Thanks. Love the 2 tempos. This is a stepping stone piece for getting kids to keep 3 different note values "tuned" to the same metronome. They all want to start in your 2nd tempo, and I love it that you play the practice tempo all the way through.
This video was really helpful because my teacher gave it too me for homework and she didn't teach me how to play... I watch the video and now I have it all figured out! Thank you, Allyson!
Hi! My son is playing this piece now. I notice you do vibrato on this one but I also see my son's teacher saying that they should not learn vibrato until much later. Just curious your thoughts on vibrato.
@Mariegilbert12345 - personally I really drag my feet on teaching vibrato. There are so many other really important things to master in the early years, especially a really good clean staccato. If you leave vibrato alone until later, it's a simple thing. But to learn early turns it into a complex challenge that distracts attention from the essential things.
@animehammy101 - it's never too late! It is a bit complex, but the trick is to break it down into a whole lot of really easy steps and just take it step by step. Try to find a teacher who has a good sense of humour and isn't in a rush!
Many thanks Ms. Allyson. We live in Iowa, US and my son just started his private lesson using Suzuki Book 1 this summer and followed all of your teaching clips. Great help and he's making amazing progress. We like the two temp performance/practice temp, similar to his piano lessons. Please keep up with the good work. Big fans :-)

Allyson I wanted to say a sincere and heartfelt thank you for your videos - for taking the time and for your obvious passion for violin. We are living in Canada for 12 months, away from our supurb Suzuki teacher in Australia, and cannot afford lessons till we get back. You videos have kept my daughter going - you've helped me help her! We've progressed from Gavotte through to Hunter Chorus just because of you!!! THANK YOU!
@loonyloub - That's wonderful - I'm so glad to hear you've been able to continue making headway. I hope you enjoy your stay in Canada - you didn't say which part! - and I know you'll be really happy to get back to your teacher at home!
@AllysonsViolinStudio We're in St Catharines, Ontario. We upload videos for our teacher back home and he critiques them for us...it's working well so far. Thanks again - you are a gem!
wow! such a wonderful song! Thank you, I was looking for this song everywere and I just couldn't find it! You've really helped me! And your tips are amazing!
@drakkarolay - I started doing Suzuki violin when I was 3 - I think it was the first Suzuki program in Canada. I'm not sure how many volumes there are - when you get to book 8 (I think) - it's Mozart concertos, so I think a lot of people just start buying the individual concertos. Depends who your teacher is! But up to that point, it's really a great collection of music that addresses technical & musical issues in a logical progression, so very useful even if you're not a suzuki student.
@AllysonsViolinStudio You're so lucky I wish I had started when I was three ;) but i guess you never had youtube to help you out!! XD This is a lot of help thanks
@Princesswickett - lol! definitely no youtube. No one had dreamt up personal computers yet, and when they did, we still couldn't imagine what you'd use them for! Things sure change - glad the clips are working for you.

Just wondering how hard the violin really is and if it's not too late for me to learn it.

I shall learn! But first I need to persuade my parents and then buy a violin... How much do violins usually cost?

@Lucas121242 - There is a clip for Musette - look in the playlist for Suzuki book 2. Chorus is actually at the top of my list, so probably next week.
