I don't have to keep replacing air filters. I plan to buy one for every car that I'll buy in the future.

  • @Thecarguy1991 K&N filter does not give you a BIG increase in gas mileage but more like 1-2 mpg. Depends on vehicle.

  • i have a k&n intake on my frontier, i have never had any problems with my truck with my k&n and its been on my truck for over 5 years and 60k miles. as far as them letting dirt escape into the engine is just non sense, my oil has never been dirtier before i put the k&n on. many people complain about cleaning and reoiling, GET OVER IT, takes atleast 1 or 2 hours to do for another 5 or 6 years of operation.

  • will this filter add some sound like the kn 57 cold air filters

  • If you put the filter up to the sun, just like you normally would for inspection, you'll see little holes that go right through. That explains why there is less air restriction. Thus dirt does go through compared to normal filter. But ever since 5W-20 oil engines will last a million miles so long as you switch to 5w-30 after it's well broken in. Dealers don't want your car to last that long, not even half that.

  • I have one on both a 93 tercel and a 95 talon tsi.On the tercel it gives a slight sucking sound from the intake,on the tsi it makes the turbo and bov sound much better.Best hp gain for the buck imo.

  • im sold

  • im lookin at buy something like this. buyt will an air filter alone give me a sporty sound. i dont care for BHP, i just want my car to sound more sporty and be abit more efficient?

  • No, you won't notice an better sound but will gain 10 or so HP. Depending on your car you can get an axle back exhaust system that will give you much better sound for around 3 to 7 bills, depending on your car. Cheers.

  • well i already bought one as somebody else who bought one said it gave them a sporty sound. i also bought an induction =)

  • Well that sounds great. Hope so, I just ordered an Airaid CAI system and the Megna Flow Exhaust system for my new Camaro. Could be that some cars do sound better with the K&N but on the four cars that I have put the K&N on it didn't change the sound but I would expect with the CAI it would make a better sound, as more air going in makes more air going out. Thanks for the info and you can't go wrong with the K&N, they are great.

  • once i install an indcution (which also has an airfilter yes) do i still need the normal air filter in the air box. if so wont the filter on the indcution slow the air down too :s im confused.

  • @raikkonen85

yea dude ur engine will sound like sucking all the air in

    and a sporty cool sound

with the rpm high u will listen tot the best sound ever

  • Is the K&N in the video oiled?

  • i soo want to buy one for my car right now, but it is midnight, damm, gotta wait untill the morning to buy mine

  • anticipation sucks...lol,i got mine the other day for my 1995 camaro Z/28

  • woa you took your car to the dealership to replace the air filter! you shouldnt be calling other people idiots

  • the truth is when he puts the OEM filter in,he puts it in the wrong way, the side that's sucking air should be the side where is metal mesh thingy should be but the K&N filter can will suck air equally in any direction so even with the K&N the wrong way it outperformed the OEM one, well that's the trick in this video if i am wrong and i hope i am cuz i just got a KN filter then sorry

  • i have one of these on my 93 ford taurus and i get great gas mileage with this

  • the sound it makes is the iar going in to the engine the less restricitve filter lets more air in and faster so it actually sound nice for me when you step on the throttle

  • I want to know is K&N in this demo DRY.

And if it is... can you show us result with OILED filter.

  • @krkoychev

If it wasn't oiled it would be white, the oil is what gives it it's red color.

  • @krkoychev i agree 100 percent... what our 14 year old friend showcasing this product doesnt realize is that he is using a filter that NEEDS lubrication to be able to be called a filter at all. so much for his moserati

and as a side-note the 89 toyota has retains much better value than the sports car

has a much more durable engine as well

  • yah no not at all. You're an idiot.

  • of course the ball droped you closed some plexiglass the door over the oem filter. slight of hand.

  • @cobrachoppergirl Your right, good catch. Thanks.

  • ebay has clean tool kit for on sale cheapest

  • i purchased a k&n air intake sysytem about two weeks ago and it makes a weird noise in the engine. it's a 2003 ford f-150. i would appreciate it if you can help me with this problem.

  • Does it make the noise when the slam the throttle?

  • There's nothing wrong with it, that's just the sound it makes from sucking in more air than the stock intake.

  • What k&n filter is compatible with aem short ram?

  • god 14.1 mpg, I guess you got a lot of cash for gas if you drive a maserati

  • i know a dude who gets 57 mpg with diesel.

    thats fucking cheap driving!

  • i just bought a truck that has a k&n air filter witch made me feel good but it was a little dirty how do you clean them i did spay it with a air hose but just wondering if their is a better way or do i even need to clean?

  • go to your local part store and buy the "recharger kit from K&N" its like 12 dollars in my area...

  • never spray it with air.... buy a recharge kit and reaaaaddd

  • I don't know wether to put a performance air filter on my rover 200. It's got a performance excaust but im not sure weather to put a performance filter on. Should i go for it? However i did have a air filter on my other car...

