My Nokia N95 has a wobbly slide from where it was dropped... The battery seems to only last one day... the key pad seems a bit crampd... but its awesome, i love it :) cud anyone suggest why my battert seems to last a day?
Iphone 3g doesnt have tus gps as nokia N95. Iphone still have only google maps and N95 has built gps. On iphone u cannot navigate; and on N95 u can go everywere with nokia maps. Iphone google maps only works with internet. N95 nokia maps works EVERYWERE. My english is no good sorry.
Lastly, I would post a video to prove my point that the N95 GPS does not require you to be connect to the internet to use GPS, but theres alot of video like that already. If you don't understand, this means the N95 works and functions exactly like a real GPS (TomTom, Garmin, Magellan), which means no need for internet.
Thats the problem, youre using Nokia maps. Nokia maps require internet connection, which is known as A-GPS. Like I said I have a N95 too and use it all the time with NO INTERNET CONNECTION. However you must install a map software such as Route66, SatNavi, TomTom, etc. Your comments make it seem like you know very little about phones & GPS. Also your video link has nothing to do with what we're talkin about. It just shows a guy using the iPhone GPS. I know how to use a GPS and knows how it works

Even when the sky is blue and you are outside you usually need more than 2 minutes until you have a connection. I onest needed 20. and as soon as you enter a building the connection is gone

Get a Symbian phone istead of iPhone. Any Symbian phone will do more for you. You can get a Nokia N800 and a budget cell phone. I did that and I am a PM at a web development company. This combination does the trick for me, I think it will be good for you too.

Having true GPS in my N95 running either Nokia Maps or Garmin Mobile XT, means I only have to have ONE device in a holder on the cars dashboard or stuck to the windscreen.
I tried using Google Maps for the above, but it just couldn't compete with Garmin or Nokia Maps.

Your phone (and Prada, Voyager, LG, Palm) just follow the lead!
LocateMe uses celltower triangulation, this is NOT GPS. Celltower triangulation been only accurate to about a mile or so round these parts, and so would be useless for real time turn-by-turn navigation.
iPhone has NO games, apart from web games in Safari, and UNOFFICIAL third party hacks, which void warranty and risk bricking the iPhone.
FYI the LG Prada phone came out months before the iPhone.

You never compromise your warranty in case you brick your iphone because you can always virginize it and it goes back to factory state.

So what happens if you leave NYC(or any large city) ?, and there is no or sparse celltower coverage, thats LocateMe rendered useless. Real satellite GPS will still work perfectly.

FYI the N95 does have an accelerometer, mainly used in image stabilization for video recording. Something else the iPhone does NOT have.

regarding the battery problem i charge my phone in the car. plus the battery life although is not optimum it isnt all that crappy. Iphone is mostly crappy exept for its design.

Thats because the network in the US is out of date, not the phone. As for the battery, I just carry around a spare in my wallet (its about the thickness of three credit cards) and pop it IF i need it (I can usually go 1.5 days without a recharge but if I'm streaming videos then its lower. Good luck changing the battery on an iPhone.

You are wrong, inside Nokia 95 also no real GPS, its only a software and you need to pay every year for that, and also you need tobe conected to Wireless or 3G to surf trough your GPS!!! better look closer to what your n95 can do. i traded my iphone for an n95 and very much pleased. true the touch is good but thatès all there is to it. now i browse the internet just like a desktop using skyfire, i use google maps with the gps, i have more battery power, i can attch my resume on my email, i can shoot quality videos, i can do everything a lot more than what iphone can offer.

Even when the sky is blue and you are outside you usually need more than 2 minutes until you have a connection. I onest needed 20. and as soon as you enter a building the connection is gone

Get a Symbian phone istead of iPhone. Any Symbian phone will do more for you. You can get a Nokia N800 and a budget cell phone. I did that and I am a PM at a web development company. This combination does the trick for me, I think it will be good for you too.

now the iphone has the SDK it opens doorways for updates and applications so Apple can make the iphone better and better, apperently a gps receiver is being released by tomtom for the iphone. all in all the iphone is still in its early days and better still it can be improved by updates forever!! so it will allways have the latest things on it :), im buying my iphone next week. worth every penny :)

iPhone(8gig) is £269 on O2 only, and on IMO rather expensive poor value contracts.

I need GPS on a phone, for postcode accurate realtime turn-by-turn voice-assisted navigation.
Having true GPS in my N95 running either Nokia Maps or Garmin Mobile XT, means I only have to have ONE device in a holder on the cars dashboard or stuck to the windscreen.
I tried using Google Maps for the above, but it just couldn't compete with Garmin or Nokia Maps.

iPhone can use Google Maps, but without built in GPS you have to tell the stupid thing where you are.
N95 comes with Nokia Maps, plus it can also use Tom Tom, Route66, Pathfinder etc. all with GPS capability and turn-by-turn voice directions.

LocateMe uses celltower triangulation, this is NOT GPS. Celltower triangulation been only accurate to about a mile or so round these parts, and so would be useless for real time turn-by-turn navigation.
iPhone has NO games, apart from web games in Safari, and UNOFFICIAL third party hacks, which void warranty and risk bricking the iPhone.
FYI the LG Prada phone came out months before the iPhone.

dude, you can play PSX on the iphone, besides Super nintendo, Game boy advance, and some other "Accelerometer-Based" games, piece of crap Nokia knows nothing about accelerometer. The cell tower triangulation is still really good for me since I live in NYC, just a few meters away, not miles.
You never compromise your warranty in case you brick your iphone because you can always virginize it and it goes back to factory state.
and even if the LG Prada came out before it still sucks big time!

So what happens if you leave NYC(or any large city) ?, and there is no or sparse celltower coverage, thats LocateMe rendered useless. Real satellite GPS will still work perfectly.
For me LocateMe would be useless, as I need realtime accurate turn-by-turn navigation that will work anywhere.
FYI the N95 does have an accelerometer, mainly used in image stabilization for video recording. Something else the iPhone does NOT have.

Thats because the network in the US is out of date, not the phone. As for the battery, I just carry around a spare in my wallet (its about the thickness of three credit cards) and pop it IF i need it (I can usually go 1.5 days without a recharge but if I'm streaming videos then its lower. Good luck changing the battery on an iPhone.
