After that the Ptolemaic people held power. The people never had representation until modern Egypt came about. Direct democracy =/= a republic either. Direct democracy is when CITIZENS (not elected officials) make ALL decisions. ALL Athenian males were assembled in an area of the city and they voted on ALL issues.
Our system of "democracy" is not Athenian. There was only ONE instance of Athenian democracy (direct democracy) and that was in Athens. We are aWe are an indirect democracy (Roman Republic). We elect people to decide for us. That's it. We don't vote on anything else. Womens rights has nothing to do with it.

Most people don't know what those terms mean, but if you see where Obama stands, you'll see that he is quite socialistic. Communism is a whole different thing, in which case all I'll say is read the communist manifesto and compare. There are *some* similarities. However, Obama does lean towards socialism. He is what we would call a "progressive" and favors progressive taxes...it's the same thing as socialism. Obama didn't start it, we've lived in a mixed economy for years. He leans socialistic.
Right, there is no such thing as a fully capitalist economy. There will always be a bit of socialism everywhere. It's not a good thing, but it's reality.

I will say i would rather have the old democrats from the Clinton days than these new socialist democrats. When banks were assured that they could dump these bad loans to Fannie & Freddie and they realized they could make lots of money during each transaction, they ran with it. Bush didn't stop it, Barney & most Dems laughed at Rep. concerns that F & F were in financial trouble. THEY'RE ALL GUILTY! Obama & Frank THE MOST!

I don't mean any offence here. Really, I don't, but that is very incorrect. Democracy =/= womens rights. Ancient Egypt was ruled by a long line of Pharaohs that held absolute power. After that the Ptolemaic people held power. The people never had representation until modern Egypt came about. Direct democracy =/= a republic either. Direct democracy is when CITIZENS (not elected officials) make ALL decisions. ALL Athenian males were assembled in an area of the city and they voted on ALL issues.

Most people don't know what those terms mean, but if you see where Obama stands, you'll see that he is quite socialistic. Communism is a whole different thing, in which case all I'll say is read the communist manifesto and compare. There are *some* similarities. However, Obama does lean towards socialism. He is what we would call a "progressive" and favors progressive taxes...it's the same thing as socialism. Obama didn't start it, we've lived in a mixed economy for years. He leans socialistic.