  • good god... 9.9mpg... fuck me my vauxhall corsa goes 80... fucking hell haha

  • good demo. 2 things that suck about this video:

usage of wannabe hip words "Yo" and "Dude"

k&n makes good filters. i use a Simota on my BMW 328is and it sounds amazing and breathes so good

  • idk about dude, but yo is wannebe hip hop

  • i use a k&n filter on my clk...matter of fact, its drying up after a clean

  • i would have been more inpressed if the pipe was longer

  • Comment removed

  • i rate that

  • what about dust ????

can you do a test ?????

  • i dunno ????

    can he ?????

  • One thing that should be mentioned in the video, if you increase the intake, you have to increase the exhaust as well. I drove around for almost a year with just a K&N-filter on my 2.0i Vectra - and sure, I did get some better throttle response. But any extra bhp? No way. I wasn't until I got my sports exhaust I really felt any diffrence in the car. This because the original exhaust isn't made for the extra air flow. Hence you will have way to much "back pressure" with just a sport filter.

  • so now ur car sounds like a SWEET rice burner!?!?!?!

  • @Stikkoen I have a 93 toyota celica. just got this filter. its not a performance car just a 4-cylinder automatic. but should i get a sports exhaust? or is it not necessary?

  • @fashank22 Depends what you're after. Like I said, just the air filter will get you somewhat better throttle response and possibly a little better fuel economy. If you add sports exhaust you'll gain maybe 3-5 bhp and a sporty sound ;-)

  • @Stikkoen yeah definetely not worth it for my car haha it is in no way a racer and I don't want to be THAT GUY who has a piece of sht car with sports crap on it. I have my humility. But I would so do it if I had a better ride man. Whatever I think the filter will be enough. Thanks man!

  • @fashank22 I agree with you; although, I am "THAT GUY" with a piece of shit car with sports crap on it =) I believe that any car deserves upgrades, because it makes it more reliable and gives it more life span. I feel more comfortable that way =)

  • Fuel injection just injects however much the Air flow meter tells it. You dont normally drive around at full throttle. You restrict the airflow with the butterfly. Or like you say, you could put your hand over the intake. Or you could have the crappiest filter. Either way we NEED to restrict air flow or our engine is gonna go full power. So 99% of the time we are doing that with the throttle butterfly - the filter just helps the butterfly do its job!

  • Surely a race filter only makes a difference at wide open throttle?

  • incorrect.

do you know anything about vehicles?

if so imagine a valve port polish, they do that to increase power because the air flows easier.

    same concept.

  • Yeah but at any time other than wide open throttle you are restricting the airflow with the throttle butterfly. A cheaper filter is just doing the job of the butterfly in restricting airflow. Your butterfly might be more open to compensate but the airflow meter doesnt know the difference.

So at any time other than wide open throttle a fancy filter makes no difference.

    Yes! I love being right!

  • you might love being right but your wrong.

you dont understand the way intake works.

if you have an engine with efi, take the air filter off and put your hand over the throttle body.

    same concept.

its all about airflow, its like putting an exhaust manifold with 90degree bends.a hooker header gives better exhaust flow at all rpms but its most noticeable at high rpms.

    you got this all wrong

  • As for exhaust flow - Yes that will directly affect power output as you are dealing with scavenging and clearing out the burnt mixture. Therefore better combustion can be achieved and therefore better efficeincy. I think even K&N admit their filters only give about 1% better efficeincy over the range. Of course at full throttle there can be a big difference with free flow filters giving more power as then you are asking for max airflow. But only then.

  • it took my truck from 15.4 mpg to 17.6 mpg,i have am 04 ram with the 5.7 hemi magnum before they put the mds on them.

on my truck it took the power up more than 1%.

mostly it gives better engine response.

your right its not going to give an extra 5000 horsepower and 1000000 lbft of torque idling.

if you want better performance for cheap get a performance chip,or install a small supercharger.

where are you getting your numbers from anyway?

  • hey sutomotive group i was planning to get a universal one for my honda cbr250r would that fit in my bike u think like those round ones

  • o and I had to replace a k&n airfilter on a '96 1500 ram, the filter had all kinds of muck on it, but i do like k&ns

  • FRAM AIR FILTERS!!!!!! do frams have the cool circular intakes? and i change my own airfilter

  • ... dont get fram dude...

  • BUNK

  • yea, im gunna get this for my car.. i have a Volvo 850 turbo.. i was tolded that a K&N air filter, NOT intake, will make a pretty big different in horsepower and acceleration.... would you be able to tell me if that is right? cuz i don't want to do much to my car, but i would let to get a bit of power gain.. also i was told, turbo spark plugs would help me out.. .any thoughts would help thanks.. im indecisive thats why i have questions THANKSSS
