" I cherish the moment when my Grandson asked me a question the other day. He asked me, 'Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?' Grandpa said no. But I served in a company of heroes."
War is horrible and indescribable for us - we who have never experienced the war. In my humble opinion, Band of Brothers is simply the only series that gives me nearly an example and imagination how terrible wars are. With all due respect to Easy Company and all the other soldiers.
@Skykilla21 Yes, because of awesome history, that makes it so fucking epic, which that your a German citizen, of what i'd remember Germans, is to be nazis along time ago,"try to Heil Hitler when your dead"Yankiee's slang of the Jerries and Krauts while yelling it on the spot of the fritz on the area >:) Fritz is a Bolshevik slang of "Germans while talking when enemies listening"Yelling it on the spot when the hans is on the area >:P Hans is a again a Bolshevik slang of "Germans is as prussians"
@XtremeNasism666 I doubt you got it right. I don't like Nazies. I'm not proud of anything? What the heck did you misunderstood? What I've been saying, is that I'm sorry to live in a country, which actually helped them Nazies. I've also been saying, that the germans aren't to blame. You got me completely wrong, when you think I'm proud of helping the Nazies.
I am so proud that my country never gave up the fight. We had equipment dating back to world war 1, but still we managed to sink one of Hitlers biggest naval ship, the blucher. The took with it many thousand to the bottom, and this helped the Norwegian gouverment escaping the german invaders. I am proud or King refused to surrender to the Germans, I am proud resistance continued to the end of the war.
I wont say RIP American soldiers, nor RIP Russian, Germany, Finnish, Chinese, Japanese soldiers.
But something I do say, RIP all who fought. Soldiers wasnt' the bad guys, Hitler was, Stalin was. Soldiers just had to fight. They didint have any other option. If you wasn't nazi, you got killed. In Finland, you had to fight against russia because love of your nation, in Japan it is their culture.. understand these little differences and understand that will of one man makes dozens suffer.
Its sad that people are still bitching about the nazi's. Times have changed, Germany aint under the control of the nazi bullshitters anymore. Germany is actually a nice place. Get over yourselves for once, if you cant confront change, then dont bother commenting.
I'm from the Netherlands. Thank you America for freeing us under the tiranny of the Nazi's... My grandpa always told me stories about when he was near where the americans had their artillery and firing just over the border.. it makes me sad and happy at the same time
@Abdikarimelmi haah your funny, look whats america is doing in the world killing power over power, i guess you have not seen the vid of a helicopter pilot lying so he could kill innocent civilans who were trying to get wounded people away wich were attacked by the same lying helicopter pilot
humans are evil and there is nothing you can change about it!
I am not from America nor am I from Germany. I am from Asia and suffered the wrath of Hirohito and Tojo the Fuckface. But even so, the soldiers were not to be blamed but their leaders of the country. So Dont say fuck those Jap soldiers or Kraut troops. Cos they were simply obeying orders and were their leader's lap dogs. But I know bout the Japanese raping the civilians. The reason was because they hated the chinese and wanted them to suffer... But anyways, RIP to all those who fought...
@JasonSnafuYap WELL...soldiers are soldiers. but ...they contributed to small portion of that madness. I remember nazi was chosen by German people to rule the country, people in Japan sincerely believed their tenno and his ridiculous decisions, and some people even believed war is the best way to keep the economy going. I think during that time everybody was insane.
@JessiLynK7 Yea I agree, I read books and watched many documentaries. The Japanese soldiers themselves said, they were maddened by war and thats why they did all those crazy things. They were already nuts after years of war.
@JessiLynK7 Brush up on your history, Hitler dragged Germany out of the worst economic downfall ever and rebuilt their economy. It was only when his idealistic views were put into law when things started to go bad, Germany was also reeling from losing most of their land to France due to the treaty of Versailles and were still hurting because of it, one thing did not contribute to Hitlers rise to power, it was many things.
In rememberance... those first responders who died ten years ago where every bit as much soldiers as Major Winters and the men of Easy Company. Whether it was on 9/11/01, or 6/6/44, those who laid down their lives will forever be remembered as American heroes...
I've to admit I AM from Germany, & I hate our country 4 all the things they've done! I hate them soo much.. I'm in shame 4 that ass @hobbylos1993 .. such a stupid fool.. don't know nothing..
I want 2 say sorry 4 all that the Germans did wrong, I know that that don't excuse anything.. but I wish It would..
The only thing I can 2 is hoping that no other World War will come.. & that my company at the Federal Force Defense 'll be just half that strong brotherly bound as the Easy!
@Itachischatzi don't blame yourself and your modern nation for the actions of the 2nd and 3rd Reichs, Long live the 1st Reich, Long live the Holy Roman Empire, and, as Col. Von Stauffenburg said as he was executed for treason against hitler: :LONG LIVE SACRED GERMANY!
-this coming from an American who is fascinated with the good parts of germany's history
@Airsoftinsight No, God won't judge me for living in a country, which was in the wrong, but I'm sorry because Denmark helped the Nazies, I don't want to gain any disrespect to my country. I want to say sorry because we were wrong and we helped the wrong.
@Jonte135 I tell you, I'm sorry for it, because it was a bad move, which shouldn't have been... Ever, the Nazis captured the Danish people by saying it would safe us, but actually we've gained a bit of disrespect in the world because of it and I'm sorry for the idiots, who even let the Nazies take over Denmark, to save their own butt. That's why I'm sorry, because Denmark actually offered their aid to the Nazies. England and France offered their help to get us free, but we denied.
@HuesingProductions Many people from Germany didn't even know what the Nazies did. They thought Hitler saved the jews, to hide them away from the ones who didn't like them, which was pure lies. The truth actually reached Germany some years after the end of the 2. world war. It's good to be sorry for what some idiots from your country did, but you had nothing to do with it, and by saying your sorry, you only approve that Germany ain't heartless. The Nazies are guilty, not you!
RIP Major Dick Winters. Your and your men's efforts kept this nation truely free from Nazi Germany during the Second World War. To that, the nation is humbled and forever greatful for your service in its hour of need. Even though you are now gone physically, you will live on forever in the hearts and minds of many American civilians, and current armed service members who continue to keep us free.
@carolf1209 They will not just live on in American hearts and minds my friend; they will endure throughout history, in all of our hearts. For those who believe in peace.
i like this song because i feel like it properly captures the loss of innocence from these young men. they went off to fight in a war leaving happy and carefree, as evidence of those two clips, the one in the jeep and the other when they are chilling together. but it also has moments of the 1000 yard stare and it properly transforms their loss of innocence into a melancholy song that reflects their sacrifice. This song gives me chills everytime and makes me proud to be an American.
