Dude, you are amazing! I work in a stamping plant and I have always wanted to do this with machinery and pipes in the building. It is cool to see such creativity come to light.
@radicalgarbage02 We get it, you hate David Byrne. Shut up and move on, you don't need to discuss the artistic merit of a guy who used to dance around in a big suit.
I can't dislike an idea just because everyone else likes it or what?
I genuinely think that the sounds generated are just incoherent trash. It's not the unconventional "brilliance", as you put it, that bothers me. It's the thought that David probably did this to make music more accessible to that particular community by making all the random sounds generated by anyone playing that building musically valid by putting his stamp of approval on it.
Hahaha... I'm genuinely surprised to find someone who, judging from you interest in David Byrne, likes Talking Heads being so conventional in musical taste. Then again, I like noise music. How pretentious of me, I know! :D To each their own.
@radicalgarbage02, "attention-whore's disease?" You've posted SIX comments on this fairly short video stating how you don't like David Byrne's "playing the building" project. Seems to me that only an "attention-whore" would bother to post SIX negative comments on a video that seems to be enjoyed by so many people based on the rating it's gotten. Why would you post a negative comment? To get attention. One comment maybe, but SIX? Maybe it takes an attention-whore to know one?
BTW, in case you still don't get it, it's not jealousy. It's not my fault that I see flaws in his artistry. I'll admit he is brilliant at times, but no one is perfect.
Why do you feel the need to take just the positive qualities from a celebrity and put them up on a pedestal and in a glass case? Of course, then you're going to tell me I'm jealous. I look at people as real. They are touchable and human. Sorry, but I don't like walking down your false museum of speechless heads.
Puku, for your information the exhibit is free for the public and Byrne didn't get paid, he just got the city to fund it's creation. Too bad you have no imagination or creativity in your mind because if you did you would understand how cool the idea is. It's like when you are a kid and make rhythms out of anything, he's doing it as an adult and for fun, better life than yours i bet. I went and it was really amazing playing it.
@tweetermkyman yeah, its not always about the money and some people still cant unterstand it. david byrne is a crazy creative genius, i read he is a biking enthusiast, he supports cycling and created bike racks for New York City. See, another non-commercial project. greets from Germany ;)
David Byrne, you're the best.

In other words, he's misleading people and generating musical value where there isn't any. That is the DEFINITION of being pretentious.

I'm sorry, but what does attaching random electro-mechanical devices around a worthless building have to do with personality?
David Byrne is a has-been that only achieved modern success due to his prior fame with The Talking Heads.
If he has anything, it's probably Asperger's Syndrome and a mild case of attention-whore's disease.

How much does it cost?
